Undoubtedly the best resource for Napoleon information on RUclips. I’ll be picking up a the Rogue XT 425 SIB from my local dealer in the next couple weeks.
To further add to the confusion, in Australia (where napoleon is a relatively new player) the range is different again! We get rogue, rogue xt, rogue se and rogue rse. Plus something called the LEX range, which has features from the pro (e.g. chopping board and drinks cooler) but a regular side burner (not infrared, although it's sold separately) and optional rotisserie! We don't get the prestige or freestyle lines. Then there's a differet range of built in BBQs 🤯
Thanks a bunch for your reviews! Got myself the Prestige 500 RSIB Ambience, which was $50 CAD more than the regular Prestige 500 RSIB but comes with stainless side burner grate and stainless warming rack. I think this grill will be with me for a long time!
I’m in Canada and bought my first Napoleon today, a Freestyle… and btw, they have one with a side burner too. I needed a more compact one than the Rogue and the Freestyle is perfect for me
Honestly this helps so much - trying to sort out each model was getting confusing. Thanks! Does Napoleon offer discounts at various times in the year or is that really more left up to the individual stores?
This is a great and really helpful video. My old gas grill is dying and I have been researching lots of new ones. I have mainly been looking at the different Rogue 425 variants until I saw the Freestyle 365. There is a huge price difference and the 365 looked like enough of a grill for me, but I was hesitant since it was hard to know what I would miss out on. Based on this comparison, I will probably get a Freestyle 365 with side burner (yes, I’m in Europe) which is on sale right now. Thanks for this and other great videos.
I’m in Canada and bought my Prestige 500 because of your reviews! Great grill, one of the most underrated features by far is the side burner. In summer I can throw on some smokies on the side burner without having to preheat the entire grill, but at same time I have used it to get a serious sear on a 60oz wagyu tomahawk or throw a cast iron pan on there to do smash burgers. Also those cast stainless grates on the Phantom are $$$. I was looking to upgrade my “regular old Prestige” ones and on Napoleons website they are $790 (Canadian) for those grates alone, so the price increase to the Phantom is definitely justified.
If you want to upgrade your grates, buy the ones of the Pro series. They are way cheaper and except of the great look of the Phantom cast stainless steal grates, they perform exactly the same as both are 9mm and the same regarding in heat capacity and retention as the material in both cases is stainless steel. Cast or not cast does not make even a slight difference in performance.
Thanks from Sweden for great tests and reviews! They are very informative. I am currently on the hunt for a new grill. I have been sure that it is a Napoleon that i want and with your videos my choice is clear. It will be a Napoleon, just one issue, the one i want, a Napoleon Prestige 500 with rotisserie kit will set me back 3400 $ here in Sweden. So i must keep looking for something thats about 1500-2000$ here. And then im looking at Rogue XT or SE series. Or you just check the price to have a grill shipped to Sweden! ; ) You have mentioned the weight of the burners in several videos and dont know if it makes a difference, well it does. As there is more material in the Napoleon burners they wont be affected by the "growth & shrink" that happens everytime the burner gets hot and cools down. This means therer is less wear & tear in the Napoleon burners and thus they wil last longer.
I just got Rouge 425 couple of days ago. Just waiting for the weekend to fire it up. I wanted the Freestyle but the longer warranty and stainless steel aromatizer on the Rouge convinced me to get the it.
Great breakdown of the available models - very helpful! As for talking price... I would really like it if you would at least, say "at the time of this video", MSRP is around bla, bla, bla. That way, I at least know if I'm looking at a $2000. grill, or a $5000. I don't think anyone will bust your chops if the manufacturer changes the pricing. Anyway, love your vids as I plan out the build for my outdoor kitchen.
I think I watched almost all of your reviews. Very professional and also entertaining. But, as more as I watch I start to questioning the entire gas grill compartment. It seems to me, according to all the reviews there are two big takeaways. 1. Who grill vegetables anyway? 2. The only way to get a really good steak is to push the infrared grill to the max, 2 x 2 quick burns and then aluminium foil and rest. When exactly are we supposed to use the gasgrill, apart of the times we want to ruin our steaks? 😅
In the UK the Napoleon Freestyle 365 comes with the infrared side burner. Minus build quality How does this now compare to the rogue xt in terms of performance. Thanks great review

