Nice to know you are offering plans for free, but I dont know why i need to provide my address and other details. Email ID should be enough to send or download the pdf file. Will you please look into this. Thanks
It’s so I can look in your windows. But for real, the service I use doesn’t seem the have a way to turn off the address for digital products. I’ll try to research more as to not inconvenience people downloading this free product I spent time on.... also kidding. Kinda.
Justin Voss thank you for working on plans! I appreciate the time you have put into this and have purchased the materials to start!
Thanks for providing plans and all dimensions. It really helps!
Justin Voss thanks for the plans!
Hi, that is not a rocket stove! It is a masterful work of art! The welding is worthy of a race car chassis, brilliant wok, kind regards from 🇬🇧 Tim
Thank you Tim!
I have made an earthen one that doubles as a charcoal kiln. It could possibly be a metal foundry too.
What do you consider to be a rocket stove? Could there not be a multitude of variations?

I DO NOT understand how your channel doesn't have a million subscribers. Informative and sky high production value as always. Love the videos keep kicking ass
I need to make videos more frequently. Appreciate the kind words! I’ll keep it up.
Is there an email address I could possibly use for questions?
Good video and a great channel!!!
👨🏭👍🏻😎
Definitely Agree!
It's headed there!
Just a cooking tip from an elderly boy scout: If you're cooking on an open flame the pot/pan bottom gets sooty and hard to clean. Solution: Soap it up well with a wet bar of soap. Let the soap layer get sooty; it washes off easily.
Justin, I find this video inspirational! I recently purchased a tig welder, I'm retired, that makes this also an opportunity not only to build a cool and efficient rocket stove but a terrific tig welding project as well.
Great stove. The free plans is awesome. Thank you and thank you for adding the metric system. I makes my life easier in South Africa
That turned out bad ass. Love watching welding videos with a solid project. You hit it outof the park. Keep up the awesome work
You should have added skies and a handle
Love this design, added touches of the wood inlet and grating as well as the pan trivet. Nice job!
Justin, thank you for sharing this build. You've made it a very sweet design and a great build! I know I'll be making one like yours for my own use. I'm wondering about making a grate from small diameter steel rod, with the pieces laid criss-cross and welded where they cross. Have to look at that - I've got a pile of bar stock (3/16 in. & a bit of 1/4 in. round) in my offcuts.
Something I saw in 2015-16, on a larger, clunky rocket stove cobbled up from plate sections (uggh!) was having a small (1 to 1-1/2 quart?) water-heating tank on the side opposite to the wood feeder. Square tubing would make it simple. Arrange the filler to one side at the top, & hot water drawn off a few inches above the overall bottom plate - high enough to get a cup or small pan/pot underneath. It wouldn't have a filler that sealed tight, so it couldn't become a "boiler bomb." For a drain, ideally it wouldn't stick out, to avoid snagging something and tipping the stove, or just being snapped off by accident. It would hold enough hot water to make 2-3 cups of coffee, or to mix up another part of a meal in a small pot while a pan was cooking on top. Must give that some more thought. Anyhow, you've made this a work of art as well as a great rocket stove. Thanks!
That's a beauty! I like the rear air intake, and the trivet to hold the pan is very nice. You should build a "chimney oven" for it. It would be very cool to do some outdoor baking with that thing. I saw one a while back, it was like a 14x14" box inside of an old gas cylinder. The escaping smoke goes around the inner box (that your food goes into), before exiting. These rocket stoves are amazingly efficient. Once it's running hot, almost zero smoke. Very cool project!
Great😍
Do you mean smoking chamber?
I really love how the wood inlet and the air inlet match up to make it look like the piece of square tube passes through the other
Thanks that was the idea glad you noticed!
@@JustVoss really elegant take on the design. Nicely done.
