Did you test under a seat and it doesn't affect the line of sight? I mean, that's what I would hope for since you don't want the thing to be in plain sight. What about under a rear seat or in a hidden place in the trunk? I would definitely wire it direct to 12V
i have 3 units and not one works - im from uk england so maybe they dont work over here
You forgot to mention how long on a single charge ? Also do you need to use SMS to config or can you connect to a PC to config.
At first the device would last for a day or 2. Then after a while, because it's constantly locked away in a hot vehicle, the battery would last only a few hours and every day I had to swap or charge.
Configuration had to be done via sms only based on the version I had.

You can always plug it to a power bank if you are worried about battery life so that way no one can see it as well

The device works well... for a few days until it runs out of battery. The battery life is incredibly short forcing you to recharge it every couple of days. Furthermore, if you order via GearBest, the company will fight your reclamation. Not worth it. Still, great video.

Scary first few seconds, but then into a positive and very very useful explanations video. Thanks. Although wish you had done a bit about the battery life. I am uncertain what to expect from battery.
HPCer so over time using this thing the battery started to drain faster than in the initial stages. Maybe due to the heat building up in the car based on the climate conditions where I'm located.
It is great when it works, but my problem is the battery life is terrible. When I need to know the location the most, it doesn't respond to me because the battery has died out.
Sapphire Jan man I agree with that... True story, was away from home and had to park my van on the sidewalk of where I was.
During the early hrs of the morning I decided to do a check, nothing. No matter how I tried I would not get a response. You know kw who was freaking out now. Finally decided to get up and go outside, van was there and OK but the damn tracker died after being charged in the morning.
Last yr I tired using a cheap android device and Google as a tracking solution which kinda sorta works.

It's based on your country and how they handle the service. You don't get a Sim card with the device, so you will have to purchase one. In Jamaica we have the option to go either prepaid where you top up your minutes, or do a service where you just pay a monthly charge based on usage.
tk102 is out of date gps tracker. now you can use magnet gps tracker with over 3 years battery life.hide anywhere, and no need charge in 3 years.

Oh yea man. This definitely worked in Jamaica. But the Battery life suffered while it stayed in the sun and hot car.
@@RayonWhittaker OK am actually looking to import some to resell and help people secure their vehicle. I was talking with some supplier but the are not sure if the 2G trackers work in Jamaica, because they no long work in USA. You know is this was 2G?

Device has to be quadband and supports the frequencies of both digicel and Flow (ie. 850/1900 & 900/1800) once those devices can talk on that frequency they're good for the network here in Jamaica 🇯🇲.
And oh yea, the one was 2G and the model is TK-102b.
Be sure that when you get them, pass one on for a week or so. I'll be more than happy to test it out and create a video of my findings on both here and the Car channel Autovive - ruclips.net/user/autovive

How far is the range?
LegionFilms for the GPS? I could place under my seat and still get accuracy to be under 30 meters.
When placed in the roof of the vehicle or somewhere close to the dashboard I got accuracy reduced to somewhere below 15 meters

Sorry to take so long... Battery 🔋 life sucks.
After having it in a hot parked car, it suffers. After a few weeks I started to get only few minutes of battery life and had to be swapping batteries very often.
Battery drained rapidly after a few weeks of use.

Dude! I don't think I've ever gotten a reply this fast - I haven't even finished watching the video yet. Thank you! So, if I understood correctly if both the SIM cards (the tracker and my smartphone) are from a GSM company of the same country, and both those devices are in the country as well, it works the same way as if those were two phones, there's no need for the calling code in the number I input after admin123456? If so then it is in fact 10 digits and it is the case. That's the only thing I had on my mind. Liked the video, more helpful than any other tutorial/review on RUclips. :)
Berniksus yes you are so correct, the tracker would be just like you calling another cell phone once both devices are in the same country.
I also did a solution using an Android device and Android Device Manager, it's pretty much free with an old used android device.

It's not really that it's inane, but more that it's foreground rather than background. A bit loud but not that big a deal..

Depends on your service provider. We top up here using a prepaid sim card, after 5 messages are sent the next 100 are free.
what kind of sim card is best for the money? i only need it to function

Not sure how the service providers in the US customize their service for prepaid but, that would be my suggestion (To go with a prepaid service).
If you have the option of adding minutes to the SIM instead of a monthly billed setup, I believe that should be absolutely good.
