Correction a month too late: While I did go out of my way to measure the MSF's head height and it somehow came back at 14 cm, further measurements yielded a height of around 13.5-13.7 cm. While yes, the squiggle before the numbers means "approximate value", granting me a margin of error, it's still a slight oversight on my part for rushing the video out. Sorry about that!
You're welcome. And while I'm taking things out of context, the last scene of Kira and Lacus skinny-dipping was absolutely unnecessary to portray love. Imagine if this movie was rated R, what they could've portrayed.
No one shows off how insanely cool it looks when the injection gold plastic isn't with a blacklight, it ABSOLUTELY SHIMMERS, thisnis the first review I see mention it.

Legit, I only want this kit for the backpack to transplant into the rising freedom, considering it was always meant for that suit originally anyways. That being said the the actual ms itself, would look better with the OG dragoon back pack from the original strike freedom
My first impression with the plastic they used for the blade was skeptical, but upon seeing other videos of this kit, I'm astonished how it catches the light that feels like a real sword. The hip pegs, I think is the same as the HG Lancelot or even before the said HG that dons the gimmick in 1/144 scale format- it felt like it's identical to the hip joints of the MG Freedom 2.0 in a smaller scale and less fragile. I wonder if it will get stress marks after many poses later. Otherwise, I think this is one of the decent releases of the HG line, while the sense of familiarity in the assembly is present as you'd mentioned in the video, and I'm glad that I'm not the only one feeling this way. Anyways... Unrelated note- they shall stop mentioning the Mighty Strike Freedom being OP as if the damage it did from the battle is not as huge as other main Gundam did in their perspective universes.
It feels like forever since they've done two textures on one piece. As far as I remember, that dates back to the 1/144 Dragon Gundam. The folding pelvis is nice, and the kit didn't seem to suffer many longevity problems unlike most HGs of SEED Freedom. Though I still don't like the telepathic "plot" particle they've implemented. The lightning I can get behind somewhat, but not Godmode
As much as I'm not a big fan of Cosmic Era visual design, this kit has a lot of cool design elements that i can appreciate, especially the Proud Defender and the giant katana!
TBF. the movie only takes less then two years after GSD, plus the SF and IJ took next to no damage once they hit the scene in that series so the choice to spruce them up and have them return could be seen as a case, "if it ain't broke, why fix or replace it?" I DO question why, after going to the trouble of repairing it, did they NOT give the Impulse Spec 2 and Nuclear Reactor? I mean, it leads to a nice moment between Shinn and Luna, but still.
You're probably right on the cute scene with Shinn and Luna, there could be other reasons. I think it's because the Impulse was never designed to accommodate a nuclear reactor - it would be difficult to incorporate a new power source in a machine that's already structurally complicated due to its combining gimmick and Erica Simmons mentions she kept the machines as testbeds in the novelization. Could it be that Orb was planning to use the improved battery in their next line of suits? Just my interpretation.
Strike Freedom was broken from the Freedom Robbery Incident, and of course they'd fix it back up. And Impulse didn't get nuked because of core block and plot. No other possible reason I could fathom
Your review is way better than the ones that just came out at the same time (not gonna name drop) because you covered the parts that were missed by others, that railgun holster being incompatible being one of them, and the fact that the SFII uses two of those rail gun rifles in the movie, the articulation is pretty insane as it's almost close to what a real grade articulation does except the extra armor purge gimmicks of the modern RGs. The gold parts are begging to be painted with true bright gold because the gold that we ended up with the kit is too cheap looking even with that new metallic gloss to it, something like the plated gold on the RG SF would be incredible to see on that. The proportions are a hit and miss, I do like the RG SF Proportions except for the head which this HG imo is sculpted better. but other than that, I do hope to see a RG version of this in the future, I can't help but think that the HG limitations are hampering its true aesthetic prowess.

