Well done JON that was brilliant congrats on your win & like you said stunning fish I really in joyed your video I watched it again & fishing at 20 meters WOW well done again.
Well done 👏 John on match win and an awesome performance dobbing and topping up with silvers.Youve got to be up there with the elite in the country ,just what I kneeded to buck me up on my 3rd day of isolation after catching covid! Good luck this year on all your matches but especially the biggies.look forward to future vids.cheers.
What a great way of showing how to fish a well stocked water in winter. The use of the dobbing rig was pretty hard core. I agree that it could very well been a few fish on the bread and then using maggot to get the backup weight. A great match win by working the peg to get the best possible result. Also as per usual a fantastic and clear commentary with tips galore. Well done Jon.
Well done another great video and a good start to2022.out of all the people doing videos yours are by far the best for clarity & and content keep it up
your commitment to that Dobbing technique was amazing …. just watching you go fishless while the other guys started to land some lumps was making me anxious 😬 but then that’s what makes you stand out amongst your peers …. you made it look simple but then experts at what they are doing generally do 👍👍 Great video sir thank you for sharing your match and techniques ….ATB to you for 2022 .. i’ll be following along from sunny Colorado regards Dave Mc
Brilliant angling as always. Total confidence in your approach. Interesting little tip with pinching just the bottom of your bread punch ...defo give that a try. Tight lines and all the best for new year, with loads more vids please . 👌
Always thought crescent was a silvers lake. Fished it a few times and only ever caught silvers. Surprised with the stamp of Carp that's in there. Great vid as always mate.
Fantastic job, 30lb more than second place, and most of that extra weight caught on maggot in the last hour, by the looks of the video, after you've been steadily feeding that swim up and leaving it alone. That's proper fishing!
I qualified for the fisho final back in ‘98 Jon ( Steve ringer won !!) I didn’t have a 20 mtr pole then but a friend of fat Phil who lived up that way ( Doncaster) lent me his and helped me on the day,to say it was hard work was an understatement !!! And that was letting it float because that was the in thing to do back then !!! My only claim to fame !!
Nice one Jeff. I remember when 20m floating poles were all the rage! Thankfully those days are behind us. I can fish 17 ok but past that it's no fun at all. And I'd welcome a 16m limit everywhere, but when it's allowed and a peg like this one I would never have got within 3m of the far bank with a rod because of all the trees and branches.
Great result Jon, even I was gutted when you lost those two fish 🥺the fish in Packington are all very nice Looking, and need telling it’s winter and to stop pulling so hard, I’m noticing a change of accent too 😎 definitely a brummie drawl creeping in from fishing there so often😁
Hi Jon I wished you a happy healthy prosperous new year, that didn't take long did it😄. That's talent for you, especially after the draw, and nobody near you on weight either, brilliant buddy. Take care, stay safe, regards to the ladies and Keep it lit 👍 my friend.
What a day’s winter fishing! Would love to have a days dobbing like that, then the line for the last hour or so looked awesome fun. Does dobbing only work at the far bank? Could you successfully dob the near side or does all the commotion mean it would be a waste of time? Well don Jon that was awesome. More match vids please!
It works wherever you think the carp have shoaled up for shelter and safety. Islands and bushes are ideal, but the deepest water is sometimes where they'll be happier, or even down the margins in some venues, especially the ones with reeds and stagings sticking out.
Well done on the win Jon the snag is I cannot manage anything over 12/half metres, would a bomb and bread technique work as well? or could the dobbin work away from the far bank and try in mid water? Keep em going Jon. and a big Thank you.
Yes bomb and bread will definitely work, but obviously the splash creates a bit more disturbance if the fish are extra wary. It will also definitely work in open water on venues where the fish are shoaled up tightly within pole range. On this particular like it seems the carp love hugging the margins and far bank.
Always off the bottom, anything from a few inches to half depth. I tend to find 15 to 24 inches is a good depth up to cover, but you can do it in deeper open swims and I tend to find 6in to a foot off the deck is right in that situation.
Good result Jon. What I’m looking at is elastic/ top kits for this winter time. When you are using 6-8 Slik are you on match top or power top and again when on 10-12 Slik what top kit do you use or recommend
What beautiful looking carp Jon. Great result. Re welly's on the wrong feet, I've got some some old Moon Boots that can go on either foot but they always looked like they were on the wrong foot for some reason so I put L and R inside the tops in black felt tip pen so at least they're always on the same foot. The original foam inners went years ago but shaped carpet inserts with universal liners work fine. All the best for 2022.
Well what a brilliant weight jon ... 👏 68-lb,5oz !!!!! . No body near you !!! What was the next weight 38 lb ??? You nearly had double his weight 😳.. many congrats ... you make it look so easy ... lol .
Useless trivia: Bobbles have been worn on clothing since the Viking era in the UK, from around 793AD to 1066. The mythological Norse god Freyr was depicted with head gear that itself had a pom-pom on. A small statue was discovered in 1904 on a farm in Sweden showing that.
What a day’s winter fishing! Would love to have a days dobbing like that, then the line for the last hour or so looked awesome fun. Does dobbing only work at the far bank? I've had some great carp sobbing bread down the margins and in open water, but I think this particular lake is a bit shallow and clear where I was pegged. However, peg 4 had some nice carp dobbing 13m down his reedy margin on this lake yesterday! They definite;y like reeds and cover when it's cold and clear, but some days and venues they are happier sitting in a ball in the deepest part of the lake.
Well done Jon,a bit of a masterclass there buddy
Glad you enjoyed it, was nice to be on a few!
Brilliant stuff, Jon. A real !asterclass. Thanks👍
Whoops, sorry. Master Class.

