Even though the hardware is a tad old at this point, lollipop still runs buttery smooth so your original point about lollipop being smooth is true. (not needing latest specs to have it be smooth)
but with phones like iPhone 6 Plus, Note 4, G3, and G Flex, these phones all come with one-handed options and features. Just have to turn them on. Does the Nexus 6 have them? Maybe you should talk about that Jon, or make a video about that. I think its a lot of people aren't talking about the phablets in ways that a consumer can really understand them. They are pretty much mini tablets with phone features. So if you not into tablets yet or you don't to carry around 2 devices, then the bigger phones are the better choice.
Me also and i haven't had any issues with it at all. Since Google is still updating it and probably will continue to do so in the future i really see no reason for a upgrade until a 4k display comes out.
rihohv You're a moron. Even 2k on a phone is overkill. 4k on a phone is a waste since the human eye can only discern up to about 320 PPI. It would just use more battery for nothing. But you're too stupid to realize that.
Ed Briggs Why exactly am i moron? If a new Nexus phone comes out and has a 4k display which in time it surely will. How does me purchasing it make me a moron? The 720p screen on my Nexus 4 is good enough for such a small screen. This is one of the reasons i haven't bought a 1080p phone yet. But that doesn't make the people who own one morons now does it? It's like driving a sports car or a truck in the city where your average speed is 40 km/h just to drive to work and home. Are those people morons as well? Please enlighten everyone on this matter if you will.
Used the N4 two years long until two days ago. Now i got the N6. The display is waaay better. It's sharper, has colors like from a different world, giantic (and that's definetly a good thing, will never go smaller in size). The camera is now on a very high level. The speakers are very loud and clear. Battery life has improved and is much more consistent. You can't really compare the two devices. It's absolutely worth the update, coming from the N4 :)
I got my Nexus 6 February 14th, 2015 and today is August 16th, 2016 and it's still rocking it with Android N beta version 5, started with Android N beta version 4, but of course originally had Android Lollipop 5.0 and now have the split screen in Android N beta! I love this phone's size and 6" screen still! Battery is still great and awesome for watching RUclips videos!
I had the nexus for a week before i picked up the note 4.The nexus was great and i was blown away since it was my first real flagship phone, coming from a second hand iphone 4. Then i got my note 4 and it was literally 10 times better. Even though the note and nexus are pretty much the same size, the note is just a little bit more narrow and it makes a world of difference. I'm the type of person that likes features. After using the nexus for a while, i was feeling left out because of all the other android phones had cool features like motoblur shake for camera, g3 double tape to unlock, and all the touchwize goodness as well as samsung hardware. With such a similar price between the note and nexus, it was hard for me to give up so many features and hardware advantages. I know that the note will probably not last as long as the nexus, but i only plan on keeping it for 2 years until the next big thing comes out.
If you're someone like me who need an unlocked phone, Nexus6 all the way. The Note 4 only is International version making it hit or miss with cell signal, also very unlikely to get actual LTE. You'll get HSPA+ on the Note 4 only
As a guy that's used Samsung, I would say pure Android experience all the way. Samsung may have a lot of cool software but they also suffocate your phone with bloatware that you don't even want to use. With stock Android, I feel like it's much more personal, customizable and clean.
I've had my 64GB White model for about 6 weeks now and i still love it every piece as much as i did when i bought it. Yes, the Samsung Note 4 does do more but my Nexus 6 with Lollipop just does everything you do day to day so much better than any other phone out there. And i got used to the size within about a week!
I have had my nexus 6 for about a month and a half now and I must say I really did make the right design on buying a phone. The size does not bother me at all and I use it as a replacement for my galaxy s5 and my iPad mini 2. I have a case on it which is a wallet case so I don't need to carry my wallet with me anymore and it helps with the size issue. It also is a kickstand so watching videos and films on this phone is amazing. One thing I tend to do is have it on minimum brightness because I feel that the difference between having it minimum and maximum is just too small to sacrifice battery life. With this I can often get a very good 36 hours. Often my friends with iPhone's have said they are on like 5% when I am rocking about 70%. The free 6 months of Google play music is a huge bonus as well as you can upload all your music from your computer to it to stream so I don't need to have any music stored on my phone at all. A lot of people have complained it's very expensive and it is for me I bought it unlocked in the UK for £500 ($760) however in comparison to the iPhone equivalent of the iPhone 6 plus which for the 64gb model is £700 ($1063) it's just not worth it.