As cool as the new backpack is I really enjoyed the Immortal Justice and Rising freedom designs more because they are a stark difference from the originals. Immortal Justice is insanely peak for a retrofit. Yeah there's a lore reason of them being energy based instead of nuclear but like, I was really expecting more of a 00Raiser -> 00 Quanta which was also exactly 2 years after each other timeline wise rather than...Strike freedom 1.2. I do prefer the newer railgun designs (which is closer to the original Freedom Form), and the Infinite Justice's unicorn horn but I still would've preferred new designs altogether rather than cashing in on the Strike Freedom for the millionth time....of which I still prefer over the Mighty haha. In terms of design I think the mighty strike freedom is probably the 2nd best freedom design. It goes back to a more simple design and instead using strong blues for a majority of its design, now uses blue as a minor color and now instead highlights the gold and white of the ms. I like how white has become it's main color while using gold as a compliment. Tho i think the og freedom is still the best design for balancing simplicity with over the top firepower.
@@mj2005gundam I feel stupid not realizing the connection with lacus, tho thinking about it now, with both of them having white coming together into one unit really does represent their unity while still properly representing themselves. Especially in contrast to the carle being just white.

Finally somone who paints the head vulcans. ❤😊 you're one of the few model kit reviewers here who does that. it really pains me seeing HG kits with unpainted head vulcans. Its also the reason why I pass on most HGs... when the head vulcans arent seperate pieces for accuracy... thats a hard pass for me. Excellent job on this bro!
@@mj2005gundam hehehe I know... but if they can do it for RG maybe they can extend that with HG but that could amp the price. Keep the videos going bro! 🥰
"Cooler Strike Freedom" Feels like 1.5 Update of Strike Freedom, there are some flawed design like sliding panels ( if you paint it it'll be easily scratched), stacked railgun with beam saber and rifle, and partsformers crest. However many improvements you mentions here more than enough to overcome those flaws
To be frank, the head crest partsforming is a reasonable compromise for the fact that it's just too small to hinge. The real issues are the gates, the gold, and the neck. Otherwise, the pros balance out the cons enough
@@mj2005gundam eh nothing a little modification can’t do, besides all I need is the new head for that great color separation, the more accurate chest, and the beam shield emitters and it should be good. Just gotta figure out how to keep the rail guns
The Type 2 reminds me of Gundam Wing EW suits. i mean the suit looks the same with minor upgrades. kinda wished they name it kai instead of Type 2 SF losing most of its weapons reminds me of Seed, the superiority of Cal-Rea over SF type 2 armaments before switching to Proud Defender Upgrade. The Proud defender looks ok to me. it’s identical to SF OG backpack with exception no dragoon. (instead those emp attacks) more angelic than usual Wings of Skies style.
The Wing EW suits are still drastically different compared to their TV counterparts or upgrades, so they're still immediately distinct without having to play spot the differences. The oppressive strength of Cal-re.A and the others is what created the stakes in the first place. SF needed new weapons, but they just did it in the laziest way possible by giving it server cheats and hacks. The Proud Defender is a bit eh to me as well. Gunpla engineering wise, I like it more than the OG because of sliding panels and energy bits. But in a normal context, not sure
Hi, just wondering, is the head part supposed to be loose while posing this kit? I've heard complaints about how the head has issues looking upwards and when shaking the head just goes all over the place
The best way to fix that is to literally glue or cement the collar into the chest, and doubly making sure that the rear of the collar is plugged in all the way. Even with proper assembly, the connection comes undone way too easily.
This is a horribly quick one since even Mecha didn't launched it yet but I love the reviews though ^^ Well done MJ! Also, for the memes, yep, mess with Mighty SF, u get "Distrupted."
He's probably wasting his time making a 40-minute review on why this is the best HG kit since Calibarn, but I'm glad you like what I did. Thank you (Telling you this from the grave BTW, I'm nothing but disintegrated atoms at this point)
I honestly liked how the Rising Freedom's color scheme looked more than Strike Freedom's but I can admit the sword and the lines in the extended wings do look nice
As much as I'm not a big fan of anything involving the freedom or its derivatives including this one I will admit that this does not look that bad. It improves as much as it could of the original high-grade kit and that's on top of all the gimmicks working pretty well. Sure there are some issues and if you really stop to think about it, it's literally just a slightly upgraded version of the original strike freedom but hey at least it fits in your collection if you're collecting them. Another soild review man!
