This criminally an underrated vid on the win. The fact it’s at the airport (I think right?) makes it so much better. A bunch of random people all gathering around to share a moment together. Awesome stuff.
I was stranded at Chicago Midway when I shot that. We'd been watching it on the plane, missed our connecting flight and were stuck overnight there. I went wandering around looking for any of the restaurants broadcasting the game, but mostly, everything was shutting down for the evening. Happened upon this crowd and really felt like I needed to document the moment. I'm not a Cubs fan, per se, but I do like watching history happen. The emotion in that moment was palpable. And just as quickly as that celebration and all the hugs and dancing happened, the crowd dispersed and it's as if nothing happened.
Ill always remember that day. Right after the final out, i zoomed to the cemetary 6 blocks away and jumped the 8ft fence. Grandma and grandpa got hats and jerseys that night.
What you watched were human beings enjoying a moment together. People as we call ourselves are shitty individuals. Human beings are beautiful creatures
As a Cleveland Indians fan I can tell you that I get a great amount of happiness knowing that the Cubs winning made so many people happy… Even though Cleveland didn’t win… It was a special moment at history and I would not take that away from Chicago cubs fans
It would have been nice if, without showering, they all, both teams, went outside the stadium and greeted all the fans out there and shook hands. This was the definition of good sportsmanship--sorely lacking today.
As a 62-year-old female Cubs fan, I'd like to thank you for kindness and sportsmanship. I've been a diehard Cubs fan since birth (I'm told I popped out of Mom in late August, looked up at the doc, and said, "Did the Cubbies win today?"), and I'd waited a lifetime for this. I'll never forget it.
Never gets old. I remember sobbing like a baby when they won. My dad passed shortly after the 2003 season so this was years of redemption in the making.
I was unfortunately in training in the marine corps at this time and missed this moment. this brings tears to my eyes even after almost 5 years. thank you
Amazing! We became Cubs fans when we moved off the farm into the small town of Sundown, Tx and got cable in 1982. We watched the Braves and the Cubs but something about the Cubs that made us life long fans. My mom passed in 2015 and didn’t get to see them finally win it all. She knows they did though. Miss you mom
Thank you SO much for capturing this beautiful moment of a huddled mass of happy humanity, too paraphrase Harry Caray. Cheers and long life to you and yours!
Notice the guy wearing the Cubs shirt and the dude wearing the dress shirt hugging each other after the win. But before they were separated, that victory meant so much for people. I truly think NOBODY will understand that wait unless you grew up as a Cubs fan and went through all those painful 100+ years
Me and my mom were in the Airport heading to CHI for (what we hoped would be a celebration party) during game 5. We walked into an EMPTY restaurant that had a TV and asked them to please turn on the game. After half an inning the restaurant was PACKED with Cubs fans and we all almost missed our flights.
I’m not a baseball fan here in Australia however I absolutely LOVE MY SPORT and I love how sport can bring out so many emotions sadness joy anxiety and pure happiness just to name a few and bring everyone together from all walks of life and all backgrounds sport is such a wonderful thing it brings out so many pure emotions that other forms of entertainment TRY……BUT NEVER CAN EMULATE the pure joy and happiness sport brings out in people
Man, I remember in the 2014 World Cup, was at the airport during the quarterfinals between Brasil and Colombia when David Luiz scored on a foul kick, place went crazy. If only we knew the disaster that would come...
Im happy for the cub fans who stuck with that franchise through all the bad times and never gave up hope. Not happy for all you bandwagon jackoffs that abandoned the cubs after they traded everyone away. that being said GO WHITE SOX
This was in the secure part of the airport, past TSA. The only people there were passengers who had already gone through security, flight staff and airport employees. If any terrorists sneaked by, it'd be because they got through security, which would have had nothing to do with people watching the end of the World Series at midnight on their way to their connecting gates.
Too bad that the Chicago Cubs won the World Series, you guys thought we would lose game 5 and lose the World Series, you guys lost after a 3-1 lead to 4-3 loss
This criminally an underrated vid on the win. The fact it’s at the airport (I think right?) makes it so much better. A bunch of random people all gathering around to share a moment together. Awesome stuff.
Yes. Especially now.

