Yesterday they just deciphered his cypher that he sent in 1969. All it said essentially was “have fun finding me. I’m not afraid of the gas chamber because it will send me to paradise since i now have enough slaves working for me.”

One of the long-running myths about the Zodiac is that he said he would "give [his] name." Zodiac never said that; he said his identity is in the cypher; that could be a title, job description or any other identifier. A collecting of souls could mean he believes he is Death or the Grim Reaper. When the cipher was cracked, Zodiac specifically stated, "I will not give you my name." Still, to this day, "sleuths" insist the Zodiac's name is in a code somewhere.
There's also the psychology involved: someone who likes taunting the authorities, codes and cryptic clues to show how clever they are is not going to be someone who would actually reveal their name. My guess is that the cipher that begins with the plaintext "my name is ... " (the Z13 cipher) probably doesn't reveal his name at all, nor any of the other unsolved ciphers are likely to reveal anything that point to an identity. The point of the ciphers is the cipher itself as the puzzle set by the killer: not the information within it.
@@Eideric In other words, a distraction. The cyphers may be completely useless and distracted the cops while the killer did what they could to destroy evidence, etc.
I was considering that it may be a group but at least one person would squeal, unless they all got killed by the leader... but now there's a bunch of dead guys to investigate.
Maybe it was just 1-3 guys who distracted ignorant cops with useless cyphers.
Z13 is probably something like "UNKNOWNTOYOU", as in "MY NAME IS UNKNOWN TO YOU." I highly doubt he wanted to be caught, and wouldn't have actually revealed his name.
Z32 holds job information, and the last 15 lines of Z340 does as well. Nope, Zodiac name right out in the open in plain english. You must solve before you can see it. He said his worst enemy is G in Z340 towards the middle. I think he may know Gyke, if you were to read the rest of Z340, he sure sounds like an activist.

To anyone who’s interested in the Zodiac case, I HIGHLY recommend the movie Zodiac from David Fincher. It’s legit one of the most historically accurate true crime movies of all time. When researching for the movie, they had access to police reports, interviewed/consulted with actual survivors of the Zodiac, and even talked with 911 operators who talked directly to the killer. It’s incredibly well made.

Man its so much easier to write a zodiac letter today cuz u could just run a letter through an online cypher than like run it through another cypher than just make like a 1:1 alphabet that you made up and nobody would be able to figure it out, back when there weren’t computers this mustve been really hard