The hype blew it out of proportion, but it's a solid kit outside of that. It's up to you to decide whether the SAS and slightly different gimmicks are worth it. Happy to have delivered!
having owned the hgce sf and ranting about the gold quality, weird proportioned head, overall jankiness in the wings rifles sabers and head, im glad this serves as essentially a revive^2 sfreedom
Ish, but the gold still suffers. I'm glad my painting comes in though. I don't regret sacrificing the UV reactivity for a more appealing gold in standard light
@@mj2005gundam for real uv gold is truly an interesting feature Until i can find a good gold paint / spray im stuck with ex yellow gold (its legit amazing) What golds do you recommend? (For example hg m1 astray in gold frame)
I'm surprised the Railguns aren't compatible (at least when it comes to side and backskirt storage). When I saw the suspicious unexplained adaptor port for the Railgun, I was sure it was for compatibility with the MSF. It would've given people "incentive" to mass buy the Gelgoog Menace which is already one of the more expensive Seed Freedom HGs. Maybe they'll specifically make Railguns that are compatible with the inevitable SF Type II p-bandai kit to give people incentive to buy it cause it's all too easy already to just kitbash it with the old HGCE SF to make the Type II. Honestly, I'm not too miffed none the HGs or the RG Impulse didn't come with the railgun. They were definitely crucial in their fight against the black knights but aesthetically, I think they look way too large and bulky for most of the suits that use them and I prefer the aesthetics of the default beam rifles. Especially for the SF and IJ (I like my colored trims okey lol). Before I found out about the storage incompatibility, I was fully intending to just give the MSF the one Railgun the Gelgoog came with and just store it in the backskirt but seeing how massive it is just makes me think it'll ruin the Freedom's silhouette if I decide to do the angel pose. In the end, they'll probably release a parts set ala the Striker Packs for some Railguns. Hopefully they have mercy on us and at least provide at least 2 per set. That or just 3D print them.
I haven't seen the movie yet but I kinda figured out that Sunrise will insist that Strike Freedom is Kira's one and only suit. It's like they dumped Aegis and Savior Gundam just to "give him an excuse to use Freedom Gundam" or "make Kira look good"
I wanted to do a Toy Story intro of them expressing "I don't wanna play with you anymore" to the Rising Freedom given how it got shafted. It's that and how they don't wanna try new things, or this was planned before the movie got shelved initially
I'm very glad that the HGCE Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam uses an entirely new mold instead of reusing the old HGCE Strike Freedom Gundam. It's not that it's a bad kit. But compared to the HGCE Destiny Gundam and Infinite Justice Gundam, it really pales in comparison. The HGCE MSF Gundam now places it on par with most modern HG in terms of engineering. TL;DR Will DEFINITELY buy this.
To me, it's just the hype that blew it out of proportion, creating the false impression that it falls short. Otherwise, with all the engineering feats, and slight issues notwithstanding, I'd recommend picking this kit up if possible.
@@Inactive.Kouryu who cares? We have the paint guide to make our own HGCE Strike Freedom DX, so we can just transplant the backpacks and call it. We finally beat Bandai at their game for once

No, I don't own one. The only problem I could imagine with it is the fuselage of the Proud Defender. If the METEOR can clear that, then there shouldn't be any problems
The ankles are sooooo much better than the revive, thankfully. Not sure why the HG revive kits all had worse ankles than their HG All Gundam Project predecessors.
From a quick search, £144.92 on Amazon. Unless you get the 3rd party effect parts from DDB Corgi and paint the standard one with the colors of the Mighty, which would be a lot cheaper.
It's ironic how this not-so new Strike Freedom is a better kit than the Rising Freedom engineering wise, especially with color separation. Simplicity can really help sometimes.
