To realise not even 10% of the price go to the manufacturer, to the workers, smh. I don't mind the price if it is paying the employees a good portion as compared to the profit they are making. Apple is currently the company with highest "worth", due to this very reason, it's just bad. Because employees salaries workers salary are nothing more than just cost, a number on the sheet.

Here in Germany, I haven't seen any advertisement as well. At the moment I'm still using my Huawei P10 Plus but soon I'll change too Xiaomi, just for the better price and specs, compared to other smartphones. I also work in the Network Marketing section and can tell you the same as many did before me: good products only neet people who like them and share their experience with friends. So the company can spend their money for new inventions, better components or can provide better quality over all, instead of wasting billions of euros (or whatever currency it is) for ads.

I have bought their robot vacuum, home cameras, yee night light, dashcam, diffuser, mosquito repellant, gas detector, smoke detector, mop and broom. Has 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with a 12+12 MP dual camera and 20MP front camera with AI. 3400mAh battery with fast charge and I mean fast charge lol and the screen is 6.21 inch amoled... All that for 400 quid compared to other mainstream device brands ?? Is an absolute bargain. The only two things it doesn't have is Wireless charging and waterproofing. What differentiates Xiaomi from other Smartphone makers is that the Smartphone market is only a small part of their buisness.
I mean, they are also famous for their fitnesstrackers, robot vacuum cleaners hair dryers.....
All of these products are hightech, really well made and you can get them for a reasonable price. Also, the designs of their products always look so clean and futuristic.
As an European, I was sceptical about buying a smartphone from a Chinese brand first (because in my country Chinese products have always been associated with poor quality), but after I purchased my Mi band as well as my robot vacuum cleaner, I was blown away about the brand. Currently, I am using the Xiaomi Mi9 as my smartphone and I love it.
You do not need extra advertising if you can establish a good reputation just because of the quality of your products!

Yes you can remove the bloatware. its as easy as selecting uninstall. However, if you give the stock apps a chance you will quickly find that they are often far superior to what you currently use. Apps such as, Dialer, contacts, calendar. Even the Miui cloud syncing is such a great tool. With Google you can restore apps, contacts, appointments etc. With Miui you can restore those things plus your on device files such as Music, backgrounds, launcher themes, and all of your preferred settings. Next time, when considering a phone give Xiaomi a chance. You will not be disappointed, they are excellent phones, with top of the line hardware, and are aesthetically very pleasing.

European or Oceania market rule of thumb.
1)Invest in R&D. We don't want iOS knock offs.
2)We hate bloatware so only pre-install necessary ones.
3)Make a better rounded phone with a good after sales, not a cheapo buy and burn phone. Good hardware has to go with good software and integration between the two is key.
4)Prioritise your on core smartphone functions and not gaming like you do in Asian markets.
5)Offer quick updates as well as monthly security patches. This is important especially for people who work in the business or government sector where confidentiality is important.
There are other thing I'd like to mention but they're pretty subjective.

(Before, I also had Samsung Note 4). Now my phone is 3 years old! Mom's Xiaomi also still alive! After 3 years of daily usage I can tell you, I can see the only difference is, in low light, picture quality not so good like Samsung. That's it! Battery life is still good. Works well on Canadian networks! 🍁 👍
