I quit caring about digital photography about the time the manufacturers started integrating video into DSLRs...
Now, I'm just a Shooter and a RUclips shooting (precision firearms, precision airguns, hunting, H 45, IV8888, etc, etc, etc) video addict.
I'm relatively new to the Newberg Channel and enjoy the Style and Class that you guys display. You've become the first channel I look for when I connect to RUclips and look at my Subscriptions category .
I really enjoyed hearing you talk about the different equipment, though.
    Happy New Year.

Thanks for subscribing. We are interested in hearing what people find helpful to filming their own hunts. We try to balance the crazy investment we have in gear with what is practical for the person with above-average interest in filming their own activities. Best to you in 2019.

I have tried to film a hunt for the first time this year, didn't pan out so well. In fact, I have a fair amount of the camera equipment you have mentioned. Great job on this video, I hope you have a blessed and happy new year. Keep up the great videos my friend.

I know you guys run a ton of video equipment. Charging is a must. Can you guys do a video or give an insight on the charging gear you run and ant tips for better charging in the backcountry?

Great video and you’ve made my day because I’ve put my camera package together already and it’s right in line with your suggestions! My cam corder is a Canon Vixia G21, and my POV is a TACTACAM 4.0 (upgraded from a 2.0 version). I added a good quality shotgun mic las year and use a Fourth Arrow camera arm (tree mounted) with their fluid head. I use the remote control to self film and I also carry but have not used yet my SONY NEX-6 which also takes great video. I bought a adapter to mount on my scope but have yet to learn how to operate they yet. So my biggest issue is simple it’s a lot more gear to carry even in
My Tensig fanny pack and it greatly complicates the hunt itself! Hunting undetected and getting shot opportunities can. E a challenge and self filming does add to the complications. That said you did a superb job and thank you to both you and Randy for sharing!

When recording with a cell phone how do you get the footage into adobe premiere? It always says it’s in a wrong format. Thanks

Great tips Dan!! I think for next year I might go with the phone, phoneskope and spotter. I'm in the market for a spotting scope anyways.

Good stuff there Dan, thank you for this sort of information.
The air gun shooters are mounting these point/shoot cameras directly to their rifle mounted scopes (using the viewfinder as the eyepiece of the scope's user end), and some have mounting systems which allow for the phone to nest parallel to the rifle scope and direct a view of the shot (probably with a mirror)from the side, while the shooter uses the scope in a traditional manner.
My question, would cameras hold up to the recoil of a centerfire cartridge if an attempt to use these types of platforms were tried? Most of what I see, are "PCP" (Pre-Charged Pneumatic) air rifles.

Here's what I was talking about previously: utahairguns.com/side-shot-phone-mount/
And, it would appear they hold up to centerfire rifle recoil. They're on sale, have one on order.

the sony alpha series is pretty good! the a6000 doesn't have an aux jack :( so the 6300 or 6500 is a must.

Do you need a film permit for a RUclips channel on public land

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  5 лет назад +1

Yes, if you monetize the channel. If it is only for personal interest and no commercial use, no permit required.

#1 Cellphone: stop holding it vertically. Nothing is more annoying than seeing only a small strip of vertical video.