Looks too flashy to my liking. Flashier than HG Aerial. Not saying I don't like it, I just have an old man complex of liking the simpler things. Plus the steep price doesn't make it any better. My cousin liked it tho, he literally brought his HG Mighty to theaters watching Seed Freedom.
That's cute. Though yeah, I can see why it may be a bit too flashy for some people. Doesn't help that its abilities literally involve emitting more light
I mean, wasn't it a heated debate where the chest cannon should've been when the final poster of the movie came out? As for the heads, I'm still 50/50. Trying not to let recency bias get to me

@@mj2005gundam I know right?, it's a work of art I tell ya.
If I were to buy just one kit between the rising freedom Gundam and The mighty strike freedom, which one should I go for?
If you're talking about kits alone, Mighty, by a long shot
@@mj2005gundam yes I'm talking about these HG kits, in terms of quality and engineering
Gue bisa bilang lebih suka Versi Mighty Strike Freedom paling bagus dibandingkan yang biasa agak jauh beda sama backpack lamanya
To each their own. I don't have a preference at the moment, but the 8-year engineering gap definitely showed
Thanks for the review MJ!
No problem 👍
Bro I swear if I’m in a mobile suit and I hear the meteor play I am surrendering I’m not trying to get my ass cheeks clapped by Jesus Yamato
That's literally the "Why do I hear boss music" of the Cosmic Era
Finally somone who paints the head vulcans. ❤😊 you're one of the few model kit reviewers here who does that. it really pains me seeing HG kits with unpainted head vulcans. Its also the reason why I pass on most HGs... when the head vulcans arent seperate pieces for accuracy... thats a hard pass for me. Excellent job on this bro!
I'm glad you like the effort, but asking for color-separated head vulcans on an HG is a bit of a big ask for most cases if you ask me.
@@mj2005gundam hehehe I know... but if they can do it for RG maybe they can extend that with HG but that could amp the price. Keep the videos going bro! 🥰
"Cooler Strike Freedom"
Feels like 1.5 Update of Strike Freedom, there are some flawed design like sliding panels ( if you paint it it'll be easily scratched), stacked railgun with beam saber and rifle, and partsformers crest. However many improvements you mentions here more than enough to overcome those flaws
To be frank, the head crest partsforming is a reasonable compromise for the fact that it's just too small to hinge. The real issues are the gates, the gold, and the neck. Otherwise, the pros balance out the cons enough
How compatible is it with the HGCE Strike Freedom? I was thinking of doing a kit bash to get a more accurate better articulated Strike freedom tbh
Besides the head, legs, and backpack, the parts are incompatible with the standard Strike Freedom. Blame the SEED Action System for that
@@mj2005gundam eh nothing a little modification can’t do, besides all I need is the new head for that great color separation, the more accurate chest, and the beam shield emitters and it should be good. Just gotta figure out how to keep the rail guns
The Type 2 reminds me of Gundam Wing EW suits. i mean the suit looks the same with minor upgrades. kinda wished they name it kai instead of Type 2
SF losing most of its weapons reminds me of Seed, the superiority of Cal-Rea over SF type 2 armaments before switching to Proud Defender Upgrade.
But in a normal context, not sure
if i buy 2kits and kinda combine the wings with sword holes
is it possible to make the backpack wield 2 katanas
Based on the manuals and my build, I'd say it's theoretically possible to mount 2 katanas just by building the joints in reverse
@@mj2005gundam yes! that is great to hear
thank you for a quick reply
Hi, just wondering, is the head part supposed to be loose while posing this kit? I've heard complaints about how the head has issues looking upwards and when shaking the head just goes all over the place
The best way to fix that is to literally glue or cement the collar into the chest, and doubly making sure that the rear of the collar is plugged in all the way. Even with proper assembly, the connection comes undone way too easily.
Oh thank gad it's not the HGCE again, I've built the original, the Amazing, and the Perfect variants
That was literally my experience during the days leading up to this kit, and thank god for the break
Actually, it's still HGCE but with "upgraded" articulation
I'm just glad that the Futsunomitama is not just an all-white piece of plastic.
