I imported a 280S (W116) from Japan back in 1990's to Dubai, and I can tell you that these cars are the best ever. At the time I also had a 450SEL (W116 again) and that car also gave us good driving experience. Mercedes Benz engines are so good, well balanced and easy to maintain, and yes have that peculiar sound. Very good auto manufacturer, Mercedes Benz.

Used cars auctions in Japan re the best place on earth to buy used cars that are in excellent condition, been to few auctions in the suburbs of Tokyo back in 2003 and bought myself a BMW 3 series wagon and it was a gem of a car.
I used to live in Japan in the early 90s and these white Benz were driven exclusively by the Yakuza!! this car must have seen a lot!!! amazing!
nice it has no side repeaters on front wings like uk version.the other rubber to check is at front corners above bumbers as the mounting holes for the rubber strips usually rot.other thing to watch is seized air slide which you will get with stored cars
This is one perfect example of a W 126! Needs just a little bit of detailing, Arctic White Uni over blue leather is always a striking combination! Almost full options, pity these Japanese W 126 never featured the passenger side airbag, which became available in all other markets in late 1987! No power sunroof, but I'm fine with that, rarely opened anyways! Truly a collectors dream! So I understand You are in the car auctions business? I have thoughts about reimporting these classics back to good old Germany, maybe there is a chance for some sort of cooperative work? Would really appreciate to hear from You!
It looks like a NON-USA model with the original Euro bumpers and halogen headlights. In America, these old S-class benzes were fitted with 5MPH bumpers and sealed beam lites.

W126 king 👑 of the road
The coolant is the wrong color, it's supposed to be clear, not what's in the tank. Check the VC gaskets by pulling back gently, if the rubber cracks they need to be changed out.
W126 is still the best S-Klasse ever!
You got that right and possibly the best ever Mercedes ever so far

My uncle used to own a 560SEL, had 170,000kms and accident damage but overall in excellent condition, a few years ago a classic restoration shop in Germany bought it and shipped it from Japan and bought it for top $$$.
volvo was a good car , but now it's the worth car on the market , made in china

No comparison. These things run like tanks, nothing can stop them. Especially the diesels. The diesels can easily go 300,000 miles.
fabulousprofound W126- 420 versions run very wel if taken care of. Oil changes are really important and do them every 3,500 miles and with factory oil filter...