To combat the fingerprint issue I threw a dbrand carbon fiber skin on my phone with the nexus and Moto M cutout. This phone is the phone I've been waiting for Google to make since the Nexus One.
I'm on day two with my Nexus 6 after being a long time iPhone user and I love the smoothness of stock android on this, only minor gripes are the camera and battery life could be better but it's manageable
Were you just using old footage for all the n6 close ups? I'm finding it hard to believe that you've used a phone for 3 months and it still has the same configuration it had when you first start up the phone.
He said they have test phones, plural, as if they have multiple Nexus 6's. Either one was untouched, or he simply factory reset it for the video after making a full backup in TWRP and Titanium Backup.
Well if you do a full back up on TWRP, you wouldn't need to use titanium backup. Anyway, I don't think he would root a test phone. Keep it completely stock, since that's how most consumers so be experiencing the phone
Watched on a nexus 6. Came from the note 2 and this phone is amazing. Decided between the note 4, iPhone 6plus and this and have no regrets. Its big but very doable. If you watch videos often that small initial size hurdle he talks about will not matter as the screen is beautiful.
I got mine a few weeks ago and honestly the size is crazy. However, you get used to it quickly. I now hold my old HTC M7 (loved this phone too) and it feels tiny. Great phone, no regrets.
I honestly don't get why people are saying that its a HUGE phone. I have a nexus 6 and the size doesn't matter to me. I've gotten use to the size fast and using it for 2 months now, it feels natural not so big. I went from a iPhone 5 to a Galaxy s4 and now the nexus 6 in the past 3 years.
Won my nexus in a competition and absolutely love it. Picking up phones like the iPhone 6 and HTC one m8 just feels ridiculous now. I will not be going back to a smaller screen... Ever.
I Love this phone!! I went from a Galaxy Mega 6.3 to the Nexus so size was never a problem for me. The only gripe I have is I'm used to expandable storage and a removable battery. Other than that no problems.
I have the nexus 6 and I don't get what people go on about the phone being massive, when you compare it to other phones it does look really big but after using it for like 2-3 days it feels absolutely perfect. I don't think I will ever use a phone under 5.5 inch screen size again I can use the Nexus one handed and I don't ever feel like it is going to drop, I do have pretty big hands though
I think I would wait for the next LG phone like G4. Hopefully it still has multi window function and slide a side and Qslide. Also quick memo. The Nexus phones probably won't ever bring a multi window option. the Nexus just seem too plain. Plus i love my battery life. My phone has 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal, plus I can use my google drive, box, dropbox, and One Drive accounts. Memory isn't the subject anymore. Of course we want great performance and Snapdragon 800 and 801 might be outdated to most people. I still feel it runs smoothly for me. Snapdragon 800 is still pretty good. I don't use my G Flex for gaming, but mainly social networks like Google+, and emailing with the new Outlook Preview app, love that app, and youtubing and surfing the web if needed. I have other apps I use, I also started me up a new blogging site as well, so that quick memo function helps out a lot. But consumers going like and dislike whatever. So is the Nexus 6 better than the Note 4 and Moto X? lol We already know the answer to that Jon. lol
Oh and I love the floating notifications for calls and text messages on the LG phones and shortcut widgets on lockscreen and the cinema effect it does in landscape mode on lockscreen. I just enjoy the smaller things in life. Makes a bigger difference.
nexus 5 is cheap as fuck feeling, Realllllly bad mono speaker, camera is meh, screen is a nice size, but its not the best quality. Nexus 5 is really cheap. Id go with the one plus one. Its about to get the lolipop update. And you can buy it online easily whenever their is a holiday they allow everyone to buy it
I have the Nexus 6 and my friend has the note 4 and they are pretty much the same size. Before the nexus 6 I had an iPhone 5 so I know what a small screen feels like but after a few weeks of using the N6 it doesn't even feel big. The curves on the back really make your hand sit a certain way and with the dimple on the back from grip I can pretty much one hand it all the time whether I'm watching RUclips or texting. every no wand then I'll be holding the phone in a weird position and it gets really hard to use one handed but most of the time it is really easy. My hands aren't that big but I wouldn't say I have small hands.