I'm glad all we needed to paint was the gold pommel. Such a step up from almost every other katana in HG form
Kinda planning to buy
Tho after the hype will the price go down from 190 hkd?
Once the hype and demand decrease, the price will drop too. It happened like clockwork in the HK economy, even for G-Witch kits
@@mj2005gundam noticed that since i saw calibarn is also 190 hkd+ before now its lower
Thank you

Figure rise Lacus Clyne in her new pilot suit when? Also will it be separate parts or waterslides or womb stickers
Soon, as soon as they master using the soft materials for the important bits like Luna
I honestly liked how the Rising Freedom's color scheme looked more than Strike Freedom's but I can admit the sword and the lines in the extended wings do look nice
I like the change the Rising Freedom tried to bring. At the same time, energy bits are my bread and butter
what an epic intro! And an epic hg as well
I'm dead! All joking aside, this kit achieved a lot, enough to offset the flaws for me
As much as I'm not a big fan of anything involving the freedom or its derivatives including this one I will admit that this does not look that bad.
@@mj2005gundam for real uv gold is truly an interesting feature
Until i can find a good gold paint / spray im stuck with ex yellow gold (its legit amazing)
What golds do you recommend?

Kira and Lacus: Nanoparticles son
Not just any old nanoparticles, PSYCHIC nanoparticles
What action base you used for mighty strike freedom & rising freedom ?
It's the Action Base 2
I want one but will mod a custom mg mighty sf for now
Looks beautiful ngl
It is quite beautiful, but scratch-building one in 1/100 scale is gonna be a lot of work
what are the odds that we get an mg of this since its structurely and visually similar to strike freedom
I'd say 95%. Gotta milk everything about SEED after all. I have no guarantees of when though
ayy glad to see furupura-san in this review
Ah, I now understand. You mean the Japanese RUclipsr I talked about. Sorry about that 😅
Wonder if Bandai will release a new MGEX Strike Freedom with the Proud Defender Striker Pack or as a separate PBandai Kit.
You know for sure they will do that within the next decade or so. SEED is just too lucrative to stop milking from
Im glad its brand new, my HGCE strike freedom revive is super loose due to the shitty polycaps and gold injection plus that super fiddly wings
The wings aren't as fiddly as the RG Freedom's, trust me. Those PC pieces though, just a bit unlucky and unreliable aren't they?
Maybe they'll make a P-Bandai expansion set like they did the G-Witch aces. Who knows? Bandai are selling weapon sets in P-Bandai nowadays.
Now let’s just wait for the ♾ justice type 2 😊😊😊
Cross your fingers and pray that I get lucky with HLJ orders again
Honestly, I want to see Rising Freedom with Proud Defender as it base backpack
We can in head canon. It's just a matter of how a battery can support the power usage now
@@mj2005gundam oh I’m not mean the gundam, I mean the gunpla (the plastic model can still be considered as gunpla irl right)
Full pair of hands, I am satisfied
Same here
I'm very glad that the HGCE Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam uses an entirely new mold instead of reusing the old HGCE Strike Freedom Gundam.
And the best part of this...
It's NOT Premium Bandai! 😅
(I do have a hunch that there will be a P-Bandai HGCE Strike Freedom Type II, though...)
@@Inactive.Kouryu who cares? We have the paint guide to make our own HGCE Strike Freedom DX, so we can just transplant the backpacks and call it. We finally beat Bandai at their game for once
Those wings definitely need some black and blue paint
"But then... it won't be in Lacus' colors anymore!"
JK, Gunpla is Freedom, so you can do as you wish
Cool suit but I think I still like the strike freedom more since it has more color difference in the wings but that's just me and I still haven't watched the new movie yet
Imagine a retelling of SEED Destiny if the Kira favoritism took over in an even more dramatic way
The Proud Defender is more a representation of Lacus with the white and pink. I've only made the connection when filming the video
Have you pre ordered the duel and buster gundam
Yes, so hopefully I'd be receiving them
Imma get this just for the backpack
Then customize it and put it on an RG Strike Freedom
Good luck making the connections work
Is it possible to swap out the lower legs for the original strike freedom?
