Do you put a lid on your aquarium? Some aquariums require lids and some don’t. For my planted aquariums, I’d like to have the lid on at nights or after the lights turn off 😊
Ryo Watanabe Yes, esp. within dwarf gouramis (in my case) - they try to jump all the time. Lids help. When are you replacing the black tubing for transparent ones?
Ryo Watanabe Have you considered making a hole in the lid where you place a plant, hydroponic-style? Grow some strawberries or something. It could be fun.
Ryo, I'm going to play the devils advocate and ask a somewhat obvious question from my point of view, so don't get upset. It's just a question. Why don't you just cut off that driftwood at the water level?
Smart idea for the lid. I love the sliding screen part! I use glass lids because I have Betta Fish. I like the glass lids that open up in the front or back. Nice to access the tank without taking the whole lid off.

Awesome work with the custom lid! What a huge selection of plastic at your local store! Tank is really starting to grow in! Your crypts look nice and healthy and not much melt has happened :)
Loving this tank, Ryo! I really enjoy how you relish every detail in everything that you do. Such a pleasure! I just bought some clear clips so I can put a lid on my rimless tank. I'm just waiting for the sheet of Lexan to arrive. I cover one of my goldfish tanks, but not the larger one because the boys in the big tank are huge and cannot jump out. The Lexan for the rimless tank is my blackwater tank, which I love so much. Have a great day today!
They likely won’t colour up in that tank because it’s very light, with minimal plant cover. A fully planted tank or one with a dark substrate/background will make them colour up way more
I've been using a cut dry erase bristle board on my tank for 3 months now. I didn't thinking ahead and figured the whiteboard would be fine for the moisture. It totally is... but now it's warping downwards LOLL. Thank you, this will save me in some time and in bristleboard
@watermelonraccoon636 I believe some random clear plastic material, but you could also use acrylic. Acrylic is very hard to cut though. I used to cut glass for frames at Michaels, and the acrylic on the cutter needed it's own stronger blade and more man power
The tank was cycled already. Did you watch the video where I got them? Also, i didn’t show on video but I checked my water parameters to make sure that there was no ammonia and nitrate
Ryo Watanabe ahh yes I did watch your most recent. I thought you set up the tanks and got an algae outbreak then bought shrimp. 😊 must have missed the part when you said your tank was cycled.
Your tank in the future fish room inspired me! Now I’ve decided I’ll use my spare tank to stock and grow the plants I like. I’m sure your rasbora will be brighter in the future, it took me a while to see my ember tetra finally looking orange enough. By the way, I’ve seen my honey gourami spitting water out of the surface during feeding time (he is so impatient 😆) it’s so adorable! Yours is still young maybe you’ll see that one day.
I have chilli rasbora, they don't light up unless in a comfortable dark environment. They are very skittish fish and need plenty of plant cover to feel safe , dark substrates and almond leaves would work a treat too. Bear in mind PH levels should ideally be low
That was pretty smooth design Ryo. My manzanita sticks out the whole center of my tank and I’m always concerned my rainbows are gonna jump. I plan on rescaping and probably will not have my wood sticking out next scape.
Here’s an idea Ryo! The gap where the filter pipes are, you could make a sliding net cut into the shape. That way any future fish can’t escape from there
The plants in your tank are really looking nice! I have actually started using a similar material for all of my tank lids. Cheap, easy to work with and looks great! I wonder if the reason your fish aren't coloring up is because possible the substrate color is too light or possibly the lack of plant cover is stressing them. Just a couple of thoughts. Great video! I look forward to an update video on the planted tank you did for the aquarium store.
Hi What's the plants that grow out from the tank ? I mean the little pond outside the house.. you said mushroom plant? Do you know what's the name I can find on line to buy? Thank you! Great aquascape BTW
Looks really nice Ryo. I was going to ask why you didn't add any plants with color other than green. But as I listened I heard you mention a red variety. I thought having just a solid green scape might have been boring. But your addition of red plants breaks that green up. I didn't see a carbon dioxide bubbler.
Nice job ryo some things are simple but expensive i rather make them myself too and save money for the important things like lights co2 system etc like one time i made a cooling fan for my tank and gotta say it works great lol
Hey Ryo, can I suggest something? Throw away those plastic in/out and replace it with glass lily pipes please. Somehow, it's the only thing that doesn't belong in your tank. It's spoiling the quality of the scape in my perspective.
Josh Cranfill you can add floating plants like duckweed, frogbit, or water lettuce to make the fish feel for safe and secure and keep them from jumping. :)
It’s impossible, that’s why you’ve got to try to make the best and most comfortable environment for your fish. All aquascape stores deal with this problem. Very unfortunate when the fish jumps out
Amano shrimp are a nightmare without a lid they tend to jump out for no particular reason, think they're just curious of what's behond there glass home.
Do you put a lid on your aquarium? Some aquariums require lids and some don’t. For my planted aquariums, I’d like to have the lid on at nights or after the lights turn off 😊

