Question: What do you think contributed to the success of Arthur? And, what was your favorite Arthur moment?
Arthur was great in my opinion because it explored real issues kids dealt with such as bullying cancer death and peer pressure.
To answer your question, probably the same stuff that contributed to all those other good educational children's shows. As for the second part, it's hard to choose favorites, but there were quite a lot of episodes that I liked, both classic and modern.
My favorite Arthur moment is Draw where Francine cries about the drawings and the kids realize Francine does have feelings.
@@jrewing1512 Oh yes, I remember that one! That was so sad :(
I love Arthur
Arthur still holds a special place in my heart, even after all these years,
Same here ❤
I watched Arthur in my single digits age, but I kind of grew out of it and didn't know it was running still.
I didn't know it was running until a few years ago, I heard that it was. I'm glad it went on for so many years, even though I also stopped watching it ages ago 😅
Same. I didn't realize until the controversy over Mr. Ratburn's wedding (and honestly, there were always some signs he might be gay. So it wasn't a bit deal :) )

I was 4 when this show came out. Being apart of the first generation of kids who grew up watching Arthur you realize how special it is. Loved reading the books too. Now I'm 29 and I still can't believe the shows journey is coming to an end. Arthur wasn't afraid to teach kids dark subjects in lfe such as bullying, cancer, and so on. And for that I'll always be grateful. All I can say now is I'll miss ya Arthur. Thanks for the life lessons and great memories buddy.
I agree, it was a really special show. I read the books too. I like how Arthur explored so many different topics, especially the more edgier ones. They were important lessons to learn.
@@DialUpDigest lots of those lessons helped kids that were going through difficult times. It's a shame not many shows today try to reach out to kids.
@@mrnobody2018 times flys doesn't it
@@mrnobody2018 good point now it's up to us to set an example to future generations
@@mrnobody2018 true. Arthur had a great run
Til' this day I sing that Library Card song 😭
😆 It was so catchy, one of my favorites from the show! 😊
I watched Arthur since I was 7! It was a big part of my childhood as a 90s kid! I still watched it as a teenager and adult!
It was a classic show. I haven't watched it in ages, but the first few seasons were really good! :)
So, basically, "Arthur" is a longer-running version of "Hey Arnold!"
Pretty much - Arthur is like a longer-running Hey Arnold, just for younger kids
@@DialUpDigest FACTS: We get four-fingered hands for humans.
Did hey arnold end for real
I still wish the jungle movie aired in the 2000s just to save time
im proud to have grown up on arthur
Me too! We were so lucky :)
I hate endless programs
Oh Arthur...
This was basically where it all started for me. Before I transitioned to watching Nickelodeon by the time I was 6-7 (and later, Cartoon Network), Arthur was my first favorite show. It was great at balancing life lessons and teachable moments with clever humor and a nice slice of life vibe. In a way, it was basically the appetizer in what made me love Hey Arnold, because they were very similar tonally, one was just targeted to a younger audience (fun fact: I once saw a meme of Arthur with a football shaped head that said Hey Arthur).
What's weird though is that even after I had gotten older, those old Arthur episodes hold up surprisingly well. It being as memeable as it's become certainly helps with that, but really, the last time I watched a few episodes, I didn't feel like I was watching something too kiddy for me. And that's a big thing that I believe helped Arthur become as memorable and standout as it is. It's basically the only "preschool age" show people look back on as being substantial and enjoyable compared to other similar shows of its time.
Arthur was my first favorite show too 😊. I agree, Arthur was like Arnold just for younger kids. LOL, Hey Arthur, that's clever 😆
I completely agree, Arthur is one of few shows for "preschool age" kids that I can watch now and still find enjoyable.
I was 9 when this show came out in October 1996, and been a fan ever since. I'll be glad when this airs its last episode next year in early 2022, then it will be in reruns on PBS Kids for years to come.
Yes, I can see reruns airing so many years to come too. It was legendary 🌟
How come I didn't get information about why Arthur was endless during the 2000s or in 2010?
I grew up with this show, and I'll still watch it from time to time - it's just that enjoyable! I really hope they can give us an amazing finale
I agree. I watched it when I was young, but I hope the finale wraps it up well.
I would love to see a documentary on this show
YES, that would be amazing! 🙌
Here it is ruclips.net/video/RKAcXVYJTXU/видео.html
I will remember Arthur! My childhood! I grew up watching this.
