If you want a glass lid for most standard tanks then google glass lid. There are 3 or 4 brands I believe. I have bought them before. PetSmart has them.
Just pointing out that that nerite might still be alive. I've had nerite and mystery snails that disappeared for two three days. When I found them and put them in the water they recovered. They can almost completely seal their shell.
I watched this video a couple days ago and that same day I had one of my cherry shrimp crawl out of a tank w/o a lid. Saw him outside right next to the tank, not moving and I barely touched him to see if he would move. He did, and I plopped him right back in with the hopes that he might survive. Two days later and he's living and thriving like nothing ever happened.
Mesh screens works pretty good as well. I used the mesh temporarily until my red bacopa grew long enough to cover all 4 edges of tank. I planted 5 bunch, one in each corner and 1 back center and they all join at the top
I once had one of my pseudomugil luminatus jump on top of the floating plants. I was surprised he would do that, but he immediately jumped right back into the water...
I've had Endlers hop out of the tank, I've never had guppies actually but it's funny how they can crossbreed but the guppies don't jump. I also like lids to help reduce evaporation.
a lot of times, plecos start out really small and nice and manageable, but after a while, in a healthy tank, (and especially in tanks as large as his) they begin to grow so large that their waste output vastly outpaces their algae-eating. but since they're so big, they tear through all of the naturally occurring algae (not to mention stealing it from any other algae eaters you may have!) and you then also have to spend a ton more in food, as plecos spend their entire waking moments grazing, and actual good, nutritional algae food gets pretty expensive. so then you have a giant fish that's rapidly outgrowing their tiny tank because you're feeding it more, producing tons of waste, and costing you a billion dollars. so you end up having to euthanize it, because plecos are invasive (in the US, Canada, and UK), so you can't release them, and that's always really sad. shitstorm all around. shrimps and snails personally serve me a lot better.
Great video and information 😁👍 Notification squad 👌 I saved a Painted Turtle yesterday on a busy highway uploaded the video today 😀 hopefully gonna have a big fish room like you by the end of summer 😀
I've had my fish jump because they got startled. In the case of male CPD's i think they were having a turf war. The hard part is to gently scoop them off the floor without hurting them further especially for nano fishes. Guppies and Bettas are notorious jumpers.
Thank you for the video 🙂. I did asked you about jumping fish 😋. My siamese jumps the female most of the time. Because is chased by the other female when I feed them 🥺. I have two maybe is to not good two of them 🤔. Thx again for the tips 🙂
I need help ASAP I have just got a male Axolotl and he’s always try to jump out although I have a lid some how he can move it I don’t know why and how but I now have to put things on top of the lid and I don’t want to do that it just way to much to take off when it’s feeding time--PLEASE HELP
I had a super red bristle nose Pleco jump week after I bought it for like $60 or more. I also have a phobia but I was hoping to get over it and Curiosity killed the cat
I had a platty jump out of the tank even though I had a lid. In fact, he was hanging out on top of the lid when I found him. I put him back in the tank and he seemed mythed but started swimming around. A few hours later he was dead. Just seems to happen no matter which precautions you take.
I keep floating plants-mostly duckweed in all of my open tanks and keep the water level a couple inches down. I prefer open tanks and immersed plants, the only reason I cover some of my tanks is to keep the humidity down in my studio apartment.
no. acrylic lids bends after a while and you could get thicker ones but it would look ugly and still bend but after a longer amount of time. I have to flip my lid once in a while and its so annoying
Lol just watched this because one of my guppy jump out. I just burst out laughing when you said” when they’re crispy”😂🤣🥴 and I’m sad at thesame time. Found him way to late and very crispy 😭
So if a shallow tank leads to jumping, how has the poor Beta in the tank with all the bamboo and almost no water not jumped yet? Even with floating plants. That is my least favorite tank you have. It's not enough for the Beta.
That’s more than enough water for beta fish. You know how they sell them at pet stores in a super small container, they don’t exactly require much room but he tank he has in this video is big enough & has enough water for them to survive comfortably.
i dont really understand the whole rimless tanks, ive never looked at a "non" rimless tank and thought the glass wasnt clear enough i need a special rimless tank and all the problems you have with them
Most rimless tanks, not all, are made of a visually clearer glass. If you ever spent any amount of time seeing how tanks are made or seen different types of aquarium glass up close you would understand. Mostly I believe rimless tanks are for the aesthetic, especially when it is meant for display. Rimmed tanks just give low budget fish room vibes to me, sorry! But if you have a fish room, stocking them with rimless tanks is not an affordable option for most. But one nice living room rimless display tank in your living room just cannot be rivaled imo
Whos got a duckweed lid?? ;)

Exactly! I really hope he didn't dispose of it before trying to put it in water.

I had one of my YoYo loaches jump out of the net while transferring tanks. Had to pick her up quickly and she bit me!
Now I call the big one Bitey.
Bitey lol
I am new to the hobby and this video has answered so many questions I had! Super helpful, thank you!

Lids are a must for me. They are the only reason I dont like rimless tanks or a lot of items coming out of the top of a tank. They look nice though.
What is your phobia of plecos? Just curious. They don't do much for me, as far as wanting them for my aquariums.
a lot of times, plecos start out really small and nice and manageable, but after a while, in a healthy tank, (and especially in tanks as large as his) they begin to grow so large that their waste output vastly outpaces their algae-eating. but since they're so big, they tear through all of the naturally occurring algae (not to mention stealing it from any other algae eaters you may have!) and you then also have to spend a ton more in food, as plecos spend their entire waking moments grazing, and actual good, nutritional algae food gets pretty expensive. so then you have a giant fish that's rapidly outgrowing their tiny tank because you're feeding it more, producing tons of waste, and costing you a billion dollars. so you end up having to euthanize it, because plecos are invasive (in the US, Canada, and UK), so you can't release them, and that's always really sad. shitstorm all around. shrimps and snails personally serve me a lot better.

Thats crazy! Good job!

Appreciate it 🙏
I needed this video, I have golden wonder killies in a 12 gallon bookshelf, lol. I'm glad it's not just me looking for organic options.
(And yeah them killies have a lid, lol)

Uhh... guppies rarely ever jump.

I'm getting red floaters for my five gallon pea puffer tank, because they're apparently jumpers.
Found your channel today and subscribed to it today

Floating plants work for me.
Very helpful video, great ideas too👍 😊
Very helpful video really appreciate it
Definitely 👍
That nerite is probably not dead. They can survive a surprisingly long time outside of the water. Put it back and see...
Can someone pls give me a link to a lid for a 5.5 gallon 16x8 rimmed aquarium pls
Your angels are gorgeous man.. :)
Agreed 👍
Can you explain the underwater waterfalls at 5:50?? 😮
no. acrylic lids bends after a while and you could get thicker ones but it would look ugly and still bend but after a longer amount of time. I have to flip my lid once in a while and its so annoying

10:39 Totally, probably, maybe save the fish? TLDR folks if your worried about escapees just put a lid on your tank
especially if it’s ✨CRISPY✨😭
It's like Chris fix for aquariums! 👍
One of my sward tail jumped out last night I found her this morning 😢
I just setup a new tank and filled it to the brim today after water change. Even now i am actually thinking of making a diy lid 😪