Your planted tank is so good.....I also want to make one.....
Ryo, I'm going to play the devils advocate and ask a somewhat obvious question from my point of view, so don't get upset. It's just a question.
Why don't you just cut off that driftwood at the water level?
Shah Auckburaully Very soon :) I’m gonna change it when I get the glass lily pipes
The "CHEAP & EASY Aquarium LID that Anyone can make!" part actually starts at 8:05
thank you.
Your neighborhood reminds me of the houses in the doraemon comics...

The Sliding door idea is game changing!!
That's a sick aquarium bro
nice video bro.
the video quality is wonderful.

Thank you very much. The tissue culture crypts I got states that melting will not happen so I’m very pleased about that :)
Pretty nice to see that much passion for your Hobby, man. Keep it up! Greetz from Hamburg, Germany

I literally just moved a three gallon to get it darker for my shrimp
Great work on your video consistency and quality! Always look forward to see what you have to showcase! Always love the patio Rice Fish!
Thank you 😊

Wait what material was used in the video i didnt catch it?
@watermelonraccoon636 I believe some random clear plastic material, but you could also use acrylic. Acrylic is very hard to cut though. I used to cut glass for frames at Michaels, and the acrylic on the cutter needed it's own stronger blade and more man power
At work right now, but I’ll watch when I get home. Can’t wait!
I love how it looks like the shrimp are doing a happy dance to celebrate the sliding door 🤣
How did you put your shrimp in the tank without a complete cycle? Or is the tank cycled already?
The tank was cycled already. Did you watch the video where I got them? Also, i didn’t show on video but I checked my water parameters to make sure that there was no ammonia and nitrate
Ryo Watanabe ahh yes I did watch your most recent. I thought you set up the tanks and got an algae outbreak then bought shrimp. 😊 must have missed the part when you said your tank was cycled.
Hey Ryo, just wondering what kind of shrimp you put in your planted tank? Thanks!
Amano/Yamato shrimp
Wait at 3:17 are those just plastic cases like tupperware, filled with stuff? I mean is that healthy for the fish?
If it’s healthy for humans, it’s good for fish 👌
Your tank in the future fish room inspired me! Now I’ve decided I’ll use my spare tank to stock and grow the plants I like. I’m sure your rasbora will be brighter in the future, it took me a while to see my ember tetra finally looking orange enough.

That’s awesome! I hope to see that someday too :)
The color of the drift wood is so pretty.
Also, how do you keep the water so clean, how often do you do a water change?
I have chilli rasbora, they don't light up unless in a comfortable dark environment. They are very skittish fish and need plenty of plant cover to feel safe , dark substrates and almond leaves would work a treat too. Bear in mind PH levels should ideally be low
Thank you 😊
Man it’s hard to find rice fish in the U.S. and the ones I found were like 20 dollars per which I think is way over priced. Anyway love the vids :)
Thank you 😊 yeah $20 is way too much unless it’s really rare variants
same. im trying to convince my local aquarium store to consider ordering some and breeding for sale. she is researching them now lol
I just got some, I hope they prosper- I'm so sad my big jar broke!
i just made one for my shallow betta tank. thanks for the tips
Beautiful tank and nice idea with sliding grid!
The sliding net idea is cool! How did you do it? What attachment is needed?
I just used spare bits of the plastic corrugated board and wedged in the mesh net
what a very nice backyard
Great video!
I love your tank setup
Great job so far. Looking forward to future videos with stabilization...
your plants have grown already!!
Tank looks fantastic!
Keep up the good work and keep up the amazing fish videos. :)
Dude u become my asian idol for aquascape.. I like your content it is very useful
That was pretty smooth design Ryo. My manzanita sticks out the whole center of my tank and I’m always concerned my rainbows are gonna jump. I plan on rescaping and probably will not have my wood sticking out next scape.
Looks great!
Cheers,
Chris
beautiful setup loved 😍😍😍
Here’s an idea Ryo! The gap where the filter pipes are, you could make a sliding net cut into the shape. That way any future fish can’t escape from there
The king of diy 😂

