Adreed. I have been just doing my Android phone. Galaxy S10 e. It actually has a pretty good video editor surprisingly. Or I use the default one available on Windows. Called video editor. I definitely need to learn some better tools though.
You prolly dont care but if you're stoned like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all of the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my gf these days =)
i’m referencing this 4 year old video to start my journey of filming hunts…thankyou so much for your insight…i have a A1 and going to shoot with my 70-200 and the gopro ontop of the camera just helped me out so much. I was going to purchase a 24-105 sony f4 so i could have versatile shots having wide and zoom for kill shots but don’t want to drop 1200 dollars and want to utilize my 70-200. I was about to take my 16-35 and shoot the shooter talking in the blind then change when the deer come out but it’s WAY to much to worry about. You helped all of my worries
Great video man! I filmed my first harvest last year of my PA buck and I’m hooked! I won’t go in the woods without my camera gear now! Thanks for the useful information 👍🏻
Thanks for the great video, very informative, and everything was clearly explained. I have been hesitant to begin filming my own experience in the woods; your video helped "demystify" the process! Thanks again, and you have gained a new subscriber.
I went to b&h and bought a refurbished camera. $350 camera for $150. I went that route, because it’s my 1st year trying to video my hunts. Plus I figured it may get banged around, and what not. Also if I some how trash it. I’m not out a lot of money. Lol Refurbished might help some people obtain a more expensive camera for cheaper. Awesome video! Can’t wait for more!
I see this is part 1 and it's awesome but is there a part 2? I'd love someone to come out with a video describing different lenses used in videoing hunts and what each of those lenses give you at bow hunting distances. Absolutely NO ONE has anything like that even actual pure photography pages. Everyone just says this is for close up and this is for longer shots but no one puts that into yardages with an example or comparison. Love your videos man and this was awesome! I just got my very first cam which is a really good deal on a Sony a7ii With a kit lens (fe 3.5-5.6 28-70mm) and I'm trying to learn everything I can why hunting 😅😂 it definitely is more complicated but it's been fun
Well I'm just getting started already have my lil Cannon Vixa wait for my Tree Arms and Remote to arrive. Got Miles to go for sure but it's going to be a fun experience just the same. Thanks for the tips and tricks
Awesome video! Watched it while making a protein shake and meal prep for the next day. Very interesting to see good quality lighting compared to shadows during filming in low light.
Awesome tips and good video. Looking forward to more. I would be interested in tree stand solo filming tips and tricks, and also camera setting setup for good on the fly filming.
I need that cold shoe rail and some cube lights, that is a great little setup for DSLR users and really keeps the weight down. I thought about going full SmallRig cage for GH5 but this would be a far easier solution.
Great video! I’m new to filming hunts and making RUclips videos so this was very helpful! I’ve been trying to decide on a camera other than my GoPro, looks like it’ll be the FDR-ax700. Thanks for making this video!
When I first started filming hunts, I began thinking of what mount I would use. I think the mount is more important than the camera, in some cases. Get a good mount, and you can really start to produce solid video.
