This episode we do some advanced networking with Applied Energistics to route items and fluids around to various machines and storage locations. We start by adding a new Centrifuge to Ore Processing and utilise Stocking Input Busses to feed the machines from two different networks. After editing fluid storage to also incorporate Fluid Storage Busses we also port over some older systems in the base like Polyethylene, PVC and PTFE into the new chemistry area. Integrating it with our AE system and also adding Silicone Rubber automation.

Starting the day with a new threefold episode, nice
Finishing the night with some GTNH
Gotta say, Three, your video editing and design continues to improve in leaps and bounds. Even all the tiny things you through in there ("In a *roundabout* way") don't go unnoticed and make all the difference; it means a lot as a viewer to very obviously see how hard you try and how much work you put into the videos!
Hey thanks AJ, always glad to see you here! I know you guys notice this stuff :D
I'm always amazed at how you can build such complicated systems, and make them look good at the same time. I can't do either of those things.
Such a nice play through
It really is.
Magic Mirrors are a perfectly valid method to transport items interdimensionally, and can be set up as early as mid-late HV. In fact there is just a *ton* of stuff you can do with magic mirrors if you're clever enough, from automatically sending miner output to ore processing centralized storage interdimensionally to getting a discount wireless interdimensional AE2 terminal to using them as discount Ender Tanks, but the long and short of *this particular situation* is that Three is simply better off investing into doing more IV quests to get more IV Lootbags. Doing so will involve setting up necessary infrastructure, the quests will have to be done sooner or later anyway, and *eventually* the IV Lootbags will yield an Ender Chest, so gambling on IV lootbags is just the better play here. If you're wondering how far away Three is from being able to craft Ender Chests the hard way, by the way, not too far. Three should have some Iridium Metal Residue Dust from ore processing Meteoric Iron, and if not has the means to get more of it, and a few manual processing steps from there he could have Iridium Dust. Cooking it does require an IV powered EBF, admittedly, but absolute worst case some temporary jury-rigging with the central power spine (if not just taking one or two IV batteries and using them) will solve that problem handily.
Something that I highly recommend doing with these chemical processes is to keep as many of the machines as possible on the same voltage tier, just to make cabling that much easier. LCRs especially are great for this as they get perfect overclocks by default, meaning you're not losing anything worth mentioning overclocking even an LV recipe to EV. Whereas messing with too many transformers, well...you all remember "HV to MV, yes" I take it 🙃.
Yeah, so remember what I said about this being the age of muliblocks? If you haven't figured out some solution to keep on top of Maintenance Issues now is the time you're going to have to start thinking of one, because manually checking each and every controller every time you log in (or something along those lines) is going to add up *real* quick. My preferred solution is Maintenance lights, easy examples of which can be seen in the Benzene setup, to be able to see which machines are having issues at a glance. Of course you can go *much* fancier than that if you wish, but I find that being able to scan a room from the entrance and see issues highlighted with a simple lamp block is easy enough to build and makes the whole Maintenance dance a lot faster.
Three, twenty minutes ago: "Ore processing as processed through all of the backlog, and look at what we've got. We. Are. Rich." Three, now: "We're going to run these at LV, just to make this a bit cheaper at this point in the game." 🙃
Platinum processing is something you generally want to set up sooner rather than later, since so much takes Platinum here and there. You can keep using the inefficient recipe, but you'll need the byproducts of that platinum metallic powder dust sooner than you might think. Of course setting up the *entirety* of platline right now is hard if not impossible, so you're probably tempted to wait until you've able to set it up in it's "permanent" location, but this is a mistake - not having a material on hand only leads to setting up even more temporary solutions that should (or even has to be) be replaced later. It sounds bizarre to set up a temporary setup to *prevent* setting up temporary setups, but that's just how GTNH rolls. Inefficient to be efficient, and temporary setups to avoid temporary setups. There's a reason this pack is hard beyond the required time investment, the entire concept the pack rolls with is just hard to wrap your head around sometimes.
