The Indigenous flags are not national flags or flags that say that you support Indigenous issues, they represent Indigenous people. So why do we display these flags in public places when they only represent 3% of the population?
if we have three flags in the background we are telling the world that we are three countries. This is NOT the case! The aboriginal flag was stolen and hijacked, in breach of copyright law, from a Central Aboriginal artist and should not be flown. The Torres Straits flag should not be flown as it refers to an indigenous people who are separate from Aboriginal people and are located at the top of Cape York Peninsula. Remove these two flags!

As the only Aboriginal in My work team I'm treated like a racist because I don't agree with having to do a welcome to or acknowledgement to country at every meeting or function.
Can't stand the acknowledgement of traditional owners at every meeting. How can you thank someone for what has been stolen. The same public servants refuse to acknowledge Palawa genocide, insisting they are extinct, while paying lip service to others in a condescending virtue signal, while paying themselves and their chosen bureaucrat mates vast sums of money that never reach indigenous people. Imagine if Jacinta Price was given the same respect by media and politicians as the chosen loud obnoxious minions that push further divisions in the name of representation.
You have clarified what the problem is. A bunch of white leftist, academic, wealthy, mostly white women, telling aboriginal people, keep the victim mindset, continue reminding everyone else what is owed to you, without actually listening to the people they supposedly speak for. Kind of racist really..
I agree with you. 'We acknowledge the traditional owners'. In other words, 'We admit we are not the rightful owners', but don't intend to give up ownership. Its a ceding of sovereignty by people without the requisite power, authority or intention to do that. 'Welcome to Country', is just as bad. It's an explicit, unjustifiable, claim to sovereignty and a demand to ackno owledge sovereignty by a minority without the power to make good the claim or enforce the demand. Everybody larping. Hypocricy all round.

Hopefully this is the beginning of sanity returning to our country. I've been quite amazed at what certain activists have managed to get away with. I'm starting to hear more sensible opinions coming from some of our leaders & I admire Lana Collaris for taking a stand too. She articulated the problems with 'welcome to country' very well.
The thing about the Aboriginal flag is that it has no significance. As a recent fabrication it has no cultural nor historical value and as such it has no right to be flown on any government building. The same goes for the TSI flag which is even more recent than the Aboriginal flag because, ironically, the TSI people wanted to distance themselves form Aboriginals.
The Expensive Aboriginal Protest Flag has only been around for a week or so, in Dreamtime measurement and the poor old TSI want nothing to do with Aboriginals, they are a completely different race of people 👍

Convicts were Irish, English, Scottish, children and adults 1788-1868. My Irish ancestors native gaeltacht language and cultural customs were banned under foreign law. Seven years was the standard period of incarceration, for other's, longer. The Irish people's spent generations trying to stop this through their various Rebellions both in Ireland and here, it failed. As a result we're Aussie's.💙 No whinging intended. I was a 70's child, the youngest of older brothers and cousins.😊 Any food, music, customs, language (Munster dilect, what little I hold) that we grew up with is Irish in origin but we're Aussie's. We're just thankful for any cultural aspects that managed to survive throughout the generations. I walked out of a WTC at my daughter's school the other day. Having grown up on Aboriginal settlements in the NT, I have great empathy for our real Aboriginal folk who gain nothing from this divisive act. Makes me sick.
We're all Aussies and as such, none of us need to be welcomed to our own country. It doesn't matter to me if you were'nt born here or you're a fifth or sixth or whatever generation born Australian, if you love this place like I do, then we are all Australians together.

The bubble is going to be burst here in the near future.
I am 4th generation Italian as well as many other ethnic cultures born in Australia and I will not accept I need to be welcomed to my Indigenous place of birth.
They should accept donations rather than charge for a mandatory service. I know many people would be inclined to donate myself included especially if a lot of this madness ends.
Haha, imagine the guilt laden comments, stares from indigenous persons if you didn't donate....the same guilt trip they apply to "white" Australia 24/7 x 365 x eternity
Imagine living in a house with your ,say, 3 teenage kids, and every time they come home you stand at the door and perform a "welcome home" ceremony.... kids go downtown for a hungry jacks burger and mum's standing at the door with a "welcome to home" ceremony on return ....get over it, everyone...
Too right mate. Absolutely nothing. Oh hang on, apparently, back in the day, they paddled ~ 5000KM down to Tassie just to say hello to aboriginal Tasmania....NO!!
I was sympathetic to this 10 years ago. Now its just ubiquitous virtue signalling, usually on the taxpayers purse. Im a 4th generation Australian with no ties to any other country, so I really dont want to be constantly welcomed to my own country. I now decline to attend any of this nonsense.

