Once you declutter, containers can have a purpose to keep like things together. Label it. Just don't use them to throw any junk in - keep them organized. Everything should go on its shelf or in its labeled container. Large shelves with no containers can get crazy. With all those kids and necessary equipment, I think that properly utilized containers can be essential for staying organized.

    • @suzannefronzaglio2427
      @suzannefronzaglio2427 Год назад +11

Yeah, I wouldn't get rid of any of those nice containers. You'll always find new uses for them. She can use those in her root cellar, for her canning supplies (lids, rings, etc.). I every once in awhile "purge" my cosmetics, bathroom products (conditioners, sprays, lotions, nail polish, etc.) and downsize to smaller containers, or find different and new uses for the bigger containers/totes. I even have put some small gray plastic containers on my husband's workbench downstairs. He throws small odds and ends in one, and it's a cool way for him to use to put the few tools, screws, etc. he may need when he's fixing something around the house. Then he can carry it all back downstairs when he gets done with the small project.

I started my declutter in 2020 during lockdown. Was amazing how much I cleared out. My bedroom has been my biggest success. Clothes are still all folded and neat, even according to colour. maintaining the space now is so easy. Since the initial declutter I’ve done 2 more, I’m definitely a fan of minimalist. I have a rule that if something comes into the house then something goes out. I like containers, they’re useful in keeping same items together especially for kids.

Hey Justin and Rebecca, Seeing all of the fridges and freezers, WOW, your electric bill must be enormous? May I make a suggestion. Maybe in the room you have them all in ir somewhere handy to where you need them, why not build a walk in freezer and a walk in cooler, then sell all of those freezers and fridges. Walk in coolers and freezers you could use the chrome metal shelving inside of the Walk In Freezer and Walk In Cooler. Maybe just turn the area you have all of them in, into a cold cellar with the Walk In Freezer and Walk In Cooler built into the Cold Cellar. The whole area being a true cold cellar 24/7/365, with the Walk In Freezer and Cooler built seperately, but in the same room. Having them built into the natural earth Cold Room would keep the cost of electricity down as well because the Walk In's wouldn't need to work as long and as often to keep things at a set temperature.

My husband and I spent months before we moved decluttering our house. We made a good team. Which surprised us both. He felt like I was getting rid of too much and would regret it, but no regrets. As a family, we went through family things like board games, and movies. I was pleasantly surprised my teens wanted to keep most of the games, we even started back up our game night after we moved. My husband even helped my with my personal belongings, like makeup, shoes and purses. He was really supportive, especially if I got emotional over something sentimental. We had yard sales and made decent money. We have a storage unit to purge when it's warmer and we don't dread it at all. It was a lot of work but so rewarding. The journey was game changing. We are currently shopping around to refurnish our whole house with what we love. It's been a good experience and will allow for us to really feel at home. I think it is healthy to have it be a family process. It makes the kids appreciate things, the adults compromise and see what's important to one another and then together you all make a house a home. Good luck with everything on this next chapter. PS Suggestion- keep storage containers, they're expensive to replace. Plus, if labelled they will become the home of your items so you always know where to find it and even the kids will know where to put them back.

How moving can be good. Peel the onion!
When we moved from the family homestead where we had lived for 22 years, oh the layers that were revealed in the basement storage shelves. My mom had grown up during the depression where everything was saved.
I've moved many many times, I feel good with a deep purge.
    Carry on
Paint those canvases white for another session.

Question: what about children’s art that they want to have later on in life as a saved memory to show their children?
Just as Rebekah was saving an art piece she made as an adult and had the good feelings of making the piece with the memories of it, I thought about how children have those same feelings and memories. Is it wise as an adult to discredit their feelings of their art and throw them out when we affirm our adult feelings of our art and keep them?
I am 62 years old and have no memories of my childhood except heartbreaking moments where my existence wasn’t validated. I don’t remember one hug, or I love you, or a book read to me. I have no remnants of my childhood to reminisce or leave behind. I’ve always heard how patchwork blankets were made in a way that told of family stories, containing patch pieces of clothing wore to go with the story and were passed down to the next generations. I have none of these nor do i know my families story. It always feels like an empty place within with no memory or story to think upon.
Please, regard and respect the children’s feelings about their art work as you do your own while throwing their masterpieces away. Blessings.

May Jésus-Christ 's love heal your heart and give you what your heart desires. I pray that what can come back to your memory , from your past, come back in à surnatural way.
      God can do it.
      Blessings !!!

It was so fun watching you organize and get ready to move. As a organized crazed woman I organize unknowingly everyday, everything in its place makes me happy !
    Great job Rebecca !

Darci is a true friend. I’ve decluttered at least 85% of our stuff, empty nesting.

I went to help sister pack up her house after living there for 40 yrs. In one house. OMG it took us right up to the moving day to decluttering and we did the keep - never touched- donate- and well??? She even had old electric bills. BUT we found lots of beautiful pictures too. Was a walk through our history. Now that she is here back home (moved back to our birth city) she is still kinda of decluttering. Good luck.