I was a iphone user and i bought nexus 6. I love my nexus 6. Hopefully android 5.1 will fix the camera issues and battery issues. Its the best android phones in the market. Its really rare to find or buy one.
You didn't talk bout battery life? How was your battery life? Mines is HIT OR MISS. There are days I can get about 16-18 hours of heavy use then there are days where I get 8-9 hours. With some diligence I can get thru a entire day on one charge.
the battery with mine lasts me a day and a half always, playing clash of clans, watching videos, lots of calls. It lasts me more than with oneplus one. Secret? yeah, removed the forced encryption. That is what messes with the battery on nexus 6.
***** Dude, is removing forced encryption fom N6 worth it? I mean, I just got this beast like 2 weeks ago and I wanna do so much with it, but I'm afraid that I will brick it or something.
B shots were really out of focus this time. Who was on camera? Anyway, still hoping to get my hands on one of these beauties in white. Just rebuilt my Nexus 5 but the N6 has been calling my name for a while. Nice video!
I love my Nexus 6 and Lollipop. It's fast, but aphasia hey that Android stutter. my old iPhone 4s is still much smoother. If you start opening stuff and doing a lot of switch around, tale a picture, and switch out, it always stutters. Hopefully just software, but it's always been like that, and that's one thing I miss fro, having using an iPhone, the smoothness. Oh well.
I like the multi-colored mini blocks background on your set. However, depending on the shirt you wear, it really makes it challenging to focus on what you're saying. Your shirt had a similar pattern but with completely different colors. It really clashed! But if I need to test the color accuracy and gamut of a PC, tablet, or smartphone, I'll play this video to see if the graphic cards can handle it without exploding! :-)
Is it true that Nexus phones get more updates than other Androids that have been released in the same year? Do some Nexus phones even get more updates than Androids released the year after the Nexus phone?
nathan jones Because I had issues with the phone such as burn in, speakers popping, and Motorola decided that I had to get a REFURBISHED phone after having it for only 8 days.. It ruined my experience because I should be getting a brand new one considering its a manufacturing problem
Ok... should I get the Nexus 6 or wait for the HTC One M9? I am coming from an iPhone 5s and really want a bigger screen. I tried out the nexus 6 and it felt nice and wasn't too big for me. That being said i didn't want THAT much of a bigger screen, I wanted specs and performance. It just turned out that the nexus 6 has all the top specs I want with pure android. Should I wait for the M9 or go for the Nexus 6???
I can'd decide between Note 4 and Nexus 6. The phone I'd like to have is a big, fast and smooth Android Phablet, and these are the two best options on the market. I like them both, but there are some reasons to buy one instead of the other. I like the Nexus 6 because it has a better design, in my opinion, and it's even more beautiful with the dbrand skins on it. Stock Lollipop is beautiful, way better than TouchWiz, and you can see smoother animations instead of the irritating lags. Everything looks very fluid, it's really fast. And it gets updates almost immediately from google, with long term support (like the nexus 4, still supported), in these days you will get 5.1 with many important improvements, nothing on the Note 4. And probably the Nexus 6 will last me 2 years, I can't buy a phone every year...The Note 4 has a better camera, better display, better screen glass, more sensors, fingerprint scanner, multitasking, spen, many accessories like the Gear VR or the S-View, IR Blaster... almost unlimited features, but if the phone gets slow I won't care about them anymore. So if I want a phone for two years, which do you suggest to buy?