Agreed. I’m not even a Cubs fan, but even I was happy and rooting for them.
maybe because the video was taken on a potato phone
Midway Airport

That's awesome!
That's beautiful, man.
This is why sports are so great. Everyone, strangers, united happily.
This moment rocks. Grown strangers hugging each other. Best day of my life
This is so pure, why cant the world be like this all the time?
Because then it wouldn't be special. Cherish moments like this.
it really does feel like everything went downhill literally days after this great win
What you watched were human beings enjoying a moment together. People as we call ourselves are shitty individuals. Human beings are beautiful creatures
The Cubs broke their curse but they cursed the world by doing so lmao

My condolences about your father. May he rest well
I was unfortunately in training in the marine corps at this time and missed this moment. this brings tears to my eyes even after almost 5 years. thank you
God bless you and thank you for your service
thank you for your service
Thank you for your service!!
Someone missed a flight watching that moment and doesn’t regret it at all. And that’s why we watch
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA the guy in the tan shirt's scream at the end was pure happiness and excitement at the same time "yearaghhh"
The fact that people in an airport are cheering & celebrating show just how truly special the moment was.
Amazing! We became Cubs fans when we moved off the farm into the small town of Sundown, Tx and got cable in 1982. lmao I love the guy who gets up from sitting in his wheelchair to kneel on the ground!
Kayleigh Butler and then randomly high fives or hugs everyone near him. it's great.
Not a wheelchair. Just a chair.
Sports can bring a whole city together
Thank you SO much for capturing this beautiful moment of a huddled mass of happy humanity, too paraphrase Harry Caray. Cheers and long life to you and yours!
It really was a cool moment. Glad I was there and had my phone with me.

Gotta love when a video of a bunch of people at midway watching the cubs win the World Series 5 years ago pops up on the recommended
the man at 0:18 was getting ready to tackle the tv if the Byrant overthrew Rizzo.
That’s a lifetime of pain being let out all at once. What a feeling.
i love how this brought people together

Even the pilot had to stop and watch lol. I like to imagine him walking away was probably like “we really did it”
Awesome having airport have tvs around the halls for fans

If you ever get to experience baseball, you’ll really enjoy it.
A lot of Cubs fans missed their flight but the Pilots said, will wait, this is history!!!!
That night, everybody was a Cubs fan.
Just like last year's World Series, everyone was pulling for Atlanta to win, everyone was pulling for The Cubs to win it
I don’t care how many titles your team has, not one of their championship wins has been seen as a massively historical event like this.
really awesome video thank you for sharing go cubs go world series champions baby. way 2 go.
I love all the guys from Great Lakes walking in towards the end wondering what the hell just happened. :)
Go Cubs Go! The late and great Steve Goodman!
Man, I remember in the 2014 World Cup, was at the airport during the quarterfinals between Brasil and Colombia when David Luiz scored on a foul kick, place went crazy.
If only we knew the disaster that would come...
Great moment but also hilarious that it is of course people stranded at a Chicago airport
That's my town!
Great city of the "CHI" has won in basketball, football, hockey and baseball. Not to many states/ cities can say that. Chicago, Illinois #1 .
I love baseball ⚾🥰😁
Sports and music. We are all one!!!!
0:36 Indians fan exiting frame lmao
Sports are bigger than sports
Im happy for the cub fans who stuck with that franchise through all the bad times and never gave up hope. Not happy for all you bandwagon jackoffs that abandoned the cubs after they traded everyone away. that being said GO WHITE SOX
So awesome 😁⚾
Talk about bitter sweet
Gotta love midway😂
And then everybody missed their flight. ✈
Instead of the Chicago Cubs collapse the 2016 San Francisco Giants got their own collapse.
I don't like people who actively hate on sports/Don't like sports in general!
That’s super cool.
That's lovely ❤️
Is this midway airport?
It is. I missed my connecting flight from D.C. that evening, so was stuck there.
What airport was this?
Chicago Midway.
Never fails
Nice!
Why does this video look like it’s from the 90s?
I've waited almost seven years for someone to ask that. Thanks for noticing.
north side
Sports rock
Play this on a continuous loop--and BANISH CNN International!!!
Funny 🥐🍠🧅
Imagine if some terrorists sneaked by while all the guards were watching this WS. Get back to work.
This was in the secure part of the airport, past TSA. The only people there were passengers who had already gone through security, flight staff and airport employees. It’s been 3 years but you’re probably still stupid as shit
@@jordanw5833 LOL
@@jordanw5833 facts lmfao
Imagine saying something as stupid as that. Oh wait, you don't have to imagine. There it is.
Go Indians
LittleBoi4Trump nah. You blew a 3-1 lead and a 2-0 lead
Too bad that the Chicago Cubs won the World Series, you guys thought we would lose game 5 and lose the World Series, you guys lost after a 3-1 lead to 4-3 loss