Same here! 😊
Why did Arthur have to be endless?
i’m shocked that it ran for so long. had fond memories of the show when i was little. pbs kids in general had amazing childhood classics
I agree, PBS Kids had amazing childhood classics. I have lots of fond memories of the show too
Why didn't PBS kids cancel Arthur after season 15?
This show I truly grew up on when I was a child. I always had this routine. Everytime school was I over and I finished my homework I would be ready to watch Arthur on PBS at 4:00. I admit I stop watching when I got into high school but I rewatch the old episodes. It sad it will be ending but it had a great run.
Same here - Arthur was a part of my routine when I was a kid, but for me it was on TV in the morning before school. The old episodes are classic, not sure about the newer ones, I stopped watching it years ago 😊
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the video because it caught what exactly made Arthur great through out its ongoing run. The show always managed to tackle topics that are important for us to learn at a young age. For a show dedicated to young children, it has always managed to catch my attention for how relevant the topics its discussed are to our everyday life.
Thank you Rohan! 😊 I learned so many lessons from watching Arthur. I liked how the show stayed relevant over the years, it helped keep it interesting and unique.
Saw some Arthurs a few years ago too, out of curiosity. They were interesting
Arthur vs. Arnold
I'll miss Author there will NEVER be another.😢
I loved Arthur. I was Arthur for Halloween when I was 8, the same year I went to the Arthur exhibit at the Boston Children's Museum
I already miss the show,I've watched it since forever
It's a classic! 😊
I hate that it's ending💔💔. Some of my favorite childhood memories were being home from school and getting to watch PBS. It was all about Arthur, The Magic School Bus, Wishbone, and Reading Rainbow!
Good times! 👍 Loved those shows. Later on there was Maya and Miguel, Dragon Tales, Fetch with Ruff Ruffman..PBS made some really good children's programs.
Shows Episodes of Celebrities
Doesn't mention Yo-Yo Ma.
And, you know, we don't talk about Lance Armstrong.
The season 25 episodes I'm looking forward to watching is "All Will Be Revealed!", "Listen Up!" and "All Grown Up"
I still have to watch them! I'm so excited! 😊
@@DialUpDigest okay, I won’t spoil it for you
Arthur is literally the longest running animated PBS Kids series ever.
It's amazing 😮
@@DialUpDigest I know
But why didn't go on hiatus for a few years
As someone with English as a second language, this show really helped me learn English and expand my vocabulary and also get a sense of American humor lol
This show ran for 25 years? I’m 26. 🤯
I remember watching around the ten year anniversary of the show. I only remember that fact because it was all over the channel during that time. I watched a lot of the show because I didn't have cable when I was a kid, so I mainly stuck to PBS
I didn't have cable for a while either, so PBS was one of my go-to channels as well 👍
@@DialUpDigest Did you just saw Bookworm Bunch?
@@alalahoward1299 No, I'm not familiar with the Bookworm Bunch :(
@@DialUpDigest How about Cyberchase?
i loved to watch arthur as a kid i even had an arthur book called "arthur's first sleep over " arthur is the greatest show on pbs
I read the books at my school's library. I think Arthur is the greatest show on PBS as well 😊
Arthur was the only series with no hiatus
I've watched Arthur since the very beginning and seen most if not all episodes and was saddened when I heard it was ending
I was saddened too, but I think the show had a good run though. There are many episodes with timeless lessons that can continue to teach later generations 😊
Did anyone else notice that Matt Damons picture came up alongside the animated version of Lance Armstrong??
My bad! Thank you for catching that 😅
You know how some people make a big deal about famous people being turned into Simpson's character's? When I was a kid I made a big deal of out of famous people being turned into animals on Earth. Take Mr. Rogers for example. I was stoked
I really liked seeing famous people on Arthur too. I was always curious how they chose which animal to represent them. They somehow always made the animal kind of look like the real person, which was a little creepy, but still really cool 😅
@@DialUpDigest I also loved how in that little mid section in between cartoons they would sometimes show how they brought the famous person to life. Like the Mr. Rogers episode. They interviewed Fred Rogers and showed us how they brought him to life in the Arthur world. I thought that was cool how they took time to go into that for us even just as kids there's kids they cared enough to show us why why and how the famous person was there with us
@@chelsea1062 I remember that! I liked seeing that process as well, it was so cool. It really made us feel like we were getting a backstage pass into the world of Arthur.