So true , I shot a mule deer buck at 80 yrds last year. I had my camera , and didn't hit record. It was such an amazing shot and I was so bummed. The deer ran maybe 20 yrds. He had no chance. I gave my friend the option to shoot him . He said he didn't have that shot . I practice probably 5 to 600 arrows aweek now but last year it was 5 to 600 arrows a day. So yes pressing record, is #1!!!
Great video! If u could do a part 2 where u tell us what parts of a video you need to film like bee role, interviews, and how to put a video together it would be awesome! Keep up the good videos!
What mount are you using for the lens frame mount for your go pro? I have been searching for something like that and can't find one that would work on my 6500 lens
Are you guys still running the a7riii? I have been looking into that camera. It mentions that you are gonna do a series about filming. Did you ever do that?
Hi, great video! And what a great idea to stick a GoPro on top off your camera! Only question is for the audio? You still capture the song from your camera and mix it on the editing?
Anyone watching this to get a budget camera, the panasonic fz300 is a great beginner camera that I use. It isn't the best in low light, but does everything well for about $300. Including awesome zoom!
Great information with this video. I have a Sony a7Rii but so noisy - would you mind sharing the camera settings you are using (even though you have the iii)? iso, shutter, ect. I know they change according to light but maybe daylight settings...especially the picture profiles. Do you do all manual exposure or anything auto? Thanks again!
Can I ask what f stop the lens on your main rig is? Is it an f/2.8... those long lenses with fixed f stops are huge and need their own tripods lol, at least for the Canons. Yours doesn’t look too ridiculously big. Asking because I have a DSLR rig and want to start doing some hunting vids.
You probably know this but I imagine most folks here might not. I'm sure now you run a newer mirrorless camera but for filming 4k video a bigger sensor like the one in that a7R is worse than the 12MP sensor in an older A7s2. Video and Photography are far different even through the camera does both. More MP's equals a noisy image when you boost the ISO for when most folks are doing the killing. 4k resolution only needs an 8MP sensor which is why the more video based mirrorless Sonys run a 12MP sensor. But like you said, you get into a pile of money when you get into mirrorless cameras. I just want to be sure people are buying the best for what they need. If you're printing a photo that's 3-4ft for a client or your home yes you need a bigger MP sensor but for video and social media photography, get the smaller MP sensor camera for low light performance in video.
When I get the money to have any camera. I for sure want to start a hunting taxerdermy channel so many hunts I wish I could have shared with others. Btw my phone hates recording so is not a option.
I have the Sony 70-200 f 2.8 on a A7III body. On the A7IIi you have a mode where you can shoot in crop mode, turning the 70-200 lens into a 105-300 f2.8 You don't lose hardly any quality either. The 70-300 lens is a variable f stop lens which kind of a pain sometimes.
"You can upgrade to reds and all kinds of weird stuff" 6:16
He has a $200,000 Phantom now🤣🤣
YEESSS! It’s not just that we like looking at Sarah, you actually film your content well.
Thanks for doing an in-depth video on how and why you do what you do. The editing process and how you use it is what has me stumped now.
If you could do a video on what editing app you guys use and how to use it! I would appreciate it so much! Btw loved the video!
Shay Outdoors I use LumaFusion it’s the best
I agree this is where I fail on my channel. I have no idea how to edit videos. I'd love a demo video. Thanks for sharing.
Jason Bubley that is the tricky part. I use Final Cut Pro X for all of my editing.

