Being ignorant to the movie events, I've had limited information to go by for the Immortal Justice. And while it has the staple good aesthetics and a slightly restricted version of the SEED Action System, it is generally a great kit on paper. However, besides the dulled looks, the handling isn't all that much to write home about either, especially over time

Personally i love the concept of the beam sabers as boomerangs in hg form, and given the gundam fandom web page's description as the Immortal Justice shield as a refined and improved version of the Rising Freedom's shield (Flash Edge 3 vs Flash Edge 4) it makes sense. The remote force field thing sounds very sci fi fancy schmancy but then again beam sabers themselves are plasma encased in a force field anyway so once again it's justified in lore. The joints look more refined and compared to my hg infinite justice (whose joints were so tight they broke easily or wore out in the shoulders) I see this as a plus. Overall, it really gives off vibes that this is a refined justice gundam made to fight in earth and space frequently, though I really dislike how they removed the sub flight fatum lifter (again, it would've been a burden in this scenario but come on that's one of the defining features of the justice gundam). Now to hope that bandai catches the seed hype and revives the ginn or makes us a hg guaiz model finally I dont want to have to resort to customizing and kitbashing a hg cgue to death
The boomerangs as sabers fight style was present since the Sword Impulse, so it's relatively Shinn for them to be used that way. I also do like how the Shield is like a bit weapon instead of something like the Deathscythe's shield. Though yes, I do agree it is a bit too compact for being a Justice variant as the back weapon platform is one of its defining features as you mentioned. It just feels more Savior than Justice to me.
@@mj2005gundam agree
I love how the beam boomerang shape is reminiscent of the aegis gundam beam blades, and in tandem with the leg blades this iteration of athrun-series mobile suits feels to me the most like the original aegis gundam (not just because of the transformation feature). If only they take advantage of these blade effects and revives the hg aegis along with the other seed gundams...
(heck im down for zaft grunts i still cant believe dinn, goohn, zno, zuoot, and guaiz didnt get hgs and yet the bucue and lagowe did this is busted i want a hg guaiz so badly but i guess customizing the hg cgue to death will have to do)
Use the dreadnought it'll cut the work down by half
@@megagundamva2694 i decided instead to use a hg cgue, update the waist joints, and give it 4 new shield options (a multi launcher shield, a twin beam blade shield, a claw + beam cannon shield, and a wired claw + beam spike shield) along with other various parts (ex. Infinite justice wings, eg striker pack shotgun, rg impulse beam rifle, 30mm tank treads, cannons, and torpedos) to configure it into different combat forms (ex. Dinn mode, guaiz mode, amph mode (goohn + zno), lcap mode (bucue + zuoot), and a custom dmra mode (defensive + back mounted gatling + halberd)). Custom ideas are much appreciated!
The blades might also be useful against the Black Knights Squad, as their "Femto-Tech Armor" are resistant/impervious to beams. So the boomerangs might function as physical daggers and damage one of them that way
@@mj2005gundamlike IBO NLA?
I'll be honest, I'm a sucker for the Justice and especially Infinite Justice, but...
This design and the promo picks for Type II. God, it feels like they've really shafted the Justice. I feel like out of the two, it would make the most sense to give the Justice a transformation. Combining the MS with the Support fighter, making it one design rather than two. Maybe combine more elements of the Aegis Gundam into the design. Instead of a lack luster transformation for one and the other an X-Wing.
Maybe expand and increase the melee options? Or give it equal performance to the Freedom which it's new variants seem to pack more than beam spam.
Even the two's new shields feel oddly swapped.
But that's just me ranting, I loved the review, wonderful work as always!~
I’m also a big fan for Justice and IN Justice. Immortal justice’s design is such a weird design. Something about the design is just off. Could be the face or the back pack. Or the fact that shin was the pilot? I don’t know. The spec ii justice however I can be on board with. The xwing backpack and lots of beam sword attached to the body is such a astrun way of fighting lol
If they really intended to combine this with the Murasame, which has a very Zeta-esque transformation, I don't think they should be afraid of doing so at the cost of parts-forming the HG to do so. The manual described that it's for atmospheric reentry, though the Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice did so just as they are, so unless there is strain on the armor which I don't know about, the MA mode is literally pointless according to the instructions.
