Bike sounds like a v-twin now. I think the baffle is staying off so will definitely hear him coming now.

I did it on my '11 back when I had it living in Brisbane temporarily; I was able to install it with minimal tools out on the curb side on the street, all in a couple hours by myself. It really isn't too bad, but the parts are large and bulky and getting the pipes to link up precisely is tough. The most fiddly bit of the install was getting the rear cylinder down pipe in and matched up with the header, and tightening that clamp without it all falling apart.
The sound is ridiculous with the short steel can version (420mm long I think was the shortest street legal version, under that it's too loud), I had to start wearing earplugs on trips longer than an hour. It definitely woke the neighbours up in the morning...
the delkevic exhausts really are top notch. ive had em on a few bikes, the longest was 7 yrs on a cb900f hornet, 70somethin thou kms and still looked and sounded awsome. no cracks in welds or brackets. carbon wrap still looked new and with little effort the stainless still shone shiney. great choice mate.

This is on a friend's bike and the carbon muffler looks great, I have the stainless muffler on mine.
Hi ! I'm french guy and i'm looking to buy one exhaust for my DL650 L0, i have found delkevic and another firm : black widow (less expensive) Do you have an opinion on this firm ? (quality)
I have seen and heard a Black Widow exhaust on a friends 2021 650 and it is very nice.
They are more expensive here in Australia than the Delkevic.
I would choose the Black Widow.
She sounds pretty good with the baflle out 😁👍🏼

That vstrom exhaust is a tricky thing to change. Good looking vstrom.
Changing the exhaust was a lot harder than it looks in the video.
It's a very nice bike, been well looked after.
@@OzADVRider it can be a pain. Took mine of during a major service and it could have been a better solution from Suzuki's side. 😄 Smaller parts.
Hey there sir, Jon from Ozarks Backroads over here in Missouri, USA. I am considering the Delkevic system for my 2019 650XT but I am not sure if I will be able to fit my skid plate back on afterwards. It looks as though the cross over pipe between the front and rear pipes hangs down lower than the flattened out one on my stock system. Just wondering if you noticed if the cross over pipe hung lower or did your bash plate go on the same at it was before? Thanks sir.... :)
Hi Jon, I have the B&B skid plate and had to modify my rear mount but the skid plate itself is mounted in the same position and yes, the cross over pipe sits a little lower than the stock pipe. I see you have the Ravetech skid plate and from memory people have had to lower the skid plate to clear the delkevic pipe.

Great video. Just wondered how you find the noise level, and if it’s comfortable or not? I’m after something which adds some noise, but nothing that’s going to blow my ears off at 7am or on long journeys…cheers.
Hi mate, this was a friends bike but I have the same exhaust in stainless. It's the 350mm muffler which isn't too loud, I know of a few people who fitted shorter ones and got sick of it. I leave for work at 5.30am and haven't had any complaints from neighbours. No problems on long trips and I don't wear earplugs, I also have speakers in my helmet and can hear music or phone calls over the exhaust no problems.

Hey mate, I'm the lucky recipient of that instal. Here are a few notes, to hopefully help with your decision: the 350mm muffler is the right size if you don't want an exhaust that's going to be a nuisance.
This aftermarket mod makes the bike sound the way it should've right out of the factory. Some prefer the pipe with the baffle on and some without. I prefer it, without. IMHO it's not louder but has a deeper note (of course this is an option based on personal taste).
The build quality is a lot better than what you'd think you'd get for the money it costs. I've compared mine (which was purchased in 2021) to the one one Ian has, which was a few years older, and I recall Ian saying they've improved the construction.
As for longer trips, I strongly recommend using ear plugs regardless of after market exhausts. I've bought the Alpine Motosafe earplugs and they've made everything soooo much better for me. You can still hear everything, but they cut out all the wind noise frequencies. As a result, I arrive at my destination a lot less tired. Often enough I get going without the plugs in, and I'll soon stop just to put them on. They make THAT much of a difference for me. Good luck with your decision mate. Ride safe 🙂

@@in2ADV this is really helpful buddy thank you. I’ve been thinking of one for ages, as there doesn’t seem many options for the VStrom 650, unless you pay high end money, and I’d rather be able to keep an expensive helmet on my head, over paying up on a fancy exhaust, so I’m glad to hear it’s great value for money.
Good advice on the ear plugs, I think it’s time to pick some up for sure, so thank you for the recommendation.

Good job mate, how restricted is the stock pipe. Sounds so much better. how much weight is reduced do you think. Someone asked me but I can't remember lol.
Can't find the weight of the delkevic system, postage stamp says 6.5kgs. Stock system is 9kgs.

just the end can about 1.69kg if i remember right, dl1000xt. 350mm carbon fiber oval. saved over 6kg on the stock exhaust.
That looked very difficult bolting the centre stand back on, the colour looks silver must be the lighting
It was tricky getting in back in.
The bike is silver. Lighting wasn't great so I had to adjust colour in editing, so colours all look different.

Didn't think to weigh the new exhaust but its under 6.5kgs (14lbs) stock system is 9kg (20lbs)

According to the UK website the 350mm exhaust is legal but the shorter ones are not.

Sounds like a wet fart, original is sweeter, each to their own I guess.

I have a similar exhaust on my V-Strom but prefer it with the baffle in.

Hi Richard. Hope that you’re well. I have to say that the improvement in sound with the Delkevic in comparison to the stock exhaust is significant. The original sounded almost like a wet fart… The Vstrom (at least mine did) came alive after the install of the aftermarket exhaust. I’m not particularly a fan of loud exhausts, but I do prefer a deeper note. Are you playing the video on your phone? If so, you have to remember that mobile phones don’t accurately relay sound because of the small speakers. I can reassure you that in real life the bike sounds amazing.
However, I agree with you… To each their own. Stay upright!