I love when Binky was teaching Dw how to dance he basically mentioned the theme song 😂 in the episode Dw dancing queen
I wish the Show didn’t have to end
I know 😢
Why didn't the animation during the 2000s!?
I like Arthur before it switched to flash animation after season 15.
I prefer the original animation as well.
Why didn't it end or be on hiatus by then
I didn't want to be buffaloed into watching programs that never end depending on how many years they last for!!!!!!
I didn't want programs to last forever!!!!!!
That lady pushing the boxes over in the beginning must of been hilarious to film
3:59 All I can say to that part is, go watch Mr. Enter's video on PSA's, he'll say a lot more about that scene than I can.
Arthurs description of the love ducks and his freinds reaction to it perfectly describes adult bluey fans 😂

It's been a great ride and awesome show.
Thank you for the greatest childhood memories that I will always cherish forever. 💖❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I loved Postcards from Buster! I'll have to make a video about it one day 😀
I find it interesting that Arthur premiered the same day as Hey Arnold!
Same here. It's funny how they're also similar shows (in that they both teach moral lessons) just targeted to kids of different age groups.
@@DialUpDigest Actually its the same demographic. Arnold's demographic was 5-7 and Arthur's was 4-8
@@SportsFan-vq9kk Oh wow, I always thought Arnold was geared towards an older audience! Thanks for letting me know :)
Rather nicely done that video, though you made a slight mistake on the Matt Damon guest appearence. He was portryed as a bear in The Making of Arthur, that bunny-fied celebrity is the now controversial Lance Armstrong.
Thank you Tyler! 😊 Oh, my bad! Thank you for the correction 👍
I don't feel I want to watch Arthur anymore if the series was there until we grow up
1996 to 2021
i love this cartoon, though to pay homage to such a great character, the show needs all the episodes to be returned to cbbc, and shown to every child in the u.k. i've watched it from episode 1, but wondered why the show not stayed with cbbc, i guess i'd have to be crying my eyes out when no other platform is ever gonna show Arthur in it's entirety ever in the u.k. till i'm totally losing my marbles due to not being able to have a great amount of time enjoying this famous aardvark's brilliant adventures.......... (bursts into tears and feels heartbroken.)
I hope they show reruns!, I think they will too because the show was so successful. There's so many episodes they can entertain a whole new generation!
@@DialUpDigest i'd truly love that, also, i'd truly love all the episodes on region 2 dvd, then i'll keep on enjoying arthur's adventures for the rest of my life. over and over again.

@@mrnobody2018 It's not that Flash is the end, it's how you use it. Sadly they didn't use it well enough
So what did happen to Arthur's nose? He is supposed to be an aardvark after all. Favourite Arthur moment has to be the 'Love Ducks'.
His nose just randomly shrunk, lol. He looks more human I guess, without the long aardvark nose. The 'Love Ducks" episode was a classic 😊
@@DialUpDigest Wow! Is that the actual story! And his whole family as well!
@@stephengriffith6380 Oh no, my bad. I thought you meant literally, what happened to his nose. I just looked it up and apparently, Arthur is self-conscious about his nose and wants to change it, but then after trying on other noses, he decides he is not himself without his own nose, so he keeps it :)

Why do you think that Spongebob lasted longer out of all the nicktoons?
Do you think it should’ve ended already?
If so, when?
I wasn't the biggest SpongeBob fan - I preferred Rugrats when the show came out. But, I am surprised the show is still running after all these years. I think if it's still running, kids today must love it so I guess the writers are doing a good job of keeping the show entertaining. I think if kids still love it, it should continue.
I like your opinion on it. I’m still surprised that it’s still going on to. I thought it was cruel for them to keep seasons going when Steven Hellenberg rejected it, even after his death. I’m also surprised that it has reboots like the Patrick Star Show and Kamp Koral. I know the kids still love it, but they can keep watching the older seasons of it because it’s definitely been the nickelodeon nucleus for some time and it’s becoming over saturated now. It’s sad that there were some nick shows that aired in the 2000’s that kids still like, and some of them either didn’t air long or didn’t show on nickelodeon that much.
@@ikennakonkwo5939 I agree, SpongeBob is Nickelodeon's biggest brand, and it's been that way for a long time. I don't know much about the reboots. Very true, there were some shows that were good but didn't air very long.
@Gabriel Litewski They are, but that’s not what I’m saying. I’m basically talking about how nickelodeon keeps coming up for more and more ideas for spongebob. They should let it die already.
Programs aren't supposed to last forever!!!!!
