The whole way through from the time you bought Tally Ho Leo, your team has been an amazing collection of extremely skilled artisans. Along with yourself of course, no yacht built in recent times has been built with such craftsmanship, care and indeed love for their project. Kia Kaha from New Zealand to all involved in the build.
Everyone working on Tally Ho seems to find satisfaction in doing a job really well, rather than as quickly and cheaply as possible for maximum reward, as in much of contemporary life. That is true craftsmanship.
‘ A thing of beauty is a joy for ever: Its loveliness increases; it will never Pass into nothingness; but still will keep A bower quiet for us, and a sleep Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing . .’
Years of experience and knowledge are evident in Pat's building of the hatch. A pleasure to watch and my compliments to all involved in this amazing project.
Leo, I am completely amazed at how much money you have tied up in support equipment. Desks, work benches, tables, cabinets, bandsaws, tablesaws, planers, temporary decking around Tally Ho, and all the tools that you need to support your operation. It is a shame that you are not going to build another boat because you have everything any ship builder would need. It makes me sad to think that when Tally Ho is finished your collection of tools will be set adrift to the four winds. I hope they will find useful and caring homes to go to as well as you being able to recoup some of the money you have invested in them, cheers.
I recently sold my house & moved to a flat - sold my dad's woodworking tools to 'good homes' for nominal money. Kept a few hand tools, the palm sander & battery drill, but all his good equipments went to folks who will use them & hopefully they'll pay it forward in their turn.
It’s fantastic to watch people who are masters of their trade producing beautifully finished pieces, it is truly art! Tally ho will look amazing when she finally comes together in the end. I look forward to seeing the rudder!

8' x 4' is 4,608 square inches; once the vacuum is created you'll have 10 pounds of perfectly even pressure on every square inch - including any tricky-to-hold curved egdes - so the entire job would be under more than 46,000 pounds of clamping force.😳

Leo is there any chance you will make Tally Ho or Sampson Boat Co merch? I’m sure I speak for many other supporters when I say I would love to rep it!
Man i found Leo when he uploaded the video of him building the old boat shed alone. Such an amazing journey so far. Some of best content ive seen from ANY media. Just wish it to keep growing millions of ppl need to watch this. The quality of work is just mind blowing. As a carpenter myself i tip my hat to Leo and the crew.
Need to get more kids in boatyards and more tools in more hands. I don't think schools even have woodshop anymore. Lawyers...meh.
That companionway hatch housing is incredibly beautiful it's a piece of furniture. Well done.
The best background music. Since the beginning.
The deck house is a piece of fine furniture. The level of craftsmanship throughout this build has been outstanding!
Leo, I'll bet walking in and turning the light on Tally Ho was like seeing a lover after being away. Must have made your heart soar.
Wow. 7 years of complete awe. Thank you so much for the stunning inspiration!
The hatch is truly beautiful woodwork. Pat is a master at his craft.
Excellent craftsmanship to say the lest. Glad your back.
Somehow this video has a quality of a movie. Tiny teeny stories, comedy, froshadowing, formal fun with transitions oh so cool.
Great video Leo, the deck house looks amazing. Good to see you got your visa sorted out again.
‘ A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing . .’
What a beautiful yacht you’ve rebuilt!
That companionway hatch is an absolute piece of art. Well done Pat
Glad you got your visa sorted, I've heard some nightmare stories regarding visas and was worried.
That shop opening montage felt good
The quality of workmanship is outstanding!
LEO OVER THE YEARS YOU HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO HAVE SOME OF THE BEST SHIP RIGHTS WORK WITH YOU ON THIS GREAT RE BUILD. GLAD THAT YOU GOT A NEW VISA.
Wright on......
Happy to see you back and for the update of the Pat and Patty crew LOL. She is looking really good, your SR's are doing a fantastic job.
Years of experience and knowledge are evident in Pat's building of the hatch. A pleasure to watch and my compliments to all involved in this amazing project.
Craftmanship of the highest order, as usual, and great little comedy bits too. I'm still fascinated by all the work on Tally Ho.
Wonderful workers and volunteers, and I'm so impressed with Paddy's time-and-motion business efficiency study, and tool design!
Companionway hatch is gorgeous.
one more Pat and you've got yourself a Pat trick
Well done to all the crew. The woodwork looks great. That's another few steps to going sailing; something to keep in mind. SAILING!
I've never seen teak have that distinct looking grain. Such a great wood. Good job guys
It’s fantastic to watch people who are masters of their trade producing beautifully finished pieces, it is truly art! Tally ho will look amazing when she finally comes together in the end. I look forward to seeing the rudder!
Amazing job crew, keep up the great work!
Leo, Beautiful joinery, good material, and great craftsmanship. A true pleasure and joy to watch. Thank you for the video.
I'm sure Pancho will be pleased with the perch progress. Welcome back, Leo. Hatch looks amazing!
This series should be required watching for pretty much all apprentices working in the marine industry and with wood generally.