I also am not a fan of how little they changed the nuclear units like Strike Freedom, Infinite Justice, and Destiny. Just feels like they phoned it in while giving them game-breaking abilities to justify the change and lack thereof. Something like the Build Strike -> Star -> Galaxy Cosmos -> Exceed Galaxy would do, changing the unit's looks/capabilities while still looking similar to the predecessors. Even if these designs were remnants from 2006 or whenever the movie was originally shelved, it's still awfully lazy.
That painted kit in the end is mindblowing, just to show how dull the colors on the unmodified kit.
He top coated it.
Vibrancy really helps some designs, this one included
I had to mix in fluorescent red with a wine red, million blue, and red madder mix in order to bring it up to that point, fine-tuned with white. I'm glad you like it though
The recolored version is amazing!
Thank you! Worked really hard on that one
Well the good news is at least the mobile suit that needed the transformation gimmick because it makes sense has it and it does kind of sort of work. But the bad news is this particular transformation is still literally an afterthought. And while it is a pretty good gundam it still suffers for most of the same problems as it's other brother and it's more or less just a if you like the model and the mobile suit you should get it but be weary of some of the issues it has. I'm glad I'm skipping these mobile suits though I don't think the one new grunt suit that we're getting is probably gonna be better than these 2 or that the other versions of the Freedom and Justice will be good but we will see. Great review!
In worse news, VPS armor is shown to be able to withstand atmospheric reentry without any body mods. Case in point, Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice. Hence the MA mode is completely pointless. The HG Immortal Justice is a pretty good kit on its own, but minus the colors and such, the biggest issue is the handling over time, arguably worse than the Rising Freedom in that regard. So, it is understandable that you'd be skipping it. Glad you liked the video though
... Why does the Phantom head/backpack go hard on the Immortal's body?
Not sure, it's just something I decided to Frankenstein together for the video
I personally prefer the Immortal Justice Gundam than the Rising Freedom Gundam
Excluding the work I went through, so do I. I just like melee units more in general
this definitely gives me older seed kit vibes
but not in a bad way
it's also nice to see that they're using non-polycap joints for more than just the wfm line and some one off kits
not that I hate polycaps, I just prefer more solid parts is all
Ironically, this has more loose parts than you'd imagine. The core structure is like the only thing that's solid
That richer red paintjob does look quite nice.
Thank you
@@mj2005gundam You're welcome dear, even if doing that paintjob was a major hassle.
One big gripe with Immortal Justice for me, it can't use the beam cannon in MS mode(both in modelkit and in the movie). The joint the connect the beam cannon pod is too low to give it full clearance to pose with that.
If they ever make an MG or an RG of this, I have a feeling they might rectify that particular issue.
@@StrikeNoir105E i hope so. it's a good looking MS. tho given how it's role in the movie influence the kit popularity, i doubt that Bandai will make MG immortal justice at all. unless they are doing something like MG IJ type 2 with brand new inner frame and they can just use that mold as a base to use with Immortal Justice
I don't understand weapons that can only be accessed in one mode or another. But at the same time, a well-timed backflip will do
@@mj2005gundam too bad shin wasn't exactly the acrobatic type. But still, this could be a fun custom build project.
I’m torn between getting the Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice. But somehow the Immortal Justice looks good to me. With some paint apps I can fill in on rifle and shield it’ll be already be perfect. Maybe I can also invest on giving a different shade of reds to contrast it further and change the white to a light grey.
Paint apps and a whole lot of fortification mate. Gotta mind that crotch fin especially
This kit make want to hunt down -Blue cosmos- 1/100 Saviour Gundam
I think the mainline units in the NG line got reissued. Don't quote me on that though
what colors did u use for the red and navy blue at the end
I didn't paint the navy blue. The red, I used fluorescent red, wine red, red madder, and million blue, with white to fine-tune the shade.
@@mj2005gundam thanks this will help a lot of people who can afford painting and my friends
Can you build it without the ma mode cone or is it built into the backpack?