Well done pal
Can't believe how good looking all the fish are in that lake
Whole venue has some stunning fish. Wait til you see one of the 7lb+ F1s!
I've had some jon
Last year i had 4 f1s for 28 lb in one net!
Can't believe they get that big
Great fishing Jon. Very informative. Well done with the win.

As always a great video. Greetings from Germany 👍
Thanks for watching Dirk!
Great performance Jon , I think the mink spooked your carp but what a backup plan.
Yes possibly... or I'd just caught too many! ;-)

A new subscriber love the fishing not on long enough. Have seen you at Evesham. Great.
Welcome aboard Sandy!
Always thought crescent was a silvers lake. Fished it a few times and only ever caught silvers. Surprised with the stamp of Carp that's in there. Great vid as always mate.
A guy had two for 24lb yesterday on Crescent and the winner had five for 38lb from the reedy corner peg 4!
Fantastic job, 30lb more than second place, and most of that extra weight caught on maggot in the last hour, by the looks of the video, after you've been steadily feeding that swim up and leaving it alone. That's proper fishing!

Lovely venue isn't it

Ha ha, I definitely have a bit of a varying accent depending on who I mingle with!
Well done jon excellent buddy
Thanks for watching Mike
congrats on a first place amigo! looked blood cold!
Cheers, yep it was a tad cold but I've fished in a LOT worse! :-)
Good day ,winter fishing 😁
Yes it was a lot colder than it looked, 3 degrees absolute tops all day, but a few fish keeps you warm!

Off to a good start Jon,keep them coming mate 👍
Thanks, will try! 👍
Well fished Jon !
Cheers Peter
Great win pal, in some good company that day wasn't you too looking at that leader board! Nice one.
Yep some top Midlands anglers there on the day, so nice to be sat on a few fish!
Fantastic fishing
2022 is for you for a big 1 🐳🍺🤞
Happy new year and fingers crossed you're right! 🐳🍺🤞

Great watch and great result mate. With the dobbing Jon do you fish on the bottom or just keep playing about with depth till you get bites.
Always off the bottom, anything from a few inches to half depth. I tend to find 15 to 24 inches is a good depth up to cover, but you can do it in deeper open swims and I tend to find 6in to a foot off the deck is right in that situation.

Up to and including 10-12 slik goes In the match kits. Heavier than that I only use power kits. 👍
@@JonArthur thanks Jon . I’m doing the same so not off the mark just needed to settle myself
Think your video footage of what your doing with your hands unhooking fish etc etc is great.
How do you mount camera and what camera
Just a couple of GoPros. Check out the Seatbox Setup vid on my channel for attachments etc.
John, do you peg your nets back to stop fish going under the platform ?
Smashed it lad.
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally, ha ha!
What beautiful looking carp Jon. Great result. Different level 😌.... no one even came close 😄
Cheers Ian, was on a nice pocket of fish when the rest of the place switched off a bit. Not often I get that lucky! :-)
@@JonArthur you've never heard of me but I've heard of you.... & it's not because you're lucky 😄
Enjoy the videos Jon,, true all rounder 👍
Great video Jon! 🙌🏻 Did that full moon make you put your welly's on the wrong feet🧐🤪😂 Check out your video at 27:59 to see why I'm asking!!! 😂
That's the age-old Skeetex welly visual trickery! There is no left and right boot, so they always look like they're on the wrong foot! 😂
Awesome :)
Cheers Dave
Should have 50lb you've been round too many of us yam yams lol nice match that Jon what elastic was you using on your silver line?
I used green 8-10 Slik, but maybe 6-8 would have been better on the day. Ok, 50lb and a bit! ;-)
@@JonArthur cheers Jon
Good job you had that £100 bonus, help pay for all that bait you used !!! what weight did the chap in the corner have ?
Ha ha, so expensive that slice of bread! Ben had 38lb for 3rd and 39lb was 2nd off a different lake. Results sheet is at the end of the vid. 👍
@@JonArthur Cheers John, I should get that slice of bread framed !!
Well done worked for that
Thanks John, nice day's fishing!
17th pick from 18... thats definitely something I can relate too 🙄 haha.
It's sometimes advantageous to see where everyone else has drawn before picking your own peg, but it also means all the good 'uns have largely gone!
Do you think that the silly hat, with a pom-pom gave you a distinct fish attracting advantage Jon?? 😨😨 ...❤
Clearly not :-)
well done toprod
Cheers Chris thanks for watching
Thought mink eat carp Jon
They probably do, but that one I saw was just a juvenile. Hopefully no otters about though!
Using match kits john
Only with 10-12 Slik tops. Past that its the power kist for me.
PS.... or maybe you would have won it, if you hadn't worn a silly hat c/w a pom-pom and the fish weren't laughing?? 😨😨
