This has only begun and I'm already thinking " Justin is all for decluttering the house... But I'd like to see what happens if they go after the tool/outbuilding inventory!
Once you declutter, containers can have a purpose to keep like things together. Label it. Just don't use them to throw any junk in - keep them organized. Everything should go on its shelf or in its labeled container. Large shelves with no containers can get crazy. With all those kids and necessary equipment, I think that properly utilized containers can be essential for staying organized.
Yeah, I wouldn't get rid of any of those nice containers. You'll always find new uses for them. She can use those in her root cellar, for her canning supplies (lids, rings, etc.). I every once in awhile "purge" my cosmetics, bathroom products (conditioners, sprays, lotions, nail polish, etc.) and downsize to smaller containers, or find different and new uses for the bigger containers/totes. I even have put some small gray plastic containers on my husband's workbench downstairs. He throws small odds and ends in one, and it's a cool way for him to use to put the few tools, screws, etc. he may need when he's fixing something around the house. Then he can carry it all back downstairs when he gets done with the small project.
I think it's a preference... I love to have similar items in containers. It would make me crazy to have everything sitting on a shelf. I think you can be a minimalist and still utilize containers.
As someone who LOVES cleaning and organizing and helping others do the same, this video is amazing!!! I am heading to my Mother in Law's today to do just this!
Don't be embarrassed......we all need to declutter our lives of the unnecessary and the distractions that keep us from being who God wants....Your effort and determination is very inspiring.....We all need people like Darcy to help us.
Love her laugh when she realizes Darcey is right. Getting started on de-cluttering can be overwhelming. But BOY do you feel better when everything is clean. Great job you all.
“I’ve spent the last 20 years decluttering my husband.” Made me chuckle. I can so relate! 18 years ago I married a single father of five and I’m still working on it 😉.
Rebekah, you and Darci worked your butts off. The place looks amazing!!! It's hard keeping every thing organized, and to a minimum. You've inspired me to be more minimalistic.
I love see Rebekah! Even if she forgot to film things it is nice to see what she does in a day. Purging and getting rid of is such a great feeling. We did similar to what you are doing now. Moved into a small space for a year threw out things we didn't need had a storage shed for other items. After a year when we moved items out of the storage shed we threw out even more!
Friendship and laughter sure helped the process of reflection and release. Families can really generate STUFF -- and it's not terrible. We're all due for a good cleanup every now and then.
It's wonderful to be able to declutter! Knowing some things can be set aside for different types of storage gives you permission to get rid of it later or have a ready spot for it at another time. Moving is SO MUCH easier when you clear out the extra stuff.
Moving really does help to eliminate clutter and it definitely helps to have someone who isn't attached to any of it tell you what to keep and what to throw away. Great job, Darci!
I am literally watching , pausing, and then going through my stuff, come back and watch, pause and return to my sorting and throwing away... amazing the motivation it's given me to do what I've put off. Thanks for sharing and motivating!
Where do you start?? I came to the comments hoping someone would lay out Darci's rules or framework -- I think it's kind of Konmari mixed with just professional inventory keeping (back stock) -- where things alike are kept together and such ... Any tips??
Loved this episode! Have never heard Becky laugh so much in a video. This is defiantly a feel good video. I'm trying to declutter my home and this video was inspiring.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS VIDEO...you are not alone!! I'm excited to see this in the long term. That is my struggle. I've done really well in the beginning, but then I want to repurpose everything and THAT is my struggle. THANK YOU FOR THE INSPIRATION!! I think once your build is done and you're settled in. This could be an annual purge!! I know you got my fire lit!! I would love the encouragement!!
I am the same way! What can this be used for, oh, I can put a plant in it! I am down to 4 rooms to declutter, eliminate and clean in the home remodel. I hate living with all the stuff and it is overwhelming. Not to mention it can be a fall hazard when you get old. At 68 I must be careful and I am ready to be free!
the more storage I created, the more stuff I kept, after all, I had all that space, all that room. One day I heard The Minimal Mom on RUclips. She asked: how much stuff do you want to manage? that did it for me. to this day I hear the word 'manage' and decide that I do not want to manage more of anything. It really is that one word for me: MANAGE. Darcie is a wonderful help to you, congratulation.
Proud of you weeding out the old. Keep all your books and create a library space for the kids. It's so nice of Darcy to help you. She has you laughing your way thru it. And you look really happy while working
Oh heck no!!! Canvases going in the dumpster lost me! As an art teacher I am constantly watching thrift stores for used canvases, they can be painted over and reused. Always donate before dumpsters!!
Those clear containers, don't throw them away, they're great for keeping frost off of your plants! If you don't want them, just send them all to me! Lol seriously I'd take them all. Along with your shelving units that you don't want. Love y'all! Been watching you all for years! Since before the bus! Idk how many years that is, but y'all are like the best RUclipsrs! I've learned sooo much!!! Thank you for that! And for making us, your audience, a part of your life, thank you!
I’m so jealous. Darci Isabella is one of my favorites. I was so excited when they moved to FL. I was hoping to talk her into helping me declutter. I had planned to contact her about it, but I’ve been so preoccupied with our youngest daughter as she goes through cancer treatment. But when she gets better I’m going to be begging her for help!
