I admire the way everyone handled Kelly on his side. Stay low key, figure it out, and keep everybody safe. Kelly knew he was in a situation and you saved any ribbing for the campfire later.
I hope I can find a good bunch of people to wheel with when I get my Jeep going again.
    Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

They black lines on the rocks aren’t necessarily from “all the years” of people going across the rocks. You’d be amazed how quickly they disappear after a couple of good storms. Usually your just looking at that seasons lines. I’ve seen Hells Revenge with zero tracks at the beginning of the season before.

Nate, on version 2.0. Put an intake kill plate setup in front of the turbo. Incase u have a run away u flip a switch and it closes off the intake starving the engine of air killing it and hopefully saving it from blowing itself up.

    Great video Nate,
I've been wheeling in the mountains on the east slopes of the Cascades, central eastern Washington, for years and I prefer to "take it easy " because most of the time I have to drive home in my Jeep and don't want to chance an impromptu overnight stay.
I would love to be wheeling there in that Beautiful country with Y'all.
But my 94' YJ is basically stock except the 2.5 " lift springs because of the nature of the terrain in the PNW!! I really need to swap out the stock axles and get lockers too.
GLAD you kept the inside for your engine where it belongs. 👍
Love the fab videos you do as much as the wheeling.

Great job guys. No grief for Kelly. We all have to make decisions and know our rigs and comfort levels. Thrills need to be done with some common sense. I did Pritchett twice while there. But knowing inside gut instinct in smart. Congratulations and all the best on your own venture Nate. Safe wheeling.

The Escalator is no joke. I got screwed up in there first trip too. Lots of the “easy” stuff in Moab and Sandhollow still carry huge punishments for mistakes. It’s a great spot to not wheel with an ego or trying to show off, especially when you are on vacation and planning on driving your rig.

@andrew kaperick, I live in Scotland and there's a peak on the Isle of Skye, Cullen Mountains called the Inaccessible Pinnacle! It's the only Mountain in Scotland that you need climbing experience to get to the top of, possibly ropes, harnesses and climbing shoes. You certainly need to abseil (Rappel) off the top. It's worth Googling it! I climbed it in July 2019 and there was a crowd of people hanging around, none of them wanted to be the first to climb. It's certainly more than a scramble. I climbed to the top where you descend to from the flake of rock, took off my rucksack, took out my rope and harness and climbed back down to the start with everyone watching. Off I climbed and ten minutes later I was setting up my rope to abseil back down to my rucksack. It's not a hard climb but it is "exposed" with an 800ft drop off on one side. The 12/15 people gave me a round of applause when I was back down and I felt embarrassed. I enjoyed the climb but what I didn't tell them was that I've climbed it over a dozen times before. I spent the next hour and a half guiding people up to the peak. I have fought my fear of heights and climbed all over Europe, I've even done a free fall parachute course while I was serving in the British Armed Forces, 5 static line jumps and 7 free falls but I suppose that I don't show my emotions, either good or bad, excited or bored. I just get on and do it and make good memories! Don't listen to the piss takers..... as long as you enjoyed yourself, Kapp. That's all that matters!

Kapps has a nice build. I think his rig is a good illustration of an engine that makes good power and torque, vs. Nate's small displacement turbo diesel that has a ton of torque, but lacks a bit in the power department. If all you need to do is crawl then Nate's engine works great. Turbo diesels are great a crawling. If you want wheel speed, you need power to produce that (torque over time) and a small displacement engine will struggle (size and number of power strokes per second is lower). Nate had to get that small diesel up to high RPM (give it all the beans) to generate the power to get the wheels spinning to exit the hot tub, but Kapps just laid into the throttle with moderate RPM and generated the power needed to get the wheels spinning and exit the obstacle.

Nate in version 2.0 move your PCV to the middle of the valve cover. Drill and rebung. that way it won’t suck up oil at high down angle and high up angle on hills you can still put the catch can but my design is superior. Plug that back of the valve cover pcv port. Make sure you mention me if you go my route. 👍

I was just there last week my 02 Sequoia, pretty much walked up hell's revenge with an awesome spotter and co pilot. I feel like the longer/wider wheel base made it fairly simple.

When you get bak home, dry sump the sucker. Get a pump that will pull.vacuum on the lower part of the engine and gimbal the dry sump tank.