I am thinking of buying the prestige 665 black because I prefer the color. But I read black enamel can chip more and expose the cast iron and rust. Can this be true? Would it be more durable to get the stainless steel model?
I'm planning to buy the Prestige 500RSIB this spring after watching you reviews of the complete line. I'm in Canada too and we have what's called the Ambiance Edition. It's the Prestige 500 but for $50.00 more Canadian you get both the stainless steel grille on the side burner and the stainless steel warming rack of the pro series, available only in the charcoal enameled finish.
Excellent reviews. I'm looking for a new grill and am shifting between the Weber EX325 and the Napoleon Prestige. I saw the review between the 2 and I'm still not sure. I think I'd be good with either one. Analysis paralysis! If I was in CO I'd be at your store in a minute. Thanks for the information.
Thanx for a great review. Have a question though. In Sweden price difference between Rogue 525 SE and Prestige is about $500. Which one to choose between them then, feel like the Prestige is a bit much but maybe worth it anyway?
The rotisserie motors are the same minus the exterior stainless cosmetic "wrap" same current draw and same output... same size also if I'm remembering correctly which is why they're interchangeable on either model . The rods I think are slightly fatter on the pro... but it's slight... definitely not a justification for the price.
Hi, thanks for the great breakdown. Is the infrared side burner on the Rogue XT 525 as powerful for searing steaks as the Prestige model, but just smaller in size?
Great commentary, but a shame that the pricing brackets we see in the US/Canada aren't as generous worldwide as it makes certain models harder to justify - in the UK, pricing is such that some models cost half as much again as the model below them for adding one burner as we see with the 425/525. The Prestige 500 that you champion is about twice the cost of your base Rogue 425 in the US - in the UK, a Prestige 500 is closer to three and a half times the price of a 425 and is the equivalent of an average monthly salary. I genuinely can't understand how they can keep it that cheap in North America. I actually ended up purchasing the grill you discounted immediately, the Rogue 425 - by the time Napoleon had thrown in a free cover and accessories on it, when you priced it against a Freestyle with no offers and took into account the extra build quality there was no contest.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It’s definitely frustrating to see how prices can vary so much between different countries. The higher costs in the UK compared to North America are likely due to things like import duties, taxes, and other regional factors that impact pricing. I’m really glad to hear you found a good deal with the Rogue 425!! If you have any other questions or need more recommendations, just let me know.

My suggestion would be to unbox everything and lay out each piece, have a screwdriver and small socket wrench available as well. I will say that once you get going, the directions are easy to follow. I did have to consult the pictures/glossary in the back for a few pieces. Fast forward. The grill works perfectly as described and did not produce a propane-like taste to the food. I hear that you can have these issues with a gas grill. Overall, I am very happy with the grill despite the process.
Just curious what is the difference between the Napoleon Legend LD4X 4-Burner and the Napoleon Rogue XT 525 Natural Gas Grill with Infrared Side Burner? They are both relatively in the price range I can afford..
What’s your opinion on using one of these Napoleon grills in a commercial kitchen (specializing in burgers)? My current commercial grill is beginning to warp (1m in length) and has cold spots.. wondering if a top tier Napoleon would be good? Sorry for the random question lol
The question I have is why would one buy a Rogue? Seriously, when you start loading up the Rogue, you get to the price of the P500 real quick. It's not like there is any difference in price once you load up the Rogue with the same options. The answer, I am afraid, is simple. Is it possible that the Rogue will take the place of the P500 in the market and the P500 moves up to $1600 to $1800?
not that I am aware of, my thought process is this. The prestige is not available at most big box locations and is usually reserved for specialty BBQ dealers. So the high end rouge is in a nice spot for the big box companies

About 29' wide by 13' deep, the back side is completely open (minus a pillar around the center only about 1-2 feet wide). The ceiling is about 10' high (maybe a few inches more, but basically 10 feet). Is it safe to have a gas grill and a pellet gril under the covered area. Do I need to have it close to the outer border of it? Or is it only safe to have a gas and pellet grill completely in the open?
@@embersliving how do people live without this feature /what do they use to not runout of gas during cook? not happy that $400 grils, including webers have this feature but something upscale does not.
youre fukn awesome. I have a Napoleon gas fireplace. My only caveat is that a person must buy from a dealer they trust. A local plumber - gas fitter installed my Napoleon gas fireplace and did a shitty job of install - after many call backs, I called a larger local fireplace store that came in and fixed my Napoleon fireplace - it should be have been fixed under warranty but I had to pay because I switched vendors - long story short - Buy from a reputable dealer. That all said- this is an awesome video and have subscribed to hear the latest
My Napoleon does not cook evenly. That is a not a true statement. I've had them replace everything on and in the grill, and it's never cooked evenly or got hot enough to sear without using the IR burner.
@@embersliving PT450RBIPX2 It's a Prestige II with IR Burner (it's ONLY redeeming quality.) If you use the IR burners a lot, they only last about a year and they're expensive to replace. I have a Weber Genesis at our beach house and it not only gets way hotter than the Napoleon, but it cooks a lot more evenly.
Another great vid! Curious about the Pro 825 with the 2 heads. Can the smaller head cook at low temperature? I realize it's 2 infrared burners but if I want to use to cook veggies fish (shrimps), will everything burn because of the intense heat of the infrared? Thanks!

