I’ve got a mini-farm/garden in my backyard. I work at a gas station and see almost no way I’ll ever be able to scale my farm up. I have chickens, a pig, and plenty of garden on my 3/4 acre. I know a lot of older farmers are stuck because no1 who wants to farm has the money to buy into one. Is there some program to facilitate this. I’m not looking for +100 acres. 10-15 is what I think I’d need. I’m so lost. I’ve looked and can’t find anything that I can even start to afford on my own. I don’t have family and neither does my wife. I like my son out in the yard playing with the dog while I’m sowing carrots. I’d like to do it as my full time job, but there is no entry.

Actually if you move over your essentials first and live in the cabin while purging. You'll have half the battle won. If you need something from the Holler house go get it and bring it back to the cabin. At the end of 30 days you'll have less stuff to go through. 😉 Or some variation of the above. Are you getting containers to put all your tools and equipment in that you'll need to just work day to day? You havento be ablento find things, which I know is a challenge even now.

Do you spend time with the LORD Jesus Christ in the morning? Something more than a 10 second prayer. Read a chapter or at least a portion of a chapter (Gospels are great. It's all great). You will be amazed at how smoothly your day will go and how much more you will get done. He is calling you. Starting our day without Him is just a mess. Has taken me years to learn this. Truly, truly, seek Him first and let Him guide you as to what needs to be done first, second, etc. Trust me.

Moving across the street is the same as what I did moving next door. WORST MOVE OF MY LIFE! It took forever because I didn’t pack everything up like I normally did. A piece of advice…. Pack up and move just like you would if you were moving across town. 😉

The remodel will be stressful all the way around until it's done. . . from the packing, setting up the new house, to the adjustment to new living arrangements, etc. Been there done that. We gutted our very small kitchen with no new rearranging and it took three months with no hold ups due to any construction issues. We were without a kitchen sink and water in the kitchen for two weeks. We had a plan and dealt with it. You have to set up a plan for packing and in doing the packing gradually you will decide what goes and what stays. What can you live without that you might have bought to solve a temporary problem. Have your kids pack their room under your supervision so that things that are no longer used by them can be given away. A we were told, you can talk the talk but walking the walk will get it done. It ain't fun but worth it in the end. JGiles

Be cautious about attaining the habits of a cancer cell - growth for its own sake. That is the approach our city takes and it has really caused problems.

Close moves are sometimes harder than far away, just cause you will be doing the box moving yourself…not movers…. But, to start decluttering and organizing as you pack ….will help lessen the stress and will feel good!

Moving is pure hell. Get help! Ask Grandma for suggestions!
Get a couple of PODS or a couple of shipping containers for this year of transition!
I always needed a vacation from my vacations! Oh the prep done to leave and make memories for the children! When you get much older, you will see why these vacations are so important for the family.
Justin, you and Rebecca and the whole team are amazing.

You talk about doing a vlog when you have boring stuff to do like fix a hose, then it's the wood chips, then its the furnace, etc, etc, etc. BUT. This is real farm life. Real homestead life. Everyday. Stuff happens and if you're not expecting it, it in itself becomes stressful and overwhelming. This is good stuff to see and also how you fix it. Maybe the new homesteader isn't used to fixing things every day, sometimes all day. This sets the right expectations. Thank you for showing this. And Lily will be a force to be reckoned with when she's older because she is learning that you need to keep on top of chores. Love your kids and how you are raising them. They ALL know what responsibility is, even "Mr. Brown" even if he tries to look the other way, responsibility is everywhere.
