Virtua Racing on GameBoy Advance

- This is an unofficial prototype of a Gameboy Advance version of Virtua Racing, which is copyrighted by SEGA.
This version was developed by Luis Pons and Laurent Samani. As director of DREAM ON STUDIO, I (Ben Yoris) was project manager and contacted SEGA for publishing.
With the arrival of the Nintendo DS and changes in SEGA corporation, the prototype couldn't become a full game.
Please tell me what you think of this version !
So much of me wants to actually see this polished up and finished.
Even Sega Rally ended up on the GBA and Sonic Battle's arenas were in 3D too.
this would've probably sold well on gba, virtua racing has always been a game that means innovation and breakthroughs, and it probably wouldve done the same for gba, even if there were already 3d games on the gba.
Believe me, as project manager on this game, it's réal.
Awesome project put the link on description
Great job, you work on virtua fighter GBA too?
@@rustymixer2886 Hello, thanks :) No absolutely not.
@@onevision34 oh somebody did put virtua fighter 3d on gba I thought was u, but this vr is wizardry too
Makes me wish a Daytona USA project for Nintendo ds was in the works along with virtua fighter 2 and a 3d afterburner
this could have been cool. i think virtua racing is a game that would have really fitted the gba.
Yes indeed, i will never understand why it was never released on ,also virtua fighter would,ve fit well on gba,
Also nintendo should,ve release starfox, stunt race fx etc,,, on gba under the name starfox advance and stunt race advance
Also vortex, dirt tracks, dirt racer among other 3D fx games should,ve been on gba,
And what about hard drivin,f22, and steel talons, they could,ve fit well on the gba either😁
I don't know how well this would have sold, but I personally definitely would have bought it. Had way too much fun playing the Genesis version (rented, I couldn't afford to buy it, nobody could, anyone who claims they owned a copy is lying) not to.
I owned a Genesis version :) But I saved a loooong time to buy it. I was 15...
amazing
Awesome
It stills bums me out that we never got an official port of Virtua Racing on the Game Boy Advance. Even looking over the footage, it showed so much potential and it ultimately was a shame Sega shut the project down before it went through production. Thanks for sharing!
I'm so dissapointed this wasn't released! :(
We may not have Virtua Racing on the GBA, but it's now out on the Nintendo Switch in Japan. I don't know how long until it's released worldwide but it can't be long now...
This actually looks smoother than my switch version with annoying screen twitch when accelerating 🤷🏻♂️
Oh wow, this is pretty cool. Way better than the genesis ver. (compared to most other MDtoGBA ports). Love how the "TIME BONUS!" is kept intact.
Hello. I would like to ask your permission to use part of this video, for one I am making about ports to the Gameboy Advance, if it is not too much trouble.
No problem you may proceed
Oh man that's so cool! I would've loved to see this happen.
*Acropolis theme plays with Sonic Advance instruments*
Ok, yeah, this is real, I believe you*
Even if this were released in 2005 (with the DS already launched), it would have been groundbreaking. Great work, and a shame it couldn't be completed.
That was developed in 2003-2004. I just posted the video for the record.
Thank you and nice job your team did on punching above the gba limits
WOW! how does it compare to 32x? clearly better than genesis version
Does a ROM of the game exists?
Mind blowing, just imagine if it was released, now imagine if this was a lounch game, that would,ve blow our balls off.
Remember how the simple looking gba was stated as the handheld of the future,it was stated as the handheld of the new millennium.
I miss this game, it was fantastic played it .
I need this
Always wanted a GBA port of VR after I saw stuff like Star X and Drome Racers on the machine with fairly smooth framerate flat-shaded visuals.
I guess now I know what happened. Bit of a shame this never got to see the light of day.
Good job! It looks just like the 32x version!
Mario Wario mmm... the 32x look better
genesis looks better lol, this looks like crap
No it doesn't, it looks near the 32x port, but with lower res.
Honestly I don’t think the bitrate is good enough to really compare
32x is more powerful than the gba, but still this version looks very nice imo
I wonder how a DS version would be like
It's really hard to believe it was running on real GBA. All GBA with 3d graphics looks much more slow and with all type of problems like warping, wrong layer positioning, etc... If this is really running in the GBA, so Sega made a miracle of an engine.
It was not Sega but our studio (Dream On). Unfortunately after discussing with Sega at the time they did not want to fund the project.
@@onevision34 But was it running on actual GBA hardware or a proof of concept emulating the machine's specs? There is some fantastic wizard 3D code, by some uber talented people, released on DBA but none that looks like this. I would bet the house this would not run on a stock retail GBA without some heavy downgrade to visuals/fidelity.
@@tmacmc2984 Real GBA. No tricks, no emulator.
@@tmacmc2984 Your house is mine, happy ^^
wow, looks very amazing for a gba game!
Can/has the ROM been dumped for prosperity?
I second this
I third this
Can you release the ROM?
Retro Plus Christ man, good work but these comments down here are hard to read. People calling this fake? People saying it looks unfinished? UGH does anyone understand development? Nice work! Would've been amazing!
www.amazon.com/SHEAWA-Boy-Cyclone-Dumper-Game-Advance/dp/B07QNV3S25 if you only have the prototype in cartridge form, you can get this, put the cartridge in it, and extract the rom.
This is on GBA?! It looks like a DS game! Very cool!
Thank you !
The gba is a 32bit machine what did you expect?
@@lex_4242 I guess you're right, there were even better looking 3D GBA games than this. I didn't know about the other 3D games back then, but this is still kinda cool
rom?
Sorry for the bad Divx quality...
Do You have a rom available ? I'm working on a video for My gaming channel. Let's Compare ( Virtua Racing )
cool!
but why would sega want to make a game from 1992 for the GBA?
F1 Bobby So people could take it on the go!
convenience.
yes but, this is 11 or 12 years after the game came out why would sega still want to make it for a very new console? is this a special AGES edition?
well it pretty...unfinished :(
Gamestion42 Well I never said it was finished :) It was a concept prototype.
very slow
i think this is fake
If you think it's fake then you should look at this: ruclips.net/video/igEUjEci-eg/видео.html (same hardware).
Some think this is a fake too ... but trust me, it's not (I tried it).