@@embersliving the are the best that is there on the market! Am considering to buy a Prestige 665 and get the grates in the aftermarket (Napoleon sells them) but they are about $300 extra ...
@@BLKShadow here in Germany the list price is similar but you can fond offers for around 350€ for the 665 set. So I reckoned over there they should be cheaper.
The pull out trays are of terrible quality. I still cannot believe they have not upgraded the material. The stainless steel material of the grates is also subpar and cheap. They rust out easily. Everything else no complaints.
Not sure if things changed, but a company made a "how its made" vid on the napoleon prestige and it was all manufactured in Canada. As far as raw steel, not sure where they get it. The video i saw was 7 years old so not sure if that's the current manufacturer process.
I went to buy a Napoleon Prestige 500 grill today. Then after seeing it up close I bought a Weber E325S Genesis instead. The Weber is better built and $450 less. I have Weber grills older than you son, I have forgotten more than you know.I gave my GenesisII,I purchase in 1985 to my brother-in-law in 2001. I then purchased a Summit 650 due to family growth. My brother-in-law now has both grills and they function just fine. I did maintain and replace parts when needed. In 37 years I have spent approximately $125 for parts, which were readily available through Weber or one of the big box stores. The Genesis is 37 years old and the Summit 21 years old. No flashing lights, no bells ,and no whistles reliable functionality and longevity. Call Weber customer service if an issue arises with your grill and parts are shipped out the following day. I believed all the hype on RUclips reviews promoting, not reviewing the Napoleon and decided to leave a deposit by phone to reserve one , then I went to see it . After seeing and inspecting it it was an inferior high priced grill with bells and whistles , not adding anything to the quality. Lit knobs made from plastic that get hot and crack. It’s just an overpriced Big Boy Toy , if you like to show off, go for it.

Do I need to have it close to the outer border of it? Or is it only safe to have a gas and pellet grill completely in the open?
Each grill should have its own specs for ceiling coverings
awesome review
Thanks!
Thank you for that!

Why don't prestige pro have gas tank scale/measurement? But no problem to put a useless motion controlled light with emblem?!?
not sure! I like the light though .
That all said- this is an awesome video and have subscribed to hear the latest
thanks so much for watching! so sorry about your experience. Buying from a good dealer helps a ton with warranty process for sure
What about the Legend models?
they are discontinued
My Napoleon does not cook evenly. That is a not a true statement. I've had them replace everything on and in the grill, and it's never cooked evenly or got hot enough to sear without using the IR burner.
What model?
@@embersliving PT450RBIPX2 It's a Prestige II with IR Burner (it's ONLY redeeming quality.) If you use the IR burners a lot, they only last about a year and they're expensive to replace. I have a Weber Genesis at our beach house and it not only gets way hotter than the Napoleon, but it cooks a lot more evenly.
Great video as usual.
Thanks for watching!
Another great vid! Curious about the Pro 825 with the 2 heads. Can the smaller head cook at low temperature? I realize it's 2 infrared burners but if I want to use to cook veggies fish (shrimps), will everything burn because of the intense heat of the infrared? Thanks!
it can, but its just a warming burner
Prestige 500... the black or stainless steel... What's the better option? Meaning what exterior will hold up better?
black will cause it won't scratch as much
I read though than black enamel can chip. Does that not mean stainless steel will be more durable?
i was gonna get rogue xt but when u ad the cover and rottisierie it gets closer tot he prrestige 500 hmm
yeah prestige all day
@@embersliving cheers mate. i think im gonna go for the non-phantom as the yellowing of the cast iron grilles would drive me crazy and free rotirssierie. i have a small charcoal grill. do u think im good for that? i was thinking of a kamodo but the warm up time i think would be irritating.
@@ffdfdfdfdfdfdfdf Nice choice!
Great job 👏…. I like the pro Series
Thanks!
@@embersliving I will call you when I am ready to buy. 👍

That's so cool! Thanks for watching.
Awesome video, thanks very much. Please Napoleon give me a 665 Phantom with cast stainless steel grates! ;-)
Right those grates are some bad mamas
@@embersliving the are the best that is there on the market! Am considering to buy a Prestige 665 and get the grates in the aftermarket (Napoleon sells them) but they are about $300 extra ...
@@BLKShadow here in Germany the list price is similar but you can fond offers for around 350€ for the 665 set. So I reckoned over there they should be cheaper.
The pull out trays are of terrible quality. I still cannot believe they have not upgraded the material. The stainless steel material of the grates is also subpar and cheap. They rust out easily. Everything else no complaints.
Im the editor and I bought one and mine hasnt rusted at all. To each their own though! Thanks for watching.
Sounds Like. MAKE IT A LITTLE EASIER, GET YOUR PRICE RANGE DOWN FIRST: GO FROM THERE!!! CO

Can you confirm that the prestige is made in Canda and NOT China?
I think it might be manafactured there.
The Napoleon is all flash and more difficult to repair and get parts for. Their customer service is nonexistent .Please don’t listen to this salesman he is full of 💩💩💩💩
ok
@@embersliving Napoleon grills are crap , call customer service and see what happens…NOTHING
