  • In today's video, we will be trying out something different. We will be running PC VR on laptops that have no dedicated graphics card. We will be running SteamVR on integrated graphics from Intel on these laptops. For these tests, we will be using the Oculus Quest 2 and Virtual Desktop in order to bypass the minimum requirements check. We will also be using AMD's Fidelity FX OpenVR Mod in order to boost our FPS and hopefully get PCVR to run! I hope you enjoy the video :D

    • @ollllj

      all the PCVR-games, that are also made to run on vr headset only, tend to perform better on PCVR without good gpu, because the headset sure does not have a great gpu and those headset-only-games are optimized for the shittier MOBILE-gpu inside the headset. headsets do however have an efficient gpu designed for higher screen resolutions, while your laptop cpu is designed for the lower laptop resolution. HERE the ai-upscaling works best.
      for older pcvr-pc-gaming. just look for games, on the pico+occulus store pages, and care only for those, that also exist on steam. those games have much more compatibility+performance, just for being designed to run on mobile GPUs, that sure are a lot more like integrated gpu chips.

    It took portal 2 down from 60fps when useing byliniar scaleing down to 30fps
    Granted this was going from 16:9 240p to 720p as a scale, if I used 1.5 nearest scale than did the rest with FSR I would have had better FPS be still below 60

    300-500% performance difference is pretty huge IMO.
    Also it seems you tested "low end VR" on a GTX 760 last year which outputs ~2,400 GFLOPS so the latest Intel "Xe G7" iGPUs will likely net you 35% less FPS or lower resolution.

    Just revisiting this. The Android version of slime VR server does not support Auto proportion and the desktop version needs steam vr.
    People can use this to get their proportions then put them in the quest slime server

    I never knew about FSR I'm so glad, I boosted my Vr performance while playing payday 2, my first game ran smoothly but the graphics were not the greatest, hard to see
    But I tweaked my settings and it looked exactly how it should, I'm gonna try FSR and see if it works better

    make sure you change steamvr resolution too along with fsr!

  • @Anthonyg5005
    @Anthonyg5005 2 года назад +1

    I think that the reason the fps didn't change much when you put the resolution higher is because the GPU isn't good at encoding video at a fast framerate so it can't get the full framerate that the computer is rendering. The only way to get the full framerates is by using a steamvr headset or any headset that doesn't use video streaming and connects directly into the computer

  • @twistedlands
    @twistedlands Год назад

    ryzen 3 2200g's vega 8 actually works. it isn't like perfect 90fps 4k or something but you can definetly experience most big pcvr titles like half life alyx and still have fun

    Hello, will the test be a laptop with an integrated Radeon 760M or 780M GPU with Quest 2 connected and a VRChat game running?

  • @Paulie8K
    @Paulie8K 2 года назад

    NIce. I would just play Beat Saber directly on the Quest at that point. I think the tradeoff in quality for super low spec pcvr isn't worth it vs what's available directly on the Quest.

    I have the Surface Book 2 w/ the GTX 1060 since it first came out 3 yrs ago and the Oculus Home PC app always worked fine with it until Oculus decided to put it on their block list :( i had a few Oculus PCVR that worked fine like Robo Recall, SPT, The Unspoken, The blu, Apollo 11 etc. Now I can’t access my PC purchase but thankfully VD can access and play the installed games even when Oculus Home won’t even open. I was also able to finish HL:Alyx on low/medium settings and I’m playing Walking Dead:SS right now and they are very playable still w/ Virtual Desktop on Steam. I hope Oculus hurry up with their Quest Pro w/ higher specs bec I’m past my PC tinkering days now.

    Most people don't know the meaning of minimum graphics to the extreme.
    I run subnautica on a i3 gen 7, 4g ram, laptop
    I managed to play shadow of war on it as well.
    This PC requires work to get running on Minecraft already, but if I die things just right, I can get 60 fps with smooth shading, anti aliasing, etc. I even ran it a little with shaders.
    If you have a terrible computer, and want to play good games. That minimum requirement it says on steam I'd no where near what you can run it on. You dont need a gpu to play games, you only need determination

    • @pajamas720
      @pajamas720 2 года назад

      Same with streaming, the absolute bare minimum needed is a lot less than most people would think. That said if you want an enjoyable experience minimum spec or better is the way to go.

    To answer on vrchat, on an intel core i3, 4gb ram vrchat will run at 15fps set to the lowest modded setting with random freezes and loading any avatar from someone else causes a crash