If Dutton is serious, he will end equity in support of equality and meritocracy.
Yep. DEI going the way of the dodo would be fantastic, but is also incredibly important. We're competing against China, India, et al in terms of manufacturing and services... we're already expensive enough as it is, without throwing meritocracy out the window and employing people based on secondary characteristics. The bubble is going to be burst here in the near future.
There all F Wits, One Nation and One Flag United as One 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
About time, people of this country took a stand to this craziness. We are all Australians.
I don't know if i'm Arthur or Martha, just when I feel I am not welcome in this country, along comes the tax man wanting an extra $6,000 this year.
Stop this nonsense immediately… they only persist with this rubbish because there’s money is involved.
Thank you Juru people.
Recently attended a function of approx 1500 people without the Welcome to Country. It was refreshing and an inclusive event….very very enjoyable!
hooray common sense at last one flag one country for all we don't want division' sick of all this garbage
Went to local Tassie history talk
at a council meeting room a few weeks ago. 3 introduction to country within 5 minutes.
i was born on planet earth, does that give me ownership of the whole god damn planet??
There is no planet you live under a dome visible night and day.
I hear it in Big W while pushing the trolley around - respect to our first Australians, but it's well and truly lost the significance.
If we're gonna be hanging flags all over the place, how about the Eureka Stockade?
I am 4th generation Italian as well as many other ethnic cultures born in Australia and I will not accept I need to be welcomed to my Indigenous place of birth.
if the smoking ceremony is indeed traditional what did they use before shiny metal buckets?
They should accept donations rather than charge for a mandatory service. I know many people would be inclined to donate myself included especially if a lot of this madness ends.
Haha, imagine the guilt laden comments, stares from indigenous persons if you didn't donate....the same guilt trip they apply to "white" Australia 24/7 x 365 x eternity
Absolutely ludicrous.. and lucrative.
Well it’s a beginning of an end to one of the greatest scams ever
And most on the dole living it up.
I would like to see this dropped. It seems to be nothing more than performative.
I’d say atleast 40 percent of the aborginal population would be the same or lighter n skin colour as Lidia Thorpe
It's all about the money.
Holy crap Dutton grew a set of balls!
Ban it everywhere
Abolish the aboriginal corporation the funds don't Go to the poor aboriginal communities otherwise they would be living a middle class lifestyle
Finally...,....enough us enough ! I was beginning to wonder when some bright
spark was going to start a " Welcome to Earth " ceremony for everyone?
everything gets hijacked by politics/business.
Randall Ross is a legend.
The Torres strait Island flag flies in Tasmania, What did the Torres strait Islanders have to do with Tasmania?
Too right mate. Absolutely nothing. Oh hang on, apparently, back in the day, they paddled ~ 5000KM down to Tassie just to say hello to aboriginal Tasmania....NO!!
Welcome to Earth 🌏
I’m 6th generation Australian 🇦🇺. I won’t be welcomed to my own country and I won’t fly with Qantas
I now charge people who come to my work, its called welcome to garage.
Weldone Juru peoples!
I was born in this country I don't need to be welcomed at the start of every event
About Bloody Time!!!!! what a rort!!!
The fact that human beings are not indigenous to Australia defines all of us as immigrants, ALL OF US
Haha, you are so correct, yes they walked here, we came by boat. And the Bradshaw rock art, who did them - as aboriginal Australia says not them, adds another permutation to the mix?
@Paul-w9r1r any number of hominids could have made it to a coast line of "Australia , Sahul " but any evidence of that would now be 400+ feet under water
Cheech and Chong would attend every one of these smoking sessions!
