  • Jon Arthur in live match fishing action during a 50-peg Winter League competition at Packington Fisheries in the Midlands. A free insight into someone approaching a five-hour match on a mixed fishery where both carp and skimmers can play a big part. This rough-and-ready film was shot entirely with an iPhone. It is not easy to film yourself while fishing (especially during an important match) so please appreciate it and enjoy it for what it is!

    Jon 1st of all congrats on coming 2nd , next congrats on the 46lb of skimmers wow sir !! , but I have to congratulate you most on the video what a watch and the length of it was fantastic I was glued from start to Finish at one point I watched the clock and you hooked a skimmer and it was in the net in 32 secs . I really wish more top anglers would do these videos this length of the match you learn us so much and it's a fantastic plug for your sponsors tell the they need to get you a camara , it would be great for them !! . This really is one of if not the best match video I have watched, I really really hope you do more long ones like this . So all that's left is to say yet again well done you did great . And thanks for the great video . Andy .

      +Andy Watts Thanks Andy! I've got pro film gear and do shoot and edit top-end films, but I think its nice to do cheap n nasty stuff like this, too. Its like a rough sketch without all the bells n whistles. It lets me do the most important thing... fish!

      +Jon Arthur cheers for the reply Jon I've got to be honest it doesn't look cheap and nasty at all mate , it really doesn't you have done great with it ! . Was just saying about a camera as I really believe that vids like you make are the way forward only as unfortunately most people don't get to see you all live fishing even less in matches. You would be amazed and I mean really amazed how much we the average angler learn from these videos and we do go for tackle we see you using , I couldn't believe the drennan series 7 reel with a rear drag you was using on the method I have one and I love it but people keep telling me I should be using a front drag one , I was on the verge of buying one but I have two of the series 7 ones and I love them so do I really need to change?? I not so convinced now (see ha ha you really through a spanner in the works ) . I really think these videos with the anglers seeing the tackle is massive . I really appreciate your time and effort mate .

      +Andy Watts I actually do prefer my Series 7 BRs for feeder but still not got round to swapping them over. Series 7 BR 9-30s for normal work and bigger 9-40s for chucking a bit. Might go for a mini big pit reel for mega chucks. The beauty of being with Drennan is, unlike every other company I know, we are not actually forced to use the gear and are free to use other company's if we prefer.

    Really enjoyed it ,made me late for bed .very informative. Better than seeing a well known angler going to a empty lake showing us novices how to do it when there the only ones there . More please

    I thought I would try something different last weekend and film a much longer Live Match with my trusty little iPhone. I've done a few 'Vlogs' but never one that's 90-mins long and on a big and important match. It probably cost me a fish or two filming it and getting up to move the camera etc but the day turned out even better than I expected. It's a bit long in places, but it's a 5-hour match after all and I was trying to win it! Doing stuff like this, writing, photographing, filming and documenting it is just as much fun to me as the actual fishing. I hope you appreciate and enjoy it for what it is...

    I'm told one of the lakes has some nice roach and it fishes well in winter. But I think it must be one of the deeper lakes, do you know the Roach lake?

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  6 лет назад

      They've all got a good head of silverfish but I'm not sure which one you'd target specifically for roach. Molands Lake there has some nice roach in it but you'd have to wade through the carp and F1s first!

    @ 6:45 your landing net is pointing in the air ?!?!?!.......it’s also not very big.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  3 года назад

      It’s not a landing net. It’s called a pole sock.

    Not strictly sure you should feed with you Pole. cup with your rod in. Sure there is a rule that doesn't allow that Jon.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  7 лет назад +4

      Steven, it's allowed at the venue (and others I know such as Hallcroft). Fast fwd to 19:00 minutes and I actually acknowledge the fact that it's allowed at Packington, but might not be allowed at some other venues that are run to 'AT model match rules'. Hope that clarifies things. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the video :-)

      Suppose it's only like firing out bait on another line