The Note 4 is actually optimized with touchwiz...the Note series was always better than the crappy s series...but this time Samsung hit the nail on the head. I've had it for 3 months, no hiccups or lag at ALL.
whitebeard007 I've bought a Note 4 about 10 days ago. It's a great device, no problems with it. It's fast and smooth, it has the best display I've ever seen, the camera is amazing, maybe only the Lumia 1020 has a better camera. The Best mobile processor (Qualcomm's SnapDragon 810 is useless, I don't know any application that uses OctaCore processors, and the frequency is only 2 GHZ, when the 805 has 2.7 GHZ) and 3GB of RAM (truly used by the phone). Graphics on this phone are beautiful, some games look that the ones on a home console, and everything runs very fluid: I played Dead Trigger 2, Real Racing, Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat 5. I don't like only one thing about this device: its edges. The shiny aluminium can be beautiful when you unbox your device, but after few days they are full of scratches, and I always used it with the original flip cover. I'd like to have them entirely painted in black...
I wonder what google has against SD cards, I mean even without it we're still gonna expand memory using otg so just give us the option. Especially if you're gonna be charging premium with a mediocre camera.
Please John, don't use such a distracting background for the video. The whole point of video is to show content, thus you shouldn't let the background steal all the credit. Especially not with a matching checkered shirt, that's just too much. Revamp John, re-do and make it right, cheers!
Oh by the way google nailed it with this nexus 6 all they need to do next is to put a damn memory card option on next nexus please john tell google maybe they will listen to you....
Lol my nexus 6 back cover popped off lol funny you said that I think since I be watching RUclips a lot while charging I guess the glue got unglued...lol due to a little heat...
Nexus 6 is a fantastic phone but is seriously overpriced. It has an exceptional camera but lacks the proper software to utilize it. The policy of making phones that you cannot replace the battery in is ignorant because it forces you to get a new phone when the battery dies just as non-expandable memory forces you to get a new phone when you run out of storage space.
Still have a nexus 5 and i still love it!
The Nexus 5 is still a great phone.
Even though the hardware is a tad old at this point, lollipop still runs buttery smooth so your original point about lollipop being smooth is true. (not needing latest specs to have it be smooth)
goff0103 it REALLY isn't, I have it now as my daily driver and the battery life is completely unacceptable, plus's all the logo stickers fell out
And I want to upgrade to nexus 6 😑
but with phones like iPhone 6 Plus, Note 4, G3, and G Flex, these phones all come with one-handed options and features. Just have to turn them on. Does the Nexus 6 have them? Just ordered mine last night, I am sooooo pumped. Thanks for the reassuring video!
Wooo!
Awesome!
I have one and it is such a great phone!!!! It is my first android phone coming from an iPhone and I am never going back to crapple.
Yasir Ahmad same I was so surprised
I'm typing this comment on it, holy crap it feels like such am upgrade from the nexus 4! Thanks for your input guys.
Still using the Nexus 4.
Ed Briggs dont just call people morons like that
Ed Briggs Why exactly am i moron? If a new Nexus phone comes out and has a 4k display which in time it surely will. How does me purchasing it make me a moron?
The 720p screen on my Nexus 4 is good enough for such a small screen. This is one of the reasons i haven't bought a 1080p phone yet. But that doesn't make the people who own one morons now does it?
It's like driving a sports car or a truck in the city where your average speed is 40 km/h just to drive to work and home. Are those people morons as well?

Used the N4 two years long until two days ago. Now i got the N6. The display is waaay better. I got used to the size of my Nexus 6 pretty quick, now it feels like I'm holding my Nexus 5. Love this Phone.
I got my Nexus 6 February 14th, 2015 and today is August 16th, 2016 and it's still rocking it with Android N beta version 5, started with Android N beta version 4, but of course originally had Android Lollipop 5.0 and now have the split screen in Android N beta! Every non nexus Android phone after 1 and a half years:
irrelevant
that's why contracts are 18 months long
Contracts are usually 2 years aren't they?
***** depends, in the UK 18 and 24 month contracts are popular or you can get a "refresh" contract so you can change device more often.
More like 1 year...
That's the case for almost every technology... No surprises here.
"Let's get Nexy" I will never be able to hear the Nexus name the same ever again.
Nexypl
:D
Love my nexus 6. Still running great.
the desire to get a new flagship is infinite!
The Nexus 6's screen is the third most colour-accurate screen on the market right now, after the Nokia Lumia 620 and the Sharp Aquos Crystal.