You can, but you'd have an empty gap on the backpack
😊😊❤ I love this combination Freedom and Justice and i will get this both
So long as you're ready to put up with the loose pieces. Gotta mentally prepare for that
Seem like Savior but upgrade one
More like a bootleg justice that's inferior to savour
It feels like a Savior Gundam upgrade with Justice elements to me
Blue Freedom = MegaMan Range attack
Red Justice = Zero Melee attack
Freedom has always been a mid-range shooter, while Justice is the close-range unit
I ordered this as my first gundam and this one just looked really cool, is there anything important to know about this one?
Just keep all the potentially loose pieces in check, and glue in any stationary ones. Besides the typical "watch out for nub marks" and that
Question the Justice's head cone can it swap with Freedom's?
There's no slot on the Freedom's head to attach the head fin. Anything is possible with mods, but as it is, no
@mj2005gundam uh not the v-fin the head cone u know when the immortal justice transform to its MA form
1:15 Amaya: Oooh! Perfect for my new gundam!
Athrun: Uh? You literally have a Gundam X Maoh.😒
Astro: Seriously, sis? Do you really need to do that to get miles attention?
Amaya: YES!!!❤🤩
I don't get the reference, sorry
huh? amaya?
That's my sister's name
fun fact: you can slap both Saviour Gundam and L.O Booster's backpack on HG Immortal Justice Gundam lol
I would love to see that
Did you paint the kit by the end of the video?
Yes I did.
Gotta admite the red color reminds me of saviour but the ma is still worse than scramble
I bet that's what they were going for, making this a Saviour Gundam instead of a Justice Gundam. Though I'd say Scramble still has the worse MA mode as it doesn't even try to hide the head.
@@mj2005gundam the head turns like zero and wing and that better than nothing these guys dont try that and Scramble gets away cuz its a Build series varient so not a realistic mecha and even lore wise the MA mode is an after thought
I wish the back mounted cannons of the Saviour or the Justice's Fatum cannons were were used in the design. It feels like Athrun is undergunned in this MS.
No spoilers, but I feel the same about the guns on the back. They should at least be usable in MS mode with sufficient skill, like a back flip to fire or something like that
I'm sorry, I know my mind is in the gutter. But, I just can't for the life of me ignore that little spike/fin thingy jutting out of the front skirt armor that is looking so ... phallic. It's just so bizarre and kind of unnecessary in so many ways. That may just be me tho. If this MS didn't have that, I'd be more on board with team justice over here. But seriously, Kunio Okawara ... whyyyyy?????!!!!
Also, the transformation is indeed a joke, but I never really expected it to have it in the first place. So, I guess it's the complementary shampoo bag that's included with your brand new car sort of deal.
Crotch fin nonsense. I don't have an answer for that. Probably so that it can thrust people to death, who knows? And yeah, the MA mode is just an absolute joke
great job on the paintjob. sadly i feel like the immortal is a downgrade compared to infinite in terns of design. theres just too many of the design aspect that i just dont like on both rising freedom and immortal justice
I'm glad you like the paint job. Sadly, I do feel the same way. While I like how they've condensed the Justice, it still feels like a cheap knock-off of the lineage
2:09 Why is that vent so flat ._.
Because Bandai. I don't know, I spent all day and uncovered that almost every iteration of the Immortal Justice, even the Metal Robot Spirits figure, has at least some elevation for that part.
Whos gonna use the wings for a upgraded raider those wings SCREAM It
No wonder they strike me as something I've seen before...
@@mj2005gundam yep lets face it they didnt try hard with the designs
I wonder how they'll explain how Shin got to pilot this suit
He wanted justice, for it killed his destiny
I do look forward to seeing the movie in full, at least before the Proud Defender gets introduced
they should've let lunamaria pilot it
[spoiler]
Athrun Entrusted the Justice to Shinn
First for review justice murasame cosplay lmao
Sadly, you got beat
Damn.... Just a few second cause my long review 🗿
Suit Designs based on Justice have been on a downgrade ever since the release of the original Infinite Justice. I'm not saying it's ugly but in comparison with the first one, it's night and day.
I think this shouldn't have even been called the Justice honestly. IJ Type II is fair game, but this one...
Speaking of, they literally transplanted the X-Wing onto the IJ, gave it a few minor tweaks and called it a day. You can't get lazier than that.
first
You're first according to the creator studio
I like the design but the transformation is stupid
It's ridiculous. And since the top isn't as busy as the Rising Freedom, you can clearly make out that it's just belly-flopping with a cone on its head
