Glad you were finally able to see one of these. I cooked on a brand new Kalamazoo hybrid, several times, a couple of summers ago at a relative’s lake house. It is in a category by itself, given how robust the metal is, the quality and heft of components, as well as the build quality. Having said that, it’s not like the grill is easier to cook on, or cooks better than, other luxury gas grills that are a bit more accessible. Also, the ability to cook with wood or charcoal is nice for grilling simple things, but this will not replace a charcoal grill. The reason is that you have limited air flow control (since it is a gas design with gas safeguards), which means limited temperature control when cooking with wood or charcoal. Also, when you open the tray when cooking, it can spill hot ash all down the front of the grill…..Still, this is an awesome grill for the money-is-no-object crowd.
Surprised they don’t have a drop in divider to separate the compartment for when you are smoking like an offset. Nice feature with the air flow control on top.
Definitely no denying the quality of Kalamazoo. A money is no object purchase for sure. For me personally to save money and get more functionality overall and since I have the space I went with a 42" Hestan and then a 60" x 30" Lone Star Grillz Santa Maria Grill to handle all the wood and charcoal grilling I could ever want.
The lone star grillz requires more maintenance since it’s not stainless steel. Apples to oranges since the lsg could rust. Once you add stainless - it’s a huge additional cost.

Would have been nice to have some info on the side burner. A great grill no doubt but will Kalamazoo be around in 5 years? If not, the warranty means nothing.
There will always be super rich people who have a lot of $ to spend to get the best - like rolls Royce or Bentley. Hestan, Lynx, alfresco, dcs etc have to compete with one another at the next price tier.
I have three grills that individual do a better job than this one grill for less than 20% of the cost. Additionally, for parties I'm cooking multiple things with totally different flavors and meats at the same time.

Although you review the appearance and cosmetics of the grill which is made of high quality, there is very few reviews on different cooking methods on this grill as it is so expensive in the event it damages their reputation. Almost all Kalamazoo reviews are paid reviews which does not give it creditablity! This is why I would like Real cooking reviews from all the different cooking methods by ppl who will give real pros and cons For this high price they should stand by their quality and allow more independent reviews with real criticism instead of you having to visit their showroom. If their quality is so good they should have nothing to hide!

Twenty-plus grand is one thing, but in the $2-7 grand range you are paying for the metal, the components, the fabrication and construction, and the features - not the brand. I use my grill once or twice a week, yea round, amd I am not remotely interested in replacing a cheap $500 gas grill, with weak and uneven heat, every two years.
@scooter5940 If it is all welded good quality stainless, there is no rust, and you don't have to be anal about covering it. So. It is easy to use every other day to get meals done. People should try and build their own cooker to see the cost of materials and labor. They have been spoiled by the Chinese system, which is flat packs on container ships, and you assemble with fasteners. Light weight to keep shipping costs low.

Those grates are so wide you might as well not even be cooking over live fire. Half the meat is just getting cooked by hot stainless steal

2K is nothing for some people. They spend on luxury goods. There are some people who make 2K per hour while sleeping.