I have had my nexus 6 for about a month and a half now and I must say I really did make the right design on buying a phone. I'm on day two with my Nexus 6 after being a long time iPhone user and I love the smoothness of stock android on this, only minor gripes are the camera and battery life could be better but it's manageable
I got the LG G3 and now im Going to add this Nexus 6 to my line

Still love mine & I agree it does still feel big at times. For me, this is the absolute limit for phone size.
You mentioned tweaking the saturation of the display. How do you do that?
I got mine a few weeks ago and honestly the size is crazy. However, you get used to it quickly. I now hold my old HTC M7 (loved this phone too) and it feels tiny. Great phone, no regrets.
At 2:06, you can clearly see the back has lifted around the volume key.

Won my nexus in a competition and absolutely love it. Picking up phones like the iPhone 6 and HTC one m8 just feels ridiculous now. I will not be going back to a smaller screen... Ever.
nexus 5 was a masterpiece in EVERY ASPECT!-DISPLAY,POWER,SOFTWARE,DESIGN....PRICE! Google fucked up with size this time.
I love my Nexus 6, the best phone I've ever owned.
How do you change the saturation? Is it a setting that I just missed our did you use some app? That would really nice to have control over.
I Love this phone!! I went from a Galaxy Mega 6.3 to the Nexus so size was never a problem for me. The only gripe I have is I'm used to expandable storage and a removable battery. Other than that no problems.
Seems like a great a device and since it's a Nexus it overcomes any hardware shortfalls that the Note might not have e.g. the camera.
I have the nexus 6 and I don't get what people go on about the phone being massive, when you compare it to other phones it does look really big but after using it for like 2-3 days it feels absolutely perfect. Nexus 5 is still better,it's cheaper and still get update fast.Nexus 6 is really big and cost 2x the price of Nexus 5
I want a android phone that has stock android and I want the price to be under $450, should I go with the nexus 5
yeah nexus 5 is still great
Nexus 5 is still a solid choice. If I were you I'd have a look at OnePlus One too.
nexus 5 is cheap as fuck feeling, Realllllly bad mono speaker, camera is meh, screen is a nice size, but its not the best quality. Nexus 5 is really cheap. Id go with the one plus one. Its about to get the lolipop update. And you can buy it online easily whenever their is a holiday they allow everyone to buy it
with a coupon you can snab the moto x 2014 for under $450.
Go for the oneplusone, absolutely loving mine! Absolutely amazing amazing phone for the price! :)
i have a note 4 so i guess i cant really talk but my goodness, that things looks insanely big in his hands. wtf
Yea way to big . I hope to god it doesnt catch on.
I have the Nexus 6 and my friend has the note 4 and they are pretty much the same size. Before the nexus 6 I had an iPhone 5 so I know what a small screen feels like but after a few weeks of using the N6 it doesn't even feel big. What did you use to tweak the display?
and, not a word on battery life. Good job
Get a Dbrand skin with the clear spigen case and you'll have a great looking nexus 6!
So how big will the next Nexus be?
Great review just picked one up. I have always been an apple fan but I figured that the nexus was a safe bet considering what you are getting.
What phone should i get with my upgrade? Ive been using this galaxy s3 now for 2 years. im looking at the Nexus 6 or a note 4?
I love my Nexus 6 mini, aka moto x 2014.
My Dream Phone
@John R. What's up with a note 4 months later review?
A 42 second ad on a 5:25 video? And I thought network television was bad.
You didn't talk bout battery life? How was your battery life? Mines is HIT OR MISS. There are days I can get about 16-18 hours of heavy use then there are days where I get 8-9 hours. With some diligence I can get thru a entire day on one charge.

Cool. Thanks for the advice. How do you turn off forced encryption?
Type remove forced encryption on youtube and you will find a video step by step on howntondo it. You can also look on xda
Thanks *****
***** Dude, is removing forced encryption fom N6 worth it? I mean, I just got this beast like 2 weeks ago and I wanna do so much with it, but I'm afraid that I will brick it or something.
Hell yes to the Dell Streak nod. I got made fun of a ton for having a big screen phone back then, lol.