Yeah pretty slick im going off grid bush this year kids an wife staying in the city i need these type vids
@@JustVoss yes, killer sir
Great piece of work. Thanks. I am going to make one in the similar way u have done it.
mixing your audio 50% higher than your talking doesn't make using a band saw more intense, it just makes me change vids, yw for the engagement
Nice work! For the grate on one I built, instead of expanded metal, I drilled a series of holes and ran large nails through, welded them in, and ground off the ends. Worked pretty slick.
Outstanding job Justin. I must now build one myself. Thanks for the great tutorial.
Cracking build Justin, you have taken many of the best individual features of rocket stoves and made a great version for yourself. nice arc shots too buddy :)
Hi Justin, Just watch your video and really like your fabrication. Just got the plans. Thank you very much for taking the time to prepare and share. Greatly appreciated
Thanks for the video! I used your video for guidance and built one today in welding school! Can’t wait to try it out
Frome one metalworker to the another: You are a master craftsman. Enjoyed watching you work.
has much to learn
Dude, this is great. Made one with my daughter and we love it
I welded aluminum stainless and mild steel for 40 years. Tig is the best way to go on projects like this. I think it is cleaner with better penetration. Great job on that stove. I taught a lot of people few have your kind of skill it is a work of art.
Simple, clean, nice looking and a great build with quality workmanship! Thanks for posting! …… You mentioned during the build about a great opportunity for one of those weld magnets. I do everything by my self and have a few and they are great but I also have a few magnet I took out of old microwaves that are strong and very useful. Thank You again!
Great skills and good design about increasing the space for more wood to burn, my little suggestion for review is if on the air inlet you add a rectangular drawer to extract the ashes away from the combustion chamber.
Yeah, as is, you have a very limited burn time before you gotta turn this thing back on it's rear side to empty it.
Honestly, if the bottom had a diamond grate hole, you could just dig a little 4x4x12" hole and set the stove over it and let the ashes fall into the pit. Easy to extinguish with a bottle of water and plop the original sod back on after.
Or use a stick to sweep it out of the huge opening at the bottom, lol
@@nickkerr5714 rather a ladle than sit there fucking around trying to push ash with a stick.
Rather more, a convenient design.
I built one today at work as well! Looking forward to seeing how well it works! Thanks for the great idea! 😊👍
Awesome if you’re on Instagram tag me I’d like to see it! @justvoss
I've got some leftover 6 x 6 and a buzz box. I like your design. Looks like sufficient inspiration to get something started!
Stunning, thanks for sharing the plans.
Im making one in stainless steel! Thanks for the drawings, awesome build. Clean and simple
Nice man! Tag me in a pic if you post it somewhere!
This is sick. Definitely gonna be my lunchtime project at work next week.
Nice job! Great fabrication and design!👍👍👍
I've already downloaded the project plan. Thank you so much.
Your work is flawless, man. Great attention to detail, and great engineering, too. Much respect. Also, mighty clean shop.
Hey appreciate it Bill!
I loved the fitting and welding. I would love a Tig in my shop. It looked so easy to do but I am sure it is all about the skill of the operator.
I think its a welding level B or A to start into TIG welding. I dont recall at which level in my courses i started in TIG, although the beginners course started at level C with stick and Mig and oxy acetylene. The old timers always said to me to do TIG its not about being a hero, to learn TIG well its about getting your body comfortable.
fuck TIG, you could weld that with MIG or stick faster
I would use mig much faster .not trying to win a show and too much time with a tig.
Excelente trabajo!, Gracias por compartir los planos!
Thanks for sharing your plans
Dude! Love the quality of your videos and how you shoot/edit/educate in them! Keep truckin man! Happy New Year as well!
Appreciate it, Happy New Year!
It's really satisfying when the weld starts to shine
I built my version today! Thanks for the plans!
Honestly, ive seen a lot of type of rocket stove. But you have the best man! Genius design ! Thanks for sharing.
I love how everyone has their own unique style of TIG welds, kind of like a fingerprint
@@susan8505 okay? why?
