Bad Religion is legendary! Greg Graffin (the lead singer) has a PhD in molecular biology from Cornell and gives lectures there. Bad Religion has no bad songs!
I don't remember which of their videos it was but it's an old one where they are all introducing themselves and saying what they do and it's like jesus everyone of these guys is a genius and then the drummer comes up and he says yeah I just play nintendo all day.
"American Jesus" "Infected" and "I Want to Conquer the World" are all classic Bad Religion songs. In more recent years they've had hits with "Sorrow" "Los Angeles is Burning" and "New Dark Ages." They're responsible for popularizing hardcore punk on the west coast, and their social commentary is on point.
My favorite band, hands down. Grew up in the late 80's, early 90's Gen X era and I can relate to almost every single one of their songs. You need to hear American Jesus, Recipe for Hate, Slumber, Sorrow, Inner Logic, Struck a Nerve... I could go on for days...
I'm from 1991... and I remember the first time I heard this song on Tony hawk pro skater when I was a kid... and it was like wow man this is straight fire 🔥... they're 🐐 status imo.
Seconded on Walk Away. BR are possibly my favorite band, and that’s my desert island song. I wish it were longer! (I find that applies to most of their catalogue)
I’m so glad you’re getting into Bad Religion. I found these guys in high school and they are just brilliant. Short and sweet songs, but their discography is amazing 🙌🏻 Please keep listening to them as they have a huge collection of amazing songs
Absolut punkrock legends! Infected, 21st century digital boy, Los Angeles is burning, Stranger than fiction. And one of my favorits, and really underrated - News from the front.
i always interpreted the song is about death and the afterlife. hes mentions about people supposedly going to a fantasy world when they expire and thats not a road he has found because hes an athiest. where everyone has been and where everybody goes. Nonexistence.
I always took it to be about the impact that one particular person can have on your life, especially when it's a relationship you're highly invested in, and how difficult it can be to remove that influence. Could be romantic, friendly, religious, business, etc...
Bad Religion is an Amazing band, one of the best in punk rock, try "the Wrong kids", "faith alone", "the Handshake", "punk Rock son", "sorrow"...they have a huge catalog.
This was my song on tony hawk pro skater 2 and how I discovered the band. I'd always look for this song to play in the menu whenever I was doing free skate in the game. Been a fan of the band ever since and gone through their whole discog time and time again.
One of the most intelligent bands ever. There's jokes about their fans needing multiple dictionaries in order to get all the lyrical parts. I'd highly recommend "sorrow" for you guys by them
One of the bars that shaped my life’s path as anthropologist came from this album: “But you never know what other people do. You’re too scared of other people not like you.”
It's crazy how everyone is dropping their favorite songs and it's already up to dozens of different ones after only ~40 comments. This band has a deep, deep catalog and zero bad songs. My picks would be Generator, I Want to Conquer the World, All There Is, and Beyond Electric Dreams. You might need a dictionary for that last one. It includes the lyrics "a theophany of flaming creosote in disguise"-God speaking through a burning bush-and "ratiocination is a practicable way to derive / an attitude of altitude and probity by which to abide"-humans can formulate a valid code of ethics without divine instructions. That probably makes it sound weird, but I promise it's a kickass song.
I was introduced to BR in 1992 and they have been my fav band ever since. I know all their songs. Off of the Age of Unreason album, my fav songs are The Approach, Age of Unreason, Since Now and End of History. The adjacent B Sides and singles: Emancipation Of The Mind, The Profane Rights Of Man, What Are We Standing For and Faith Alone 2020. I met Greg Graffin recently at a book signing for Punk Paradox. I got to talk with him and we took pictures together. It was insane meeting one of my heroes. He was extremely kind. He literally emanates this gentle, acute vibe that he cares deeply about people and the world.
One of my most memorable live music experiences was at a Bad Religion show. I was reasonably close, and once the band came out, everyone got a lot closer. The crowd was chaotic, electrified by the music, going crazier and crazier as the band blasted out Generator and American Jesus, and it was hard to stay upright, but if you started to fall, everyone around you would pull you back up. That's the kind of band Bad Religion is, and that's the kind of fans they have.
Lex is such a rocker. I'm an old-school metal head/punk guy. She always rocks out when she hears quality head-banging music. She could totally hang at a Pennywise or Iron Maiden show.
Bad Religion is one of the most awesome bands ever and are also friends with the German punk band die Toten Hosen. There are even joint projects like the song "Raise your Voice". I love it and also the message that is inherent in it.