If your base is sufficiently well designed and future-proofed it's entirely possible to hook up these sorts of old setups into AE2 with just a fluid storage bus on a super tank, and not have to bother actually replacing the old setups (which, again, could be fed with something as simple as a P2P connection into a ULV input tank) until they become a bottleneck in terms of production speed. This is why building these kinds of old setups in a robust way is critically important, since it saves you so much time down the line when you're struggling to improve everything at once and need everything improved already to improve anything in the first place. Of course designing such a base at all is an impossibly difficult task, if only because with how (relatively) frequently stuff gets changed as the pack gets updated even if you manage such a design it's only going to work without modifications for so long. Add "base aesthetics" to the list of requirements, however, and designing a future-proofed base that's reasonably buildable circa, what, Steam-LV which will house everything needed to craft an Assembly Line in late IV is frankly a harder challenge than getting this far into the pack in the first place. Something as relatively simple like the Benzene setup alone can take hours if not days of concentrated effort to optimize, and that's just a cluster of tightly packed machines which doesn't fit in a lawnbase only because it has a basement.
Remind me to yell at Three to invest in a Seroconverter once he dives back into Thaumcraft again. Sure, Healing Axe stops the hunger debuff from moving filled tanks from causing issues, but a quick Fames injection would completely stop hunger from existing for 5 minutes and 20 seconds. Very convenient for moving fluid tanks around, which you'll be doing if you're going with an external fluid tanks storage solutions instead of an AE2 fluid storage cells based solution (the latter not being a realistic option back in 2.2.3, mind). Those temporary fluid tanks will need to be moved at some point, and wouldn't it be nice to do that without worrying about keeping your Healing Axe equipped or risking starting to death 🙃?
I wish your comments were like pasted into a doc somewhere lol
Your breakdowns are very informative and have helped me in my own run (rn late LV early MV
It always makes my day a lot better when Threefold has uploaded
your one of the best modded players out there in this never ending pocket dimension called youtube
I hope that this Series turns out to be the best one yet!
Good luck for the rest of GTNH!
Your going to need it!
Thank you thank you! That is very kind of you
You can add second level of tanks in liquid storage room. Especially above the center part i think it would look awesome.
gonna comment the same, actually.
the room is HUGE, why spend like 90 blocks of space per single fluid? gotta make 2 or even 3 levels with tanks, singleblock and multiblock ones, to make the room look super cool
Man the music you put in the background of your videos is so good, and the way you time it with what's going on in the video ... *chef's kiss*
Last week you inspired me to start manually grinding IC2 crops at HV pre-moon, and while I only just today got my farms placed it's so freeing having renewables. This pack is a near endless source of feeling accomplished.
I tried it years ago but gave up before I had steam machines. Thank you so much for giving me the courage to make a serious attempt, I finished Benzene MK2 recently and it feels like the whole game has opened up. I'm starting passive production lines by piping benzene and it's made it even harder to buckle down and go to the moon. I'll probably redo all my plastics first lol.
I now spend about a third of your videos just fawning over your AE network. I want to be that organized very badly but I'm probably due for a new base once I hit IV.
I am amazed at how big brain Three is. Listening to him explain this stuff never gets old. I can barely follow along, but it's still very entertaining for some reason.
33 chests worth of stuff that Three really could have used *before* investing into these exceedingly expensive machines, and the other machines required to support them. But now that the age of material scarcity is *mostly* over the next step is to invest into more MBMs, preferably T2 ones, and the infrastructure they will require to keep running and keep precious ores coming in. Not that Three is lacking in, say, Iron at the moment (or ever will going forward), but there's always the rarer stuff that is good to get more of. Of course setting up crops (and automated processing thereof) basically falls within the same category, as they will also provide critically important materials that miners alone have a hard time getting - Glowstone, to name one example, is going to become essential for circuit production going forward, and you're going to need it in massive quantities to match the massive quantities of circuits you're going to need. If not to set up future infrastructure - and you will - than to eventually enter into LuV, and GTNH's midgame. Once securing a steady income of materials is done, and the processing thereof has been shored up, the next step will be upgrading production capacity. Massively upgrade it, ideally.
