Thank you Jeff. We hope this video helps answer any questions you may have. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or topics you want us to cover in the future.
An editing vlog from a hunting film perspective would be so awesome! also a bit more of a deep dive on settings and smaller pieces in your kit like polarizers and other filters etc...
We look forward to diving further into videos like that in the future. Thanks for tuning in. Any suggested topics you have we will take into consideration.
Thank you guys for doing this video, I’ve messaged almost all my favorite hunting shows and asked them what they use and to do an episode like this. Great to see one posted!
I would love to see a video on camera settings and on how you guys adjust those settings depending on different situations, lighting, distance from object being filmed, ect.
@@bpointtv I have a Sony A7 iii and looking at getting a long lens for filming 2 elk hunts this fall . Needing that long range zoom. Looking at the Sony 100-400 or 70-350 with the apsc Any recommendations would b appreciated
I’m sure you guys have changed your setup the past year. You should do an updated one and maybe when season rolls around you could do a behind the scenes video
Great video. Extremely helpful. When you are taking video, and its at dawn or dusk where do you start with your settings, like ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, and are you changing it constantly as the lighting is changing?
For video we run our exposure consistently at the same shutter speed which is dependent on your frame rate. At dawn or dusk you will want to run your aperture as low as possible and adjust your iso accordingly to your exposure meter.
Would the Sony rx10 III be good for self filming treestand hunts? Looking for a camera with great quality video and pictures for self filming! Awesome video!
I just bought the a6600 for hunting, real estate, weddings etc. I was totally going to buy the 18-105 lens to cover most of my projects but, I’m still unsure if 105mm will get the job done for hunting. What are your thoughts on having 105mm as opposed to the 200mm? Do you think it will do a decent enough job for bow hunting? Thanks so much!!
I have an a6400 and the 18-105 lens. It is plenty good enough for bow hunting. On an apsc camera the 105mm really becomes 157.5mm and the clear view zoom will get you another factor of 1.5 in 4K. So it’s really like a 236mm equivalent.
Thanks for the video, these Sony cameras are fantastic. I was wondering if you guys use nd filters to help maintain the 180 rule for shutter speed when you are using an open aperture and it’s bright out?
We like to use a variable ND. Here is the link to the pilot pro we prefer to use. It’s on the higher end in price but the quality is outstanding. www.polarprofilters.com/products/pmvnd-edii?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIs--2k9Pz8AIV1RitBh0BegAxEAAYASAAEgLRm_D_BwE&variant=32789908750420
As far as hunting in the tree audio, if you're running wireless mics, how can you still pick up natural audio from the encounter? eg. leaves crunching, deer grunting, etc.
Great question Kyle. The majority of the time when running a wireless mic we don’t have any issue still picking up that natural audio. The only exception may be when you are filming in windy conditions. Another good option to consider for a mic system if you are concerned about getting that natural audio is a Sony K1M or a K2M. They are pricey like most Audio is but it allows you to connect into the hot shoe adapter still. The perk is that you can run wireless mics and a shotgun mic and monitor both levels separately. The downside in my opinion is that it requires a lot more attention make sure your levels are correct.
We are using the Sony Tough G-Series SDXC UHS-II 128gb. They are a bit more pricey but the quality and transfer speeds make up for the price. If you are looking for something more cost efficient. San Disk makes a good v90 SD card that is priced better.
Love this stuff...even someone like me can learn a LOT from you guys! And I have a hard time absorbing this stuff 😉

good video guys - gear from real guys and budget friendly option in mind
Thank you!!
A video going over the settings you use and editing techniques would be great
We just so happen to have that in our bpointbreakdown playlist for you bud 👍.
Awesome stuff. I run a sony rx10iii I would love a more in depth video on that camera as well as the editing side of things.
Sounds good man we can do that.
would love to see a piece on what you use to edit and why you edit the way you do! Great job on this video!
Thanks Tim. We are definitely wanting to do something like that in the future
Thanks for the info.

The A7SIII would be a great choice for filming hunts.

We aren’t too familiar with that lease but Tameron makes some good affordable lenses.