Damn guy, nice welds, love how the piece looks like a variation of a Viking Rune.
wish i knew about this back when i was in school for welding, every idea i had was either too expensive or not school friendly (i thought a trap for my pellet gun was a cool idea but apperently not) this would have been a nice and easy project to do and actually have a practical use!
it was a joy from beginning to end to watch this video! Thank you!
Very impressive. Great project, great video. Makes me want to learn welding.
Dropping dime's I like the up close welding
I’v been working on getting better weld shots
Outstanding fabrication! Thank you!
Great job Justin! Your attention to detail shines through! I have a similar stove, but it doesn't have the opening at the back. I like your design as it allows great airflow, and certainly makes clearing the burnt wood and ashes easier. A big thank you and best regards from South Africa!
Thank you, yes cleaning it is definitely easy with the opening in the back.
@@JustVoss does it really matters where to place the air inlet?
So glad so many are interested in building one similar! Here are my basic dimensions:
4” x 4” square tubing.
Main shaft: 16” without the plate holder.
Fuel/Wood shaft: 12” on the longest side. Attached at 45 degrees.
What thickness of metal
I want one of these
My friend made a cooker that attached to his car header
Witch is great it's what I call fast food.
for those place like ocean city MD were you are not even allow to have a gas bbq or grill.
World's best rocket stove huh? Thanks for making me laugh this morning. Oh well at least you didn't add glitch hop throughout the whole video.
grate you put care into the build Justin like it if for no other reason that sucker will be around a long time
I made one for myself i put the airinlet just below the woodfeeding pipe used a smaller 60x100 mm square pipe its great for cooking fast burning up to temp in few minutes
Excellent piece of workmanship, beautifulest part is, you can feel when your art is pleasing. I can't wait to build one. Thx
Excellent design. I love how the the the wood is loaded in like a hopper seperate from the burn chamber. Super efficient. As soon as i rember where i put my old stick welder it's happening.
AWESOME!!!! Really liked your attention to detail and your tig welding skills. Everything you did in this video seemed to flow flawlessly.
This video is going nuts, Justin. 209k in 5 days!? Awesome.
I can’t believe there’s 899 haters as of this writing. Very nice rocket stove. I’ve made 18 of them in various sizes for friends and family that want them. This is a unique one indeed. 👍
Love the design!! I'll give it a try
This is the simpliest yet good rocket stove I have seen on RUclips.
Thank you I like it a lot
Justin Voss I like it, but is it practical for camping?
Seems awfully heavy...
@@timothyevans4323 You can use a thinner plaque, but it will not last as much as this plaque of this thick.
Pretendo fazer um para mim e o seu projeto e o melhor que vi. O vídeo e ótimo e muito detalhado, parabéns.
Concordo contigo, esse é bem simples e prático, gostei muito também
Great build!!! thank you for sharing!
Does anyone else look away from the torch arc when he's welding? 😄😄
Gonna be building one of these for my ice shack. My buddy has one in his that is very old and still cooks them trout good!!
Nice!!
Very nicely done 👍
Most folks don't know the sound of a well built rocket stove. Yours seems on point from the audio. Viewing this has inspired me to re-visit the cranial file cabinet and tubing rack. A resurgence of sorts. Many thanks for creating this video, Justin. Well done sir!
Thanks Bob!
And the sound of the bacon didn't hurt, either. I believe Bob says that proper bacon frying technique should sound like a mig welder. Something like that.
Haha Pat
Where in the World is Bob Moffat? I/ we miss ya man! Jason is Awesome But there is no one like the great Bob Moffat. You cant Golf all day, can ya?
@@bradymcphail9690 I haven't played golf since the first of June 2019. I've been here in Kansas.

Best made rocket stove I have seen so far....👍🏽
Best of the basics I've seen yet after ten years of RUclips viewing: This is the only one of its kind.
We're quite lucky then

Awesome, have to build mine ASAP
So beautifully done .