Reminder that with the IC2 Industrial Diamond route those 110K pieces of coal can be processed into around 1.500 Diamonds. "That's not a lot for the amount of coal put in", you say? True, but you're not using 110K coal at this stage while you will be using many of those diamonds to expand AE2, and other stuff (nuclear in particular is very industrial diamond hungry if you go with that as your power solution). You will be needing coal in large quantities eventually, and you will get access to a ton more diamonds through ore when you've got a T3 rocket and access to Ross128b, but here and now it's an option for turning a less useful resource into a more useful resource.
The vast majority of ingots from now on will need to be EBFed, yes, but there's still plenty of other stuff you'll have to smelt the normal way. Of course for that task you'll need something better than Steam Ovens in IV, so it's time to invest in the Multi-Smelter. Like most multis that require EBF coils to form it'll disappoint you if you don't give it good coils to work with, but otherwise it'll smelt things faster than you can turn water into steam to feed a steam oven.
Now you might be wondering what all you can do to put Saltroot in a better environment, short of moving it to a desert biome in the overworld. The easiest solution, and one I have indeed been yelling at Three to get into (if only because it invariably will prove critically important for bees), is Witchery Shifting Seasons brews. They're not trivial to make from scratch with zero investment, I'll admit, but the vast majority of the cost is upfront infrastructure (and, ideally, Witches' gear/brewing experience to gain extra yield). Once you're able to craft them it's relatively trivial to craft more of them, especially if you invest in the time and gear required to triple your output - or sextuple it, using Brew Bottling/Decanting brews. Better have a very powerful Witches' Altar in that case, though. And in either case, ideally 🙃.
The various types of stone dust you will be getting from MBMs, so it makes sense to have processing them be a part of ore processing proper. Also Three still being cheap and putting LV mufflers on everything 🙃. Pollution isn't anywhere close to the destructive and disruptive mechanic that people think it is, but one place you will notice it is in crafting higher tier muffler hatches.
You can have multiple outputs to a single ME P2P, the challenge in doing that is keeping track of how many channels each output line is using so that the input doesn't exceed the 32 channels it can supply. This is where having a dense cable between the main controller and the P2P connection comes in handy, because that allows you to see at a glance how many channels a given P2P is using. And of course color-coding those P2P channels will make it even easier to keep track of which P2Ps are connected to what. GTNH does give you plenty of tools to do that more automatically, the Advanced Memory Card and the Network Visualization Tool to name two, but generally speaking the less you have to fiddle with gadgets to keep overview of your system, the better.
In the specific case of Red Garnet Dust it's three output actually have a special ore processing line where you centrifuge them with Nitric Acid to produce a ton of random stuff. Whether that's worth doing is up to you, but it is an option.
Cinnabar Dust you actually want to directly smelt, at it turns into Thaumcraft Quicksilver 1:1 instead of the centrifuge's 2:1 liquid mercury (plus extra sulphur, but we don't want to burn precious mercury to get more sulphur of all things). Why, yes, ore processing in GTNH is indeed very complicated and has a ton of these gotcha pitfalls. Doesn't get any less complicated as you progress through the tiers and/or set up other stuff and suddenly your needs change, either.
For the record each quantum ring takes 990 EU/t passively just to exist, so actually connecting two of them would eat about 1A EV passively. This is not insurmountable, four MMEAs with Creeper Eggs would do the trick for instance, but Three's magic infrastructure is in no condition to craft that without a ton of manual work. And connecting AE2 to the central power spine has it's own complications.
Waking up to a threefold video just makes my day 100x better, Thank you Three for everything you do!
You always sound so enthusiastic in these videos, it is clear that you really love playing this game (which is also a huge part of why it is so fun to watch!)
This is literally the only thing I'm looking forward to on RUclips, such a good series!
My heart starts beating faster, when I see new episode is out
Watching this playthrough is a form of experiencing the pack ourselves who don't have the time to sink in so many hours ourselves. So thank you :D
Great episode. I love seeing a threefold episode in my feed. Especially after an annoying day at work. :)
Morning upload? Truly the best way to start the day
Your episodes are getting better and better. Incredible work !
Waking up and immediately watching your video. This day is gonna be awesome!
