Thanks, Jason great review and instructional video! As a very old (aging Baby Boomer) who was once a wedding photographer back in the film only days, I'm so clueless at times with this technology! Doesn't matter whether it's GoPro or TATACAM, I struggle! Appreciate your advice! I'm even thinking about a video on my channel "So You Really Want To Self Film"! NIce job!
64gig. But any size works. I always format my cars after every trip once I store and back up ammo my footage. So in never have more than 10 or 20 clips at a time on a card.
Hey Jason - how are you handling the audio? It looks like you are sometimes using an external mic. Do you always use external audio, or do you find that the GoPro mic is sufficient? Also, how is the battery life on the camera, and how many batteries do you recommend for say a 3-4 hour hunt? I'm looking to start doing a little filming and trying to decide what to buy. Someone recommended that I buy the "Creator Edition" bundle, but it's almost $200 more than just buying the standard camera bundle. It comes with a battery grip/handle and what looks to be small external shotgun style mic case. Wondering if it's worth it or if I can get by with the basic package and a headband. Thanks as always!
@tonydawson2405 the media kit is great but you loose the waterproof ability of the camera. No way to run an external mic and keep it water proof. So I don't run a mic on the go pro. Or on my phone for hunting. In controlled situation videos I make I do use an external mic with my Sony or my phone. Battery life varies based on setting you are running. But you will want atleast 2 extra batteries as they only last about an hour or 2
I am using a hero8 and trying to figure out how to program it to come on when only pressing the record button like you did. I can’t figure it out. Any advice? Thanks
I have not played with it enough to trust it. But that's been on my todo list for a while. But many people will use the camera in hand as well shooting down at the ground showing tracks or up showing trees they are gonna hunt etc. Nit sure what hor lock will do in those situations. Like I said, never got around to testing it.
All of the creaking and cracking sound from a gopro kills the video for me. Maybe the brand new ones are better? When I watch a gopro vid of mine or someone else, sound goes down to 0. Unfortunate!
Audio issues are 99% in how a person uses it, hold it, mounts it. Gopro 3 mic audio is very solid when you use it right. And it allows me to whisper yet capture that audio perfectly.
Thank you , I really needed this. Had a GoPro for a couple years and wasn’t sure what I needed. Looking forward to this season.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for the video. I was thinking about getting a go-pro to record my hunts this fall. This helps a lot.

Thanks for sharing.

@@SamkoTradBow OK, thanks Jason! I am guessing the internal GoPro mic works OK for most recording then?

Figured it out.
glad you got it sorted. Sorry for the delayed response.
why not just use the horizon lock. so it wont matter how you tilt your head?

I believe horizontal lock will fix all that. The hero 11 offers hor lock and that’s a nice feature

You can actually turn off the front screen, no need to block it...