American Jesus is my favorite song. You really will like it. From the album Recipe of Hate. This is punk rock to the max. The best bands up with Pennywise, NOFX, Bellrays
I just love me some Rock, some Metal, some Punk, some Punk-Rock and some Punk-Metal (among many other music-genres)! Bad Religion is just one of those bands that will forever stay on my playlist!🤘❤🤟
Bad Religion is incredible. I highly recommend Generator, American Jesus, Struck a Nerve, as a first song. The singer has a PHD and is brilliant and those songs are a little more entry level songs for them. Would love to get your take!
Lex's face as soon as this started is probably identical to the one I made when I first heard this on a Punk-o-Rama compilation in the late 90s. I cannot stand Badger Legion tbh, but this song is an absolute classic
1994 I crowd surfed at a Bad Religion gig, I’m a big guy so that never happened before or since. I fell down and was picked up by the crowd and carried to the stage, then all the way across the moss pit to the back. Coolest pit ever! “Stranger than fiction” and “Inner Logic” are great songs by them also.
It looks like Lex digs punk. Yay! This is a fantastic rabbit hole to go down, and make sure to include some ska, too. Descendents, Social Distortion, Rancid, NOFX, Pennywise, Lagwagon, Goldfinger, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Operation Ivy, Streetlight Manifesto, Mighty Mighty Bosstones... holy crap. You really need to have some more punk streams lol
Her happy reaction is really sweet, and give an old BR fan confident that the youth, may in fact, be open to an age of ideas, or will these kids lead up into the new dark ages.
Listen to "I Want to Conquer the World" by them, it's a must, but also try "Suffer", "Walk Away", "A Streetkid Named Desire", and "American Jesus". Though they don't make bad songs so anything else is also good.
I got into Bad Religion on the Recipe For Hate album and became a fan. I went back and listened to the earlier stuff and loved it all. The one thing I've always thought was cool is how even when the music is going super fast Greg's voice stays steady and smooth.
I love BR...I just love them. This brings memories of being on the bus with my buddies talking about how "deep" BR is lol...Im 41 now, so these are cherished memories.
This song is about death. "There's a place where everyone can be happy" "There's a place where everyone can be right, even though you remain determined to be opposed" Sounds like they're describing Heaven with those lines. "And when the farm is good and bought (buying the farm is another way of saying kicking the bucket) you'll be there without a thought, and eternity my friend is a long fucking time." really cements it for me.
Since nobody is saying it, the song is about dying/life being short ("it's where everyone has been and where everybody goes" and "eternity my friend is a long fucking time" being before and after life) and how "you" are wasting your time being hateful and ruining other's lives.
Such a Classic song from the best melodic punk-rock record ever No Control (shared with another BR rec Suffer ;-) ) And even once masses seem to have found & understood which is a gem of a song as it has already 45 Million listens at Spotify, really. :-) :-D
Flat earth society, 29th century digital boy, against the grain, basically anything off against the grain album from 1990, it's what got me into these guys
I like that you guys aren’t just about fan service. You don’t just act blown away by shit in agreement with others taste. You seem to give honest reactions. Love this song. Keep going with punk rock. Nofx, Lagwagon, Pennywise, Strung Out. All skate punk vs other types. All inspired by Bad Religion…and RKL.
Of all the albums, so rad that you picked a track from this one! It's all fire but this is my first love. But anything off Suffer and Against the Grain is absolute fire. This song is soooooo good! Hooks and ooooohs and ahhhhhhs :)
One of the greatest bands of all time. Trailblazers in what I guess you'd call "thesaurus punk", lol. Their list of great songs worth listening too is colossal. Greg Graffin's solo stuff is very folk-ey and equally incredible. So many great songs, but maybe listen to "21st Century (Digital Boy)" next.
Nice one! Of course Bad Religion is legendary, speed, guitars, melodies, vocal harmonies… this one is from 89 I think… they are still on tour, relevant for 40 years now! Thanks, they are underrated, but inspired generations of punk bands like The Offspring, Green Day and so on… 👍🤘
Bad Religion is legendary! Greg Graffin (the lead singer) has a PhD in molecular biology from Cornell and gives lectures there. Bad Religion has no bad songs!
He used to teach at UC Irvine
No bad songs. This.
And everybody knows that those guys with PhDs in molecular biology that give lectures at Cornell really know how to rock.
I concur.
I don't remember which of their videos it was but it's an old one where they are all introducing themselves and saying what they do and it's like jesus everyone of these guys is a genius and then the drummer comes up and he says yeah I just play nintendo all day.
One of the greatest bands ever.