Realy awesome input love the fact he doesn't just push the most expensive one ! Just get the best you can and go for it!

I love this frigging channel. Nice to see a personable type guy doing this
Great video man! I filmed my first harvest last year of my PA buck and I’m hooked! I won’t go in the woods without my camera gear now! Thanks for the useful information 👍🏻
Awesome video. Its an unbelievably gratifying and challenging process which can only be truly appreciated when you experience it for yourself.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
That is invaluable information. Thank you so much! I will be using all your tips when starting to film my hunts this fall!
You are so welcome!
Thanks for the great video, very informative, and everything was clearly explained. I have been hesitant to begin filming my own experience in the woods; your video helped "demystify" the process! Thanks again, and you have gained a new subscriber.
This is Awesome!! Thank you so much!! This mini-series is going to help so many people. Looking forward to all parts to come.Thank you, guys
Wow best I have seen on this subject...been thinking bout this for a while...please do more of these...and even how to edit! Thanks

This was so awesome! I really hope you do some more parts soon. Especially, your tree stand setup. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
More to come!
Awesome! I can’t wait!!
Wow I never thought it would be that involved to film the Hunts! That is a lot of info to chew !! 👊
Great job breaking it all down !
Well I'm just getting started already have my lil Cannon Vixa wait for my Tree Arms and Remote to arrive. Got Miles to go for sure but it's going to be a fun experience just the same. Thanks for the tips and tricks
thanks for watching dude
holy crap, I had that same camera when I started my filming journey god how the time flies
Awesome video! Watched it while making a protein shake and meal prep for the next day. Very interesting to see good quality lighting compared to shadows during filming in low light.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for this video! Helped a bunch, can’t wait for more of these
Great video! I’m running pretty much all of the same gear for my films. Filming an archery Elk hunt in August and can’t wait.
Thank you! Good luck on your Elk hunt!
Bowmar Bowhunting thanks!
@@Productions-fe8hr how did your hunt go?
Awesome tips and good video. Looking forward to more. I would be interested in tree stand solo filming tips and tricks, and also camera setting setup for good on the fly filming.
Thanks you so much Josh! This helped me so much!
Glad it helped!
Great advice. Sure appreciate the time you guys put into these informative...and all of your videos!

Great stuff! Can’t wait for the next one.
My god this man is giant
What are you attaching your cube lights to? Did the camera have a cage of some sort. I just got a a7 iii so I’m geeking out over this stuff

This helped me 😂 but i think you should do a tree stand filming one next!
Josh, does the fact of now having flippy screens on most mirrorless cameras change your mind on using it over cam corder for self filming?
When you said the price of the sony i dropped my phone lol
Just saw this. Great video! When is part 2 coming out?!?!?
This video helped a lot and learned a lot too good job
I know this is a 4 year old video but I'd love to see a updated video or part 2 lol
@shay outdoors I am looking at a Sony z90 or the z150. While also running a Sony A7siii. Thoughts?
Great video man! Any way you can put a link to amazon on the cube lights, go pro accessories and things?
Great video! If u could do a part 2 where u tell us what parts of a video you need to film like bee role, interviews, and how to put a video together it would be awesome! Keep up the good videos!
thanks for the recommendation!

This is actually just what i need I just dm drurry Outdoors to ask them. I would love to go big time this next hunting season
Can you put a link to the light cubes and mounts for it?
Good stuff brutha!
I have a cannon eost6i. What is the best setting can I use when filming a hunt. I want to start doing this during my deer and Turkey hunts this fall.
Wanted to get a a73 couldn’t get it ended up getting a canon 90d with a 70-300, hopefully it works out for me 😬
Anyone watching this to get a budget camera, the panasonic fz300 is a great beginner camera that I use. It isn't the best in low light, but does everything well for about $300. Including awesome zoom!
What monopod do you use? It looks like it has a spike on it to stick in the ground? Great video very helpful.
What's some good editing software?

Great video!
I'm filming on 2 handheld cameras the video is alright I just need help with my videos and what shots to get and things like that

Is the 70mm good for trophy photos and recovery footage? Or would you recommend a narrower lens such as a tameron 14-24?
What is the bracket you use to mount your mic and everything on?
When I get the money to have any camera. I for sure want to start a hunting taxerdermy channel so many hunts I wish I could have shared with others. Btw my phone hates recording so is not a option.
Can you make a part2 cause I’m just starting when deer season starts it will be my first time filming what is the best camera with in 200 dollars
What is that called that you are hooking your audio, 2nd go pro and lighting too? Audio or sound bar?
Thanks for making the Siers iam just really giting in to videoing
Next video should be editing. PLEASE
Thank you
Great video but more light would be good
would it be possible to link your filming gear in an upcoming video
Is there a way to make the hero’s not beep when you hit the record button?
Connor Zaran you can tun off beeps in the settings menu
Pete Larson awe sweet thanks.
That’s a huge ground blind
Any reason you use the 70-300 vs the 70-200?
I have the Sony 70-200 f 2.8 on a A7III body. On the A7IIi you have a mode where you can shoot in crop mode, turning the 70-200 lens into a 105-300 f2.8 You don't lose hardly any quality either. The 70-300 lens is a variable f stop lens which kind of a pain sometimes.
Reminds me of my self 400 mg of test a week keep pumping