Yes, since the HGCE Strike Freedom is of the universal standard
Sorry, I might have misread. It's possible to swap the entire leg, but the SEED Action System doesn't allow for just swapping the shins
@@mj2005gundam ahh. Thanks. Just wanted to know since apparently the shins are shorter on the Mighty? And I wanted to swap them out to make the Mighty taller.
Honestly....if HGCE Strike Freedom designed like MSF (proportionally, and the better face), I'm sure people will like it more.
I still like the HGCE Strike Freedom better, but I'm sure a lot would appreciate the Okawara proportions better
Is the strike freedom dx the same colors at the mighty strike freedom
Yes, same color tones and all.
@@mj2005gundam thank you I appreciate it
Skipping this one and getting the Justice Type II
Fair enough. I like that one more anyway
what you used to paint the gold?
Mr Metallic Color GX Rough Gold. It gives the shine and grain the Mighty SF would really benefit from
@@mj2005gundam thank you
Any idea if it fits the HG METEOR unit?
No, I don't own one. The only problem I could imagine with it is the fuselage of the Proud Defender. If the METEOR can clear that, then there shouldn't be any problems
Yeah i thought about that..i do think that the meteor has enough clearance to fit it..
The ankles are sooooo much better than the revive, thankfully. Not sure why the HG revive kits all had worse ankles than their HG All Gundam Project predecessors.
That's the one flaw of the HGCE I find, and it's consistent throughout the Build variants as well. Thankfully it's no longer the case for the Mighty
does the proud defender fit on the RG Strike Freedoom?
No. The RG Strike Freedom doesn't have the new backpack piece or the double hole attachment
Not possible as the port is different.
You can modify it with the ports in order to use it.
No
need a Master Grade of this.
They will in due time. SEED is their money machine after all
@@mj2005gundam sounds good, i just started out anyways and am keeping myself to just MGs only so that i don't get crazy with my purchases 😂
How much is hgce strike freedom wings of light dx edition
From a quick search, £144.92 on Amazon. Unless you get the 3rd party effect parts from DDB Corgi and paint the standard one with the colors of the Mighty, which would be a lot cheaper.
It's ironic how this not-so new Strike Freedom is a better kit than the Rising Freedom engineering wise, especially with color separation. Simplicity can really help sometimes.
Yeah. That's one thing I'm glad about them reusing old design foundations
Wait is that Destiny Spec II painted or is it the kit?
Yeah, I'm a time traveler. But seriously, it's a painted build.
what gold did you use?
Mr Metallic Color GX Rough Gold. It gives a sparkly gold with shine to blind your eyes, and grain to really accentuate the gold features
Kinda think it has too much white. Might add some color lines on its wings.
Though I think extra accents would be a bit much if you open the wing panels
Playing a dangerous game with the gif joke lol, but I love how the head looks compared to the hgce
I mean, wasn't it a heated debate where the chest cannon should've been when the final poster of the movie came out?
As for the heads, I'm still 50/50. Trying not to let recency bias get to me
Yeah that’s what you get for speaking ill of Lord Yamato, Supreme Emperor of the Gundam Metaverse.
Yes, how dare I stand in front of a cannon that disintegrates atoms and take the mickey out of the pilot and movie themes
Why they didn't add sliding mechanism like the rising one, i think that's neat
Edit : for sure imma will get this, all in the review look neat
The Rising didn't have a sliding mechanism in the wings. Though, I wish you luck in procuring one of these

I was half expecting them to reuse the old strike freedom's frame. I guess it's a pleasant surprise. But is it the same for the Infinite Justice Type II?
Most likely it would be retooled.
Then again, the HGCE Infinite Justice already uses the Seed Action system, or rather its prototype
@koweedate I do see the knees look similar to the justice before it became infinite justice .
Perhaps, but how much impressions would change is another question as the IJ already uses something similar to the SEED Action System
