  • Since 2016 I am restoring very old wooden Dragon sailboat. This video shows another small part of the ongoing restoration process: A custom designed sliding hatch with special features.
As in my other videos: This is no instructional video, just footage of how I did things.
Thanks Karl Gröne of groenemetall.de for making the brass parts. Background music Lonely Troutman 2 by Will Rosati.

Thank you very much for your videos. You don't want to be a building manual, but you are in reality. There are people who want to be a role model through their formal position, but you are a role model through your actions. You don't talk, you do it and you do it in an impressive way and have practical solutions to problems that I would never have thought of. I want to restore a 20 cc dinghy cruiser built of oak professionally, all friends said "keep your hands off it", but I "fell in love" with this boat, watched many videos, but yours are just priceless. A lot of suggestions, more exciting than any crime thriller on TV, top craftsmanship! Thanks for your tips! And have fun with your Dragon!

Thank you. The boat and myself are attending German Classics Laboe, a regatta for classical sailboats. That‘s where I just read your comment. Good luck and success with your project. After falling in love with an old boat the secret to a happy end is going the distance

Thank you for the bland words. On top of a very small and low cabin I wanted it to be that way.

    Very very nice,
Wish I could afford the hatch 😁