Ending the day with a new threefold episode, nice
I love watching you when i am sick
all the brilliant, goofy editing in here is keeping me alive bro
I love this series so much! When I'm not watching a new Three episode I'm playing some Nomifactory XD
An other episode of infra, let's goooooo. Thank you so much for all the effort you're putting in this series
Thanks for watching, have an amazing day!! :D
Me gregging while watching Three gregg
I definitely call into the category of being unable to play this lack due to time and ability so thank you for allowing me to enjoy it through your ludicrous effort 😄
Love watching these while baked
Man, Three really has me wanting to start Greging but I don't have the time for it and boy is it just daunting to get started LOL
Nice. Am looking forwards to this episode three!
nothing better after an calculus test than a three video
I hope it went well :)
I really enjoy when you get to this part of packs, especially with AE2. I always seem to learn something new when it comes to automation with that mod. It's also really cool to see all that GTNH has added in the way of automation with their machines and AE2. It definitely seems like you're enjoying this season a lot more then last due to some of the quality of life changes. Thanks for a great episode Three!
Yeah it's awesome! Now that we have some more advanced tech the pack is super fun at this point :D
thank you mr threefold
What a good way to start a weekend, thanks !
Immediately hitting like as I know every episode is going to be an absolute banger
I am playing Nomifactory (got inspired by you!) and I just made it to MV. Playing a mod that includes GT myself I've started to really appreciate how incredible what you are doing is! I can only marvel your ability to be on episode 40!
MV is where nomifactory really starts to open up, have fun!
@@drencor7402 thanks! i am trying to keep my head from exploding, but for now I think i've got hold of things, so far...
Someone find a dean of a university somewhere to give Three an honorary chemical engineering degree, he deserves it.
things are really ramping up! this is my favorite part of gtnh!!
27:56 he said the thing
I might have missed something, but why keep the fluid p2ps at all? Couldn't you send everything through fluid interfaces for main fluid storage?
I have been sufficiently gregged for today
2 episode in 1 week 🎉🎉
It was so fun watching thank you Three!
Every time I see another greggy post I become really happy
What a lovely thing to get off work and come home to
to filter in the storage bus you can just click the wrench looking button on the side of the GUI when you open the storage bus. Its called Partition Storage and it will basically read all the items in the inventory its placed on and auto filter. it wouldn't work for the ore processing bc its doing a different job but for tanks and drawer controllers it works
The goodest of days when a new epsiode comes out
It's 9am UK time. Did I expect a Three video nope but I love it
5am three video exactly what i need
I really enjoyed the signage.
You can partition fluid storage buses if there is fluid already in the target inventory by just clicking a button in the GUI of the bus
Don’t centrifuge cinnabar, you want to smelt it
Try the partition button in the storage bus for the water
Yeah partition didn't work either, I tried all three methods of filtering at the time. I suspect its some sort of oversight wit the integration of AE2FC
You're doing a fantastic job, Three, but mind you don't burn out.
Still loving your videos, one of the few playthrough that's keeping me insterested in a modpack that i can't even run😂
Excellent start to the day! :D
Thank for episode!
Can you say a name of the song from 25:50?
Coins - Mild Tempers :)
@@Threefold. Thank you)
Can you in some future episode show what is required for the tier 7 rocket, would be really interesting knowing what is needed and how far off it is.
if the world ever goes to shit we need to keep three alive so he can rebuild society with his GTNH knowledge :D
How do you do the bookmarking by row/column in NEI? I’ve noticed this frequently in your videos but I haven’t seen it elsewhere, and had no idea it was a thing before!
“Well done Three, you are better in colors than you are at math.” ThreeFold
Great video as always!
ME = Matter/Energy, I think, that's what AE2's system is called. That's why the hatch has ME in the name instead of AE
Good one as always. But does they fix fluid storage buses ? They suppose to be very laggy, even in Nomifactory it say it right in quest book.
Yes Storage busses are definitely viable these days in 2.3.0 :)
truly greggalicious
I like wathcing your videos a lot. cause no way i could handle so much grind and complexity
33 chests emptied!
Three: “We are rich!”
Greg: “lol”
*next episode*
Three: “So I have moved the miners 5 times. We need more resources to craft a gear”.
