    I loved the video man. To all the people complaining shut up. This is a stove thats great for camping, and emergency cooking/boiling water. I understand not everyone has welding skills and advance tools to accomplish this build. Go stash some bricks and good luck to you and I'll be carrying my stove anywhere I want to cook.

    Thanks for the video. I was still able to get a friend ( who is welder ) to make it in about an hour and all it cost me was 12 pack. He even had the tubing lying around in the backyard. He said its scrap and the 12 pack was enough.

    You don't have to weld it. Get a bag of quick concrete mix it up with a bit of small pee gravel and not to much water. Lay about 2 inches thick pile on a flat area in the shape of the stove. Lay your stove (metal parts that were welded at the 45 cut) on the concrete then build up the concrete around it. Use scrap cardboard or wood (anything) to keep the concrete in place. Then just let the concrete cure. Not only will it hold the metal together it will help keep more heat in the stove. If you don't want to use concrete then use clay mud. It will work as well. it will just be more prone to braking if hit or knocked over. (Heat the clay mud to make it hard like clay planting pots)As for cutting the 45 needed you can get it cut at many hardware stores for near nothing. As for the legs if you want it off the ground set it on some blocks, rocks, or whatever you may have that the heat will not bother... As for air under your pot or pan. Just cut out 2 inch wide by 1 inch deep slots at the top then bend the metal flaps you just made out.

    I started to raise a few chickens here so I had to do some research to figure out how to do it right, and as I was searching I ran across the Preppers and the Homesteaders, all seem to be raising chickens.. I learned about the rocket stove along with making my own laundry detergent, and how to build my own inexpensive green house from TexasPrepper here. I want to build a rocket stove heater, not the mass bench style, but a wood type stove.. My uncle is a welder, and from watching video after video on them, I've come up with my own ideas on how I'd like to make my own.. Being a plumber, carpenter and a electrician, along with understanding heating systems I pretty much can figure these things out on my own.... Because of my research I've subscribed to a lot of preppers and homesteaders, RUclips channels. One is connected to the LDS that must of didn't like my RUclips channel much and then unsubscribed me from them. I resubscribed back again not saying a word because sometimes it can be a glitch in the system.. We all have a certain way we believe in life,, I'm just not ashamed of mine..
    Back to the Rocket stoves,, they are very impressive

    TexasPrepper2, Nice Job on the stove. I want to apologize for my fellow man's and women's negative comments. So what if it don't meet the Whovever's Standards on Rocket Stove Design...the thing cooks eggs and boils water so therefore it performed as a stove. It cost you about $10.00 to build because you had the skill and the equipment to do it. Remind me that the next time I need to go to the store for a $4.00 gallon of milk to figure in the cost of a $35,000 vehicle, fuel, Insurance, road tax, and various other cost. My $0.02. Great job TexasPrepper2 you answered the comments very well also.

      I just fixed breakfast. The cost was 250,637. That's 50 cents for the sausage, 50 cents for the eggs, 32 dollars for the pan, 600 for the stove, and 250K for the house. At this rate, I can no longer afford to eat.

  • @lauriestlyon8773
    @lauriestlyon8773 10 лет назад

    This a simple neat design and I think a good one to start with. With a 2 foot long piece of square tubing you can have a 10inch chimney, 8 inch burn tube and a 6 inch vertical feed. A good "J" tube stove as they feed better. Intend to build one myself as soon as the weather changes here.
    Yes you can insulate it or even use this as the "Burn Tube" section of a barrel heater. But this, for my money, is nice, cheap durable design. Good Job Texas!

    Thanks, it's simple. Nice to have one on legs, I plan on a platform in the back with a gazebo this summer, a little stove like that to ward off bugs (live in Northern Canada) would be good. Looking at the comments seems like none of them are old enough to have grown up with three legged furniture to stop wobbles because floors weren't always level in houses.

  • @keitho3133

    Great video. To all the people complaining about tools: The only tools you would have to have to build this is a welder (can get them for $100 or less even especially used) and a hacksaw (I recommend one around $20-25 as the cheap ones don't hold the blade very taught) or an angle grinder and a pack of cutoff discs which can be had (low quality) for about the same as a good quality hacksaw. So even if you had nothing and no friends with anything this could be built for around $130 and you would have the tools leftover for other projects or you could sell them.

    Awesome design I am going to build a few of these for my shop. But the perpendicular firebox isn't that important once you got it going. A lot of people add a 45 degree secondary firebox and put lids on them so once you get it going with the flat box you can close it and open the 45 box and it acts as a wood hopper for the stove. It works really well from what ive seen.

    Skeeter Stove! I have a suggestion on the air plate. You could either bend the lower front corners to keep it from sliding inside so easily, or use tin snips and cut 1/8" to 1/4" at the top of each side of that plate and then bend each side 45 degrees or more so it can't go in to far. Great video, hoping to get a welder and do stuff like this very soon. BTW, subbed and liked, so I'm not hatin one bit.

    cool little rocket stove, I don`t have a welder so I made mine out of aluminium 6" wide floor studs n screws ,used 1 disk off the grinder, n used a bit of muffler cement to block the small cracks the secret is to make it air tight .I built it at work n found my parts from the scrap pile .I cut the top like a tower off a castle a n had no problem with it . I made a few of them n my fav. is the J rocket stove just make ur fire n put long sticks in the button J n forget, it less maintenance that way I find .it takes less then 1 hour to built n about 5$, old wood skids works great for burning

    Why not put some kind of screen over your chimney to cut down on the ash from coming out? Also, I would use four pieces, not three to support the pot or pan.

    • @SmokymntnEd
      @SmokymntnEd 10 лет назад +1

      I've built 3 from Freon Tanks and been cooking on them for years. Fly Ash is a problem with all Rocket stoves. Putting a screen on them cuts down the draft and makes for burning problems. The only way I've found to cut down on the Fly Ash is to use very dry hard woods.

    although longer legs would be a good idea
    a sheet of metal to sit it on, instead of the wobbly plastic table
    and if you shine the sides of the rocket instead of painting it... You could weld little "pocket grills" for either do toast or even baked potatoes in foil and inside little cans

    Try using tubing on the legs and pot supports the proper size and then slide your legs and supports in so the stove will be more transportable. You can size the rebar to be removable from the tubing so you can take them off.

    Nice work but I question your choice in materials. Metal feels cold to you when you touch it because it conducts the heat away from you. It does the same to your fire. In order to have a clean burn you net high temperatures. You can't get that very well with metal. Maybe lining the burn chamber with some kind of rigid insulator would help.

  • @johnarizona3820
    @johnarizona3820 10 лет назад

    Hey, real good job brother! On the chimney length I think the longer the more draw like a siphon-the lower you go the faster the water comes out. If level was an issue you could stick a magnetic torpedo level on that frying pan and bend the legs accordingly. You could use a piece of wire cloth at the top for a spark arrester too. :) God Bless!

    Just a thought on the fabrication... Cut a 4" tall hole out of the side of the chimney, use it to put fill in the bottom, and just weld the firebox section straight to the side of the chimney. No having to mess with a 45deg cut! ...and it'll be a 90deg joint guaranteed! Assuming your tube was cut straight to begin with.
