we are seeing history repeat itself, a manager comes in and changes things enough to do well for a season or 2. Then they struggle to get results. Other teams figure out what they are doing, the manager gets sacked before they can fix the issues which would bring the team to another level, where they are capable of dealing with all the different tactical exploits they might come up against. New manager, back to square one, 2+ more years that were a total waste of time and money. It might be bad but overall its been better than last season and these games are where you learn the most. Staying with a manager is the best chance of avoiding the continued cycle of failure.

Like Maresca, slot, flick, Kompany, Ange, Emery, Motta etc.
They seem to be capable of coaching their teams quicker than three seasons.

@Doctor_Kroom None of them have been at the club long enough to really judge them, just because they are doing well now doesnt automatically mean that will continue. My point was the first season usually goes well, teams don't know how to deal with them. Pep wasn't instantly doing well with city, arteta wasn't instantly doing well with arsenal. It's easier to take over a club that has been making good decisions than it is to take over united.

Awesome video, and such clear analysis of our problems. I also think Rashford’s indifference on that first goal was not acceptable. It was almost as if every player was waiting for the guy behind them to take care of Van de Ven, until he got in front of Onana, haha.
I would still love it if Ten Hag turned this around. I would say if he is out of the Europa League he needs to go. If he wins the Europa League, that’s equivalent to a top 4 finish, even if we are mid table in the league.
Unfortunately, I have a feeling that we had a terrible transfer window where we bought only average players (with the exception of Yoro, maybe), who haven’t greatly improved on what we had. Zirkzee replaced Martial, but when Martial was fit and in form, he was 3x the player Zirkzee is, in my opinion. De Ligt is not the answer for CB, Mazraoui is ok but is pretty much at full potential, and Ugarte is maybe a slight improvement on Fred/McT, but not even close to the level of a Carrick in that position.
So I don’t see us getting out of the mid table Friendzone any time soon.

I agree. In principle, I don't mind the tactics. But with any press formation, the players have to run hard. Our guys barely get out of first gear. The lack of effort is a disgrace. Neville said pub football. I think that's unkind to pub footballers. Cheers

Willy Kambwala was the fastest CB at the club, perfect for playing a high line with his great recovery pace. We sold him and kept the slowest ones and bought another slow CB. This is why we can't play with a high line, leading to an ineffective press. Once again I blame Erik for disposing of the wrong youth players.

The INEOS can see that the tactics are there but the players often miss the press time and traps how often has Fernandez in particular been cut off the press secondly united bought a sweeper keeper in Onana but yet the defense line doesn't push high up enough to back up the press this often causes Martinez to be by passed easily in the press these current players at the club lack concentration the first goal against Tottenham was because Dalot started tracking then stopped at the crucial time it's unacceptable it's not entirely the Manager's fault though he has he's own lapses

The system didn’t help as in it made life very tough on the midfielders, it’s not inherently wrong but it’s extremely demanding on them both physically and mentally.
And the lack of intensity in the whole team was shocking. We bought Ugarte as a watchdog who basically lives to tackle and he just watches van de Ven pass him as the freight train passes small rural stations. If anyone ever commits a professional foul, that’s Ugarte in this situation. I’m not slating him personally because everyone else did the same, it’s a symptom and not the disease itself. The front line didn’t help either, horrendous pressing effort. I caught a glimpse of ETH shaking his head in disbelief as he was watching.
Maybe it’s a case of being too tactical and over complicating things, I don’t know, but this was absurd.
