I met a fly fisherman today at sportsmans warehouse that was gearing up to try "regular" fishing after talking for a few minutes and helping him pick some gear, he asked me what is the best way to fish. My answer was whatever is the best way that works for you. There is more than one way to catch fish. At my local lake, sometimes the trout bite on power eggs, sometimes on worms, and sometimes on roostertail spinners. Saying bait is cheating is only limiting yourself to not get bites on days that they just wont bite on artificial gear.