I've been a minimalist since 2006 and always love seeing how different each one of us is with how we clean or sort things, but I LOVE seeing the progress you have made through the help of Darcy. HEHE. You really did have a LOT of stuff!!! What amazingness that you got rid of SO many things. Way more than a lot of people who fully declutter the first time.
I'm not a total minimalist but I don't have any clutter in my house either so I found this video too much to watch all the way through. Well done to both of them they did a great.
I've decluttered with my wife for so many moon rises I have mastered ability to read the first sign of facial twitching and eyeball rolling as a precursor to something bads gunna happen and that the silent frozen wide eyed death stare is tme for a hasty retreat to my garage. Great job Rebekah.
THANK YOU!!! I didn't know there was such a thing as a storage container hoarder. THAT"S ME lol. Bless our hearts. I love mine too! SO you inspired me today. I destroyed my closet! Took it ALL our and tossed and piled and then put back ONLY what is necessary. SO much happier. I am following your minimalist journey Rebecca!!! Bravo. You Go Girl!!!!!!! So excited for your new homestead home for you and your sweet family
Rebecca’s containers totally get because I watched get organized by using containers yup just another catch all🤣🤣🤣. We had many photos so we scanned each one (a long task) now on a hard drive backup. We downsized from Alberta to Ontario 10 years later when retired to Mexico we still had boxes from our Alberta move😂😂😂it’s hard but so worth it, congrats on how well and hard it’s going 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Thanks again for sharing your time, thoughts and family with us it’s absolutely educational and real life it’s such a teaching moment for everyone who struggles,it really is helping so many people across the world. Thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm so impressed with how you are letting go of "stuff" Rebekah! Darci is a Godsend! I think you might be having more trouble letting go of the containers than the "stuff". I like it! It's very inspiring! Love this! Thanks for this video Rhodes family!
This was outstanding! I think decluttering is essential for calmness and clarity. You guys are going to be so happy you did it! Darci is AMAZING at motivating and encouraging - so glad she was able to help you. Enjoy your new lower-maintenance daily routine!!
When we sold my last home we downed sized a from 2200 to 1300 square feet. The way I went thru my stuff was 2 things the number 1 was does this make me happy if it did it came with me. Number 2 has this item been not worn or used in 2 years if not it was gone. I lost weight and had gotten rid of my smaller clothes but its ok.
Decluttering while packing what a great idea. It's been three years since I did the whole house, ours was as cluttered as yours. We moved last year and in a few weeks I've planned to declutter again. So nice to have 'expert' help. Her videos really helped me too. So inspiring.
I love that beginning was actually the decluttering because I love when the title is what the whole video is about or at least most of it, I wouldnt have cared if this video was an hour, it would be awesome to watch!! God Bless Yall
I started my declutter in 2020 during lockdown. Was amazing how much I cleared out. My bedroom has been my biggest success. Clothes are still all folded and neat, even according to colour. maintaining the space now is so easy. Since the initial declutter I’ve done 2 more, I’m definitely a fan of minimalist. I have a rule that if something comes into the house then something goes out. I like containers, they’re useful in keeping same items together especially for kids.
Do that now in preparation for moving. This house has my stuff, my parent's stuff, and my grandparent's stuff! There's even a few great-grandparent's things. It's harder than just deciding 'I want/need this' when it's family stuff. Thank goodness my sister is willing to come and help. Don't envy you guys a bit. Good luck.
Y'all could use extra containers to make worm bins, spawn fish for your ponds, trays for seed starts, a mobile sump for priming pumps in the field, etc. Lots of ways to make them useful. Otherwise give them away, Justin knows how long plastic takes to degrade.
Wow what an incredible friend! Being able to accomplish so much in 4 days is awesome. I don't think storage containers are the villains. They keep the stuff from being spread out everywhere! The big trick is to have time to go back & get rid of things. Good Job Ya'll!💗
Whew! I'm exhausted just watching all that decluttering! Darci reminds me so much of my oldest daughter "put that down Momma...that is nothing but a dust collector" (when shopping in a store). I'm hoping this will inspire me to go find a room to declutter (many to choose from). Loved this video!
Love this so much. Declutter like a MOTHER. Good book. Also, you’ll never go back. It literally literally relieves SO much anxiety. Clear space, clear mind. Good for you!!!!!
Cleaning out is very cleansing. I have cleaned out and found things I didn't remember I had. My husband has multiples of stuff. He has a harder time letting go. Beautiful one, get rid of those containers. Breath in with the good, breath out with the bad. Good job. 👍
Everyone is different, some need containers others don’t. It’s true that some containers are just trash storage but some are very useful. Good job for you and have fun decluttering. It’s true , it’s peaceful when its de cluttered
This was a great video! I laughed out loud several times. I’m sure I speak for many when I say we would LOVE to see more content from Darci and you too Rebekah ❤
I love this. I have moved a few times. Just trying to get two house holds together. We were widowed and married 8 years ago. I want to be a minimalist. Bec you can do this. Life is less stressful when things are gone. Proud of you.
