Normal is fine, Heroic and legendary are for players who beat the game and know weapon placements, and enemy sequences and spawns. Normal is also great for beginners. Since Odst soldiers in this game are super tanky. So you wont be punished too much when eating damage. Its a fun challenge. I think Rob chose well.
Finally caught up with Rob's journey :) You have come along way, really! Some tips for Rob (spoiler free): 1. Health. Your ODST armor can take a FEW hits (like very weak shields) before shots will start to do health damage. So, when the screen starts to turn red you really want to get behind cover, because finding health stations can get tedious. 2. ODST's melee is lower than a Spartan's, for example an unshielded Brute takes 2 hits to kill. 3. Like Serge said, ODST's are more for covert operations. So stealth is your friend. Large enemy groups has to be picked off one-by-one, but I think you got this one down already. 4. The pistol should really be saved for Grunts/Jackals, or to headshot unarmored Brutes. It does like 0.1% damage to shields on for example Brutes. Serge, have you thought of letting Rob warm up in Firefight? I believe it should not spoil anything and might let him get more familiar with the new mechanics, and try out different weapons in way that wouldn't impede his story progress. You could record it also, if you want. I'm sure people wouldn't mind watching.
@@x2zchat Completely understandable if he doesn't want to. Thanks for considering! Anyway, my argument for trying out Firefight would be that it is more of a sandbox. Ammo and weapons are a non-issue and could be a good learning experience as all you do is fighting. Additionally, when Rob has not played for a while it might help him warm up.
Sorry for long comment, TLDR: I recommend you try Halo Wars if you can. After you guys get through the games on Master Chief Collection and Halo 5, will you be doing Halo Wars 1&2? I know it’s an entirely different genre of video games for Halo but the story has become important for Halo Infinite (Halo 6). If you guys feel you won’t get into it, you guys could check out “game movie” of it on RUclips which shows cutscenes and gameplay (at least segments of it that are important to the plot, like dialogue or just an important event happening). If you guys DO decide to play them, I’d recommend you guys do both tutorials in at least one of the games (they both play similar enough so you really only need to play 2 from one game. That being the “basic tutorial” and the “Advanced Tutorial”. Halo Wars was my introduction to this genre (RTS, aka Real Time Strategy) and at first I wasn’t interested at all in the genre, but Halo Wars changed that and actually got me into it. Plus they just have a good story that I think you 2 would enjoy. Just to give you an idea of when they take place if you don’t know already, Halo Wars 1 released after Halo 3 but before ODST, but takes place 20 years before the original halo trilogy. Halo Wars 2 released after Halo 5 but before Infinite (halo 6) and even takes place between said games. Sorry for long comment, just thought I’d recommend these great games.
Funny you mention this since I had the same idea in mind! Since a certain faction only get introduced in Halo Wars 2, it is kind of a must for understanding what the heck is going on in Infinite. Planning on having Rob try the tutorial to see if he likes it going into Halo Wars 1 & 2 which is going to be right before going into Infinite
"Troopers we are GREEN and very, VERY MEAN!" LETS GOOOOOOOO! EDIT: Rob shouldn't feel bad about playing on Easy. As a 30 year old fan of Halo franchise, its always better to enjoy the game before testing your wits on a harder Difficulty. Though i will say, Serge should let Rob know that Bungie and 343 Industries have said that Heroic Difficulty is the Canon difficulty to experience Halo but not recommended for first timers.
Playing it in the right order is best even if they game let's you do otherwise.
That remember Reach hit hard
Oh man, Rob has no idea how hard that phrase will hit later on...

Honestly Easy feels more like the difficulty for people that have never held a controller/played a videogame. Normal is pretty easy on its own.

Great tips! Agree with all of these. Firefight might be a fun idea, will ask Rob but I am guessing he will want to power through the main story

Agreed, Rob decided to start on Normal, but no shame if he decides to play on Easy!
We're dropping into Hell trooper, time to grow a pair