Y'know, I would have guessed you like them a lot no matter what you posted 🤣
Yeah, something just tells me. 😉
Bet
Indeed.
Jesus loves you, even you, you brainwashed atheist
Bad Religion are an AMAZING band. Seriously, NO bad songs. "No Control" & "Suffer" are my two personal favorite albums of theirs.
I totally agree!
Two of the best albums OF ALL TIME.
Against the grain !
@@mirkotrifunovic5823 the holy trinity of awesome albums!
I can probably sing the entire No Control album from memory!!
Legend has it that once you listen to about 4 bad religion albums, you get an honorary PhD
This band is my entire childhood. I'm 40 and they're still my all time favorite band.
The first Bad Religion song I heard was "Stranger Than Fiction", it got a lot of play on my local alternative station when I was a kid
Dont pray on me
What a great song by a legendary punk band.
you should try every songs in that album, it's absolute fire !
Bad Religion is just a really Really intelligent and hyper punk band. I've been a fan for 32+ years, they don't have a bad song in their catalog.
Same era, same experience cousin 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Same. This song and Dead Kennedy’s Police Truck off THPS 1 are what sent me on a life long punk rock journey
I was born in 92, and THPS2 introduced me to both Lagwagon and Bad Religion.
"Walk Away" is my favorite Bad Religion song, but their catalog is worth diving into.
Walk Away is the best. Guitars have never sounded better.
Seconded on Walk Away. BR are possibly my favorite band, and that’s my desert island song. I wish it were longer! (I find that applies to most of their catalogue)
OMG THG BEST PUNK BAND EVER!!
This was my number 1 most played on Spotify last year 🙂
This is my youth right here. Late 80's, early 90's, skateboarding and punk rock. Lots of Bad Religion was played!
Bad religion you guys are definitely my favorite covering so many great bands .
Bad religion can’t do no wrong in my eyes
I’m so glad you’re getting into Bad Religion. I found these guys in high school and they are just brilliant. Short and sweet songs, but their discography is amazing 🙌🏻
Please keep listening to them as they have a huge collection of amazing songs
Absolut punkrock legends!
Infected, 21st century digital boy, Los Angeles is burning, Stranger than fiction. And one of my favorits, and really underrated - News from the front.
Hell yeah! 21st century digital boy, better off dead, infected, no control. All great!
i always interpreted the song is about death and the afterlife. hes mentions about people supposedly going to a fantasy world when they expire and thats not a road he has found because hes an athiest. where everyone has been and where everybody goes. Nonexistence.
That and calling out those who claim to know everything based off the Bible and the toxicity they’ve unleashed on the world that stains our society.
I always took it to be about the impact that one particular person can have on your life, especially when it's a relationship you're highly invested in, and how difficult it can be to remove that influence.
Could be romantic, friendly, religious, business, etc...
So happy you guys did BR. Been a fan of your channel for a while and was hoping you’d get to them eventually.
Funny that she says mixed with thrash. That's where thrash comes from, punk influences. lol
SoCal punk rock band!. From the LA punk scene. They are cool. 🎸 lot of good songs from them.
Bad Religion is one the greatest punk rock bands ever. Just pick any song and there's no way to go wrong.
NOFX - The Decline. Should def do that masterpiece.
Growing up, I loved this song so much. Great band. Glad y’all gave it a try!
Love that you guys are reaching to punk bands!!!
this song made me fall in love with bad religion. happy to see this
Punk Band! One of the best to ever do it! Listen to more of them, you won't be disappointed.
Bad Religion is an Amazing band, one of the best in punk rock, try "the Wrong kids", "faith alone", "the Handshake", "punk Rock son", "sorrow"...they have a huge catalog.
Yeah, some good skate punk rock!!!! 🤘🏽
Thank you for doing BR!! Greg Graffin’s lyrics are unmatched. He’s super cerebral so keep a dictionary close by
Generally, I totally agree; specifically, this is a Brett song. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves
Bad religion, the offspring and Sum 41, my big 3 of Californian punk rock
Sum 41 are all Canadian…
Love it and wish for more of them from you guys!
I'd highly recommend "sorrow" for you guys by them
" Please try not to be impatient, tho we all hate standing in lines" one of my most favorite lines in all of music.
American Jesus, their biggest hits, transcend punk almost like Blitzkrieg Bop or Bro Hymn from Pennywise (one song you should definitly react to)
Exactly. Also my pick. What a song.
Takes me back to playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 as Spider-Man. Love it.
I love that you do this!
So fun to watch your take!!
Please more Bad Religion!!!
My favorite Bad Religion song.
One of the bars that shaped my life’s path as anthropologist came from this album: “But you never know what other people do. You’re too scared of other people not like you.”