Great job, thanks for the plans. The world could use more people like you.
Appreciate that
man, these videos are really well put together. thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
I felt a lot better (less confused) when I found out your day job involved video production. Nice work on both fronts.
Thanks so much Jason I just tried the one I made out based on your plans. I do think yours is the best design so far.
Glad you like it!
Absolutely Brilliant!
This is the first time I've come across your videos & dude...
WOW!!!

Brilliant work!
Really like it! I'm a noob welder DIY. Gonna have a go at this!
I love this, suggested it to my mom who lives off the power grid !
Definitely, she may want an insulated one.
I _just_ finished mine. Then what pops up in my feed? This video! Kinda wish I’d seen your build first. I went with the 2/3 vent/feed tube. I’ll likely add a vent under the combustion chamber like you did now.
How well dose your stove work with a 2/3 air/fule feed?
Because your phone listens to your conversations
Last weekend I talked about building one with a friend, and now I see this.
Awesome! Inspired to make my own now. Thanknyou.
I enjoyed your video and really appreciate you taking the time to make the plans. This will be my project for next weekend! Want to bring this in my travel trailer to cook in a fun way. Hope all is well with you!
Nice job, earned a sub. Recommendation from a professional RUclips Video consumer? Not a fan of the music, but if you're attached to it, turn the volume down on it a bit. It can be VERY overpowering.
That thing is more well built than any rocket ever.
Real shit. Flat earth
Great job and video, thank you.
Like it! Built one, but then drilled 1/8 hole at the top and enveloped the vertical part. This way you get super heated air that re-burns the smoke. More heat, more efficient and virutally no smoke, once heats up.
Great video an always humorous because fab’in something doesn’t always come together as planned out an sometime you need to take a Vear it just keeps the focus anjoy in it. Thanks
Rarely ever goes as planned for me
I stacked a bunch of bricks I collected and made one just by stacking, and will use it if (when) the power goes out. I was surp.rised at home efficient and hot it got! Now, it has to be babysat for feeding in fuel, but yours is the real deal, self feeding. Now I'm thinking, what about a brick tower and base, but make a slanted steel chute...? Hmmm. 😏
Make your chute out of terracotta
Thank you ,great job
Awesome stove!!! Rockin'!!!
🥓 🥓 You had me at Bacon. 🥓 🥓
🥓🔥🥓
Everything is better with bacon 🥓
The holes could have been places to drive spikes through into the ground to prevent it from potentially tipping
Good point! Just wondering, in terms of tipping, making it symmetric - with two preheat/feeding inlets (and potentially, if necessary, incorporating some flaps to regulate the draft?
This the Cadillac of rocket stoves, and don't forget it's Tig welded and has power vent motors I'm surprised it's not chrome.
was thinking the same thing
316 Stainless that is polished
@@MrJFoster1984 I thought it was 308....They look similar
Easy! built one while watching tv!
Very good!! Thanks!! From Brazil!!
I want to build this now. Thanks!
Whao, nice job dude and that pan riser is what seals the deal for me!
Thanks man
I think two holes, either on opposing sides or opposing corners, would be useful. You could then use tent pegs to hold it in place, so it's harder to accidentally knock over
I was just looking around for rocket stoves, glad I stumbled into here! You lay beads like a boss!
I love it! You did a fantastic job!
I would consider a choke for the air inlet that you can open/close.
it wouldn't require much additional work. Just a cut above the air inlet to fit a plate that can push/pull and drill the sides for bolts that the choke plate can rest its weight on.
@@PrivatePrivate-do2on I do.
And I can add a handle or customize sizing and add names or whatever you like..I can even mirror polish this.if you dont want it spray painted black..it looks better
@@whatsgrowingon What is your price per unit.
@@nicosadie4527 depends on what you want.one just like the one in this video i can do for 100 bucks.if you want it with customized names or symbols or mirror polished name or symbols welded on , then i can do 140