@Ryo Watanabe where did you get the styrofoam?
Awesome job , love the sliding door . ✌️💞🙏
excellent video. I will be making a plexiglass cover with opening
Such a nice tank 👌
Hey ryo, I was wondering do you use CO2 for your
Nice lid👍
Hi
What's the plants that grow out from the tank ? I mean the little pond outside the house.. you said mushroom plant? Do you know what's the name I can find on line to buy? Thank you! Great aquascape BTW
Hydrocotyle leucocephala!
Hydrocotyle verticilata
Such a beautiful tank! So jealous!
how do you have your tank so clear with wood? mine gets very brown and "tea-colored"
Mine also was tea colored in the beginning. I do 50% water change once a week.
Stunning tank m8 👍
What store did you buy the board from?
Looks really nice Ryo. I was going to ask why you didn't add any plants with color other than green. But as I listened I heard you mention a red variety. I thought having just a solid green scape might have been boring. But your addition of red plants breaks that green up.
I didn't see a carbon dioxide bubbler.
Yes, my carbon dioxide is connected via an inline diffuser. So instead of bubbles, my co2 comes straight out the filter outflow pipe
The tank looks amazing now, Ryo.
Easy Peasy great video
Ryo, The sliding piece of netting was a great idea.
Thank you 😊
Looking good Ryo! Will you be putting any fish in the aqua tank?
put that camera stationary so we can see your tanks without getting sea-sick!
Nice job ryo some things are simple but expensive i rather make them myself too and save money for the important things like lights co2 system etc like one time i made a cooling fan for my tank and gotta say it works great lol
Completely agree with you 👍 thank you
Can I use the glass from picture frames from dollar tree?
Beautiful video....so nice lid
How did you deal with the Algae that was infecting your tank previously ?
Water change and amano shrimp. That’s it
@@RyoWatanabee even with those hair types of Algae ?
Hey Ryo, can I suggest something? Throw away those plastic in/out and replace it with glass lily pipes please. Somehow, it's the only thing that doesn't belong in your tank. It's spoiling the quality of the scape in my perspective.
I’ve already mentioned that a few times in past videos. I will
Where did you get the material from?
What did you use to take the water out of your tank??
A pink rubber hose. I got it at my local home center a garden section
Can you show us the equipment you use to do water changes?
Hi Sir is it possible to buy flowerhorn fish and it will be shipped here in the Philippines, thank you
Foo the Flowerhorn's owner got some clear covers cut out to fit any pieces jutting out. Acrylic mayhaps?
What shop did you go to
Where can you find these things what store does these sell
The mesh screen on the back looks and works great...
I like the idea and Maybe in A few months later you come out A 2.0 DIY aquarium lid
good job💪👍
Professional 👍
Mate we get those days all the time in Australia only thing Is it’s like 30c
Please tell me where you got your lid
Great video as always. I dare you to eat some of the fish food lol 😆✌🏼
Where’d u get ur stand and tank from
?? Can I order that stand somewhere?
I put it in the description section. Not sure if you can get it outside of Japan though
What was the plastic used?
polycarbonate
Awsome ryo keep up the good work pretty sure some day when u blow up you won't be able to like this comment 😢
Is that hydrophila pinnatifida UK ( uttara kannada)
Mine is just the regular hygrophila pinnatifida
@@RyoWatanabee uttara kannada is a place name in india
You didn't say where you buy the corrugate
Sorry, forgot to mention. I got it at my local home center
6:57 DIY
if it to bright, you can wrap it with baking paper to diffuse the brightness..
I reccently added amano shrimps and the next day i found one on the floor all dried up 😭, the rest seems to be always hidding.
When I do water change I do it the old way ,using a big bowl to scoop the water and gravel out 😂
Its like a lid that I would make. Sadly that is not a compliment 😆 does the job though. Function over form
Where can i buy it
I am fron india
pretty scape!
Love the look of lid-less but how to keep fish from jumping to their doom 🤔
Josh Cranfill you can add floating plants like duckweed, frogbit, or water lettuce to make the fish feel for safe and secure and keep them from jumping. :)
It’s impossible, that’s why you’ve got to try to make the best and most comfortable environment for your fish. All aquascape stores deal with this problem. Very unfortunate when the fish jumps out
I love creative ideas and crafting your own stuff but an ADA whiteglass cover for a 60p is 13$ and looks a lot cleaner 😅.
Amano shrimp are a nightmare without a lid they tend to jump out for no particular reason, think they're just curious of what's behond there glass home.
why not keep the lid all day and increase the exposure by a couple of hours?
It’s not about the hours, it’s also about the lighting intensity
Nice Sliding Door 🤣
I got a ChrisFix vibe from this video.
He actually gets to the "cheap and easy" lid making at about 11:00 min
You should keep a Betta fish
that's nice