B shots were really out of focus this time. Who was on camera?
Anyway, still hoping to get my hands on one of these beauties in white. Just rebuilt my Nexus 5 but the N6 has been calling my name for a while.
Nice video!
How did you tweak the saturation?
Love my nexus 6 what a great phone, thanks Motorola =)
Got one last week.. I love it, but I do wish is was a little bit smaller.
Need to see a Nexus 9 after three months...
Does the nexus 6 get screen burn in really quickly?
Nexus is awesome!!! Though I do agree with you. Maybe if it was kept at 5.6 to 5.7 with smaller bezels, and better camera. It would be flawless
How do you tweak the saturation?
Is it not the same camera as the one plus one
I like the background. Looks like wood blocks.
How is the battery life
I love my Nexus 6 and Lollipop. Oh well.
still using my Nexus 6
is eny1 having a volume bug/lag?
I wonder when I should upgrade from an LG G3. Q1 or Q2? I want a fun phone with a nice sized storage size.
I'm watching this on my nexus 6
Is it true that Nexus phones get more updates than other Androids that have been released in the same year? Do some Nexus phones even get more updates than Androids released the year after the Nexus phone?
Yes we always get updates first
Did u have burning marks on the screen?
I had this phone, it was great but Motorola customers service absolutely killed my experience, switched to an iPhone and have no regrets
how would that affect you liking the device, i don't get the relation between the two, unless your just an apple troll?
nathan jones Because I had issues with the phone such as burn in, speakers popping, and Motorola decided that I had to get a REFURBISHED phone after having it for only 8 days.. It ruined my experience because I should be getting a brand new one considering its a manufacturing problem
Austin Alexander
Well that's fair enough.
I had one. It had so many bugs and kept turning itself off. This made it impossible to use. I bought an iPhone 6 subsequently
Ok... should I get the Nexus 6 or wait for the HTC One M9? I am coming from an iPhone 5s and really want a bigger screen. I tried out the nexus 6 and it felt nice and wasn't too big for me. That being said i didn't want THAT much of a bigger screen, I wanted specs and performance. It just turned out that the nexus 6 has all the top specs I want with pure android. Should I wait for the M9 or go for the Nexus 6???
Wait and see how the m9 is and then make your judgement.
Ohh wait. M9 will most likely be amazing
Thanks guys I came to the decision to just wait and see what the M9 will bring.
what about the battery life?
im so confused. can't decide if i want a Note 4, M9, or this. they're all really nice phones. BUT very hard to decide.
NEXUS= Father of whole other android devices....
Nexus 6 by far
Danny Capua Thanks for your suggestion, I'm almost convinced I will buy the Nexus. With a black titanium skin and Spigen Slim Armor case
Rafal Iwanczuk noooo the note4. If you want pure android just flash cm. Trust me note 4 is amazing
That backdrop hurts my eyes :)
Any body know if this device heats up a lot during use.
Thanks T.T.
Should I get the nexus 6, or wait for the s6?
Albert Gonzalez noooo stock android is better
Neither
Nice shirt! you look good and professional in formals!
Can you forever delete factory installed apps is my question?
If you get it rooted then yes
4:09 Ad End !!! You're Welcome
"I wish it was a bit smaller"
Did ***** say that?
Well Nokia 1520 still bigger and better(esp camera wise).App support well its getting there.
I like big phones and I cannot lie....
I'm still using samsung galaxy ace with android 2.3.6. Maybe I should upgrade.
But don't mention the subpar battery life by comparison to its competitors.
It makes me mad how it doesn't have a micro sd slot.
Hey Jon, why did you stop posting on the other channel insidejonsmind? #AskTheBuffalo
My local at&t has a bunch of nexus 6 devices...
Lol my nexus 6 back cover popped off lol funny you said that I think since I be watching RUclips a lot while charging I guess the glue got unglued...lol due to a little heat...
lol "very large hands"? I think that was a typo on the teleprompter. Your hand size seems fairly average to me.
You mentioned +Nexypl
Battery?
6 Inches is way too big for a phone!
A 5 inch phone is perfect for me.
Make it 5 inch google please and batter camera