Those are amazing picks! Especially Beyond Electric Dreams.

❤️🌹 bad religion@punk rock
LOVE THIS BAND!!! Try their songs "21st Century Digital Boy"... "Sorrow"...and my personal favorite "Los Angeles is Burning"

Check out Bad Religion's song "Infected" one of their better songs.
I agree!
New dark ages is great. And I wonna conquer the world.
Sanity is one of the best songs ever written. This one is up there too in the high bar level that is Bad Religion. My favorite punk band, hands down.
The lyrics from quality or quantity will impress
This song reminds me of playing Tony Hawk 2 on PlayStation at my friend's house every day after school... Good times :)
Punk! Throbbing bass guitar! Check out more Bad Religion
Guess where thrash gets it's influences from? Punk lol.
American Jesus is my favorite song. You really will like it. From the album Recipe of Hate.
This is punk rock to the max. The best bands up with Pennywise, NOFX, Bellrays
I don’t need to be a global citizen because I’ve got my nationality
A perfect representation of the Right wing
this is the legendary punk professor greg and his gang bad religion! there are so many good songs with them
I just love me some Rock, some Metal, some Punk, some Punk-Rock and some Punk-Metal (among many other music-genres)! Bad Religion is just one of those bands that will forever stay on my playlist!🤘❤🤟
More punk!!!!
This song is what made me love punk music.
yes the goats !!!!!
This is punk.
Good choice - they are so very great
Punk is kind of like sonic pop rocks, it seems simple and sugary, but its surprisingly explosive.
Bad Religion is incredible. I highly recommend Generator, American Jesus, Struck a Nerve, as a first song. The singer has a PHD and is brilliant and those songs are a little more entry level songs for them. Would love to get your take!
Bad Religion has the highest vocabulary of any band of any genre.
Lex's face as soon as this started is probably identical to the one I made when I first heard this on a Punk-o-Rama compilation in the late 90s. I cannot stand Badger Legion tbh, but this song is an absolute classic

There you go!!! this underground right here and theres alot more!!!!!! Thank you, maybe you'll do some MELVINS-Revolve some day?
Imo, The Empire strikes first is one of those albums were every song is great
Hell yea!!!
Not a huge Bad Religion fan, but I do remember this song from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.
Bad Religion, best punk band of all time!
I got into Bad Religion on the Recipe For Hate album and became a fan. I went back and listened to the earlier stuff and loved it all. The one thing I've always thought was cool is how even when the music is going super fast Greg's voice stays steady and smooth.

Shattered faith,no control, punk rock song, broken, chronophobia ( acoustic) ,sorrow. So many good songs

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Bad Religion rules
Flat earth society, 29th century digital boy, against the grain, basically anything off against the grain album from 1990, it's what got me into these guys
Against the grain was my first br album, I had that shirt too but it got ripped playing football.
I give you guys credit for straying outside of the musical safe zone.
Brings me back to my skating days that I miss SO much!
This is the song that made me a punk rocker
Please do more punk rock like Pennywise, NOFX, Crash-11....
Of all the albums, so rad that you picked a track from this one! It's all fire but this is my first love. But anything off Suffer and Against the Grain is absolute fire. This song is soooooo good! Hooks and ooooohs and ahhhhhhs :)
So happy to see more Bad Religion reactions 🤩
Music reaches Lex's soul. It's awesome to watch

Try their songs SORROW or Los Angeles is burning
Sorrow os so good
TONY HAWK PRO SKATER!!
Oh shit! A reaction to my first, favorite, and most nostalgic Bad Religion song? Nice!!!
Maestro Fresh Wes - Let Your Backbone Slide
Please do No Control, lead track from the album this song is from.
Awesome, one of my favorite songs of all time!
If i could like this more than just once I would!! Top shelf guys!!