Lol. Great play through as usual.
285 times*
I don't know if it's expensive or not, but you might use central monitor or just covers on fluid tanks to monitor the amount. And of course everything else in your base
Your videos are pure joy ❤
Gregging three is best three
You should make the mining laser, it might take two LuV circuits but It’ll be worth the five minutes of fun when you can put it on scatter mode and mine a whole vein in 30 seconds
Thanks for another great episode. ^^
Great episode as always. Quick question about the way the centrifuge interfaces with the fluid storage. Let's say your oxygen tank is full. Will the system get jammed as the centrifuge has no where to store the oxygen? Or is the centrifuge still able to run recipes which produce helium for example?
It will still run the recipe for other fluids if for example oxygen is full! :)
Do you have access to the processed reasourses from your main network, if so how?
Great Eps! Can you hook up a small drawer wall for now on your farms then manually move them over to the overworld just to get some production running till you get the ender chest? I know its manual and I'm not sure if you actually need anything but just a thought
I’ve forgotten to ask but when are you releasing your music playlist.
First. Always exited for GTNH!!
I wonder if the original greg mod author was a chemical engineer? Man damn sure knew his chemistr
What is the point of ptp if you are using it for storage at this point, isnt it better to turn into fluid interface?
44k !!!! congratz three!!!
He doesn't even want to see how much time he's dumped into this anymore lmao
is the storage bus on blacklist mode? iirc they can be on either
What if storage for fluid is full? Does centrifuge stop working?
havent been able to play gtnh ever since i tried to update, i even tried a clean install but it gives me the same error, error code 1, apparently it couldnt download some additional files
4:42 little does he know
I really hope that you move the buses on the new centrifuge so it looks normal ;-;
only got 10 left i dont know what imma do when i finally catch up hahaha
OK, I know it's a year old but I'm just now going through this.
Is there a reason for all the subnetworks? Is it for game performance, future proofing, or something else? Like in my head, a single network with all the p2ps would would be fine, right?
I dont know what it is but i keep falling asleep during your videos. I blame your music.
Does the me Fluid Output also buffer Infinite ammounts of every Fluid?
I believe so :)
33:35 "It is _unacceptable_ at this point in the game that we are _still_ manually crafting _pretty much_ everything..." -- Well, Three, if you just started making use of crafting cards... (😆 j/k I know about the reasons for not using them, and that also they wouldn't solve the problem because there's still only one CPU. I just saw the joke and had to.)
😂
i updated the pack to the stable version but now im getting error code 1, does anyone know how to fix it?
It correctly says that it outputs directly to ME because it means it is being stored as material energy, having it say it would be stored directly as applied energistics wouldn't make much sense
Are you planning on revisiting nomi after the new community edition changes (stuff like the cleanroom and maintenence) or do you think you are done, at least for a long while, with nomi?
dude, he plays GTNH even if he going to stop it, i think he will need a HEFTY rest from g r e g
@@mrShift_0044 I believe in GTNH S1 towards the end, he interwove episodes with Nomi episodes before stopping GTNH alltogether
@@morrisstanforth3278 well that was a sign that things are not going so good.
Can we not just use endro io energy conduits ?
for what? why? eh????
EIO Energy conduits only transport RF. The GT machines use EU :)
Pog at 2:40 am
I like one aspect of Gregtech - the mining veins. Other than that it's waaay too complicated a modpack for me.
Woohoo!
Hi Threefold! It is possible to build an industrial greenhouse mentioned in the newest update straight into your current base? And thank you for all your effort, you always make my day ! ❤
Not quite, I believe it's still a little far for us to invest in one due to the power costs. We will get one eventually :)
For a moment I thought I was first, then I realized my ping is sh*t. But I love the series, even tho I can't play along, because my PC can't run the pack.
Finally!
Random question. I just decided to play this modpack and found a village with my mates. The village got totally destroyed by all sorts of mobs and guardians did little help. Question is: Can you spawn villagers and if so how? Would want to repopulate this village. Same with guardians from Witchery mod. Can you respawn them and if so how?
after gtnh can you play project ozone 3