Hey Justin and Rebecca, Seeing all of the fridges and freezers, WOW, your electric bill must be enormous? May I make a suggestion. Maybe in the room you have them all in ir somewhere handy to where you need them, why not build a walk in freezer and a walk in cooler, then sell all of those freezers and fridges. Walk in coolers and freezers you could use the chrome metal shelving inside of the Walk In Freezer and Walk In Cooler. Maybe just turn the area you have all of them in, into a cold cellar with the Walk In Freezer and Walk In Cooler built into the Cold Cellar. The whole area being a true cold cellar 24/7/365, with the Walk In Freezer and Cooler built seperately, but in the same room. Having them built into the natural earth Cold Room would keep the cost of electricity down as well because the Walk In's wouldn't need to work as long and as often to keep things at a set temperature.
Fifteen years before retirement, we took our career knowledge and headed for the mission field. We sold our retirement home and auctioned off almost everything. We lived out of our suitcases those 15 years and would do it all over again. Too bad our retirement years are starting to collect things again. 😂 It's the American way. Kudos to Darci!!
Rebekah looks so good and full of energy! I love seeing it!! And it must be so refreshing to declutter everything~ decluttering is also something that you can-not-do-alone. Declutter always with someone~ proud of you Rebekah!
My husband and I spent months before we moved decluttering our house. We made a good team. Which surprised us both. He felt like I was getting rid of too much and would regret it, but no regrets. As a family, we went through family things like board games, and movies. I was pleasantly surprised my teens wanted to keep most of the games, we even started back up our game night after we moved. My husband even helped my with my personal belongings, like makeup, shoes and purses. He was really supportive, especially if I got emotional over something sentimental. We had yard sales and made decent money. We have a storage unit to purge when it's warmer and we don't dread it at all. It was a lot of work but so rewarding. The journey was game changing. We are currently shopping around to refurnish our whole house with what we love. It's been a good experience and will allow for us to really feel at home. I think it is healthy to have it be a family process. It makes the kids appreciate things, the adults compromise and see what's important to one another and then together you all make a house a home. Good luck with everything on this next chapter. PS Suggestion- keep storage containers, they're expensive to replace. Plus, if labelled they will become the home of your items so you always know where to find it and even the kids will know where to put them back.
How moving can be good. Peel the onion! When we moved from the family homestead where we had lived for 22 years, oh the layers that were revealed in the basement storage shelves. My mom had grown up during the depression where everything was saved. I've moved many many times, I feel good with a deep purge. Carry on Paint those canvases white for another session.
You are doing so well . Honestly, that is no easy task . It looks overwhelming, but Darci is really encouraging and organised. Great help. Great team work of all the family. I am impressed how much staff you shifted , and still smiling 😊👍
Question: what about children’s art that they want to have later on in life as a saved memory to show their children? Just as Rebekah was saving an art piece she made as an adult and had the good feelings of making the piece with the memories of it, I thought about how children have those same feelings and memories. Is it wise as an adult to discredit their feelings of their art and throw them out when we affirm our adult feelings of our art and keep them? I am 62 years old and have no memories of my childhood except heartbreaking moments where my existence wasn’t validated. I don’t remember one hug, or I love you, or a book read to me. I have no remnants of my childhood to reminisce or leave behind. I’ve always heard how patchwork blankets were made in a way that told of family stories, containing patch pieces of clothing wore to go with the story and were passed down to the next generations. I have none of these nor do i know my families story. It always feels like an empty place within with no memory or story to think upon. Please, regard and respect the children’s feelings about their art work as you do your own while throwing their masterpieces away. Blessings.
May Jésus-Christ 's love heal your heart and give you what your heart desires. I pray that what can come back to your memory , from your past, come back in à surnatural way. God can do it. Blessings !!!
It was so fun watching you organize and get ready to move. As a organized crazed woman I organize unknowingly everyday, everything in its place makes me happy ! Great job Rebecca !
I went to help sister pack up her house after living there for 40 yrs. In one house. OMG it took us right up to the moving day to decluttering and we did the keep - never touched- donate- and well??? She even had old electric bills. BUT we found lots of beautiful pictures too. Was a walk through our history. Now that she is here back home (moved back to our birth city) she is still kinda of decluttering. Good luck.
This has only begun and I'm already thinking " Justin is all for decluttering the house... But I'd like to see what happens if they go after the tool/outbuilding inventory!
My first thought as well. Start with his cupboard to the left when you first come in the door to the house. Ha ha. Can't wait.
Amen!!! The men are always ready for the home things to disappear, but those tools are different they say. I call it hypocrisy.
My husband says this often- he’s afraid of that too!!!
👍🏻💙🦋
Everyone needs a friend like Darcey.
Always easier to help get rid of stuff when it's not your stuff. Always good idea to have help.
How are you doing?
Oh my. Goodness. Please. Keep showing decluttering of 22 years of stuff! I am getting so inspired!
How are you doing?
So glad to see Darci on your channel! She’s the best. What a sweet friendship you have! The progress looks great. 💛💛
Good day
How are you doing ? 😊
It’s fascinating to see Rebekah get so into something that she was so anxious about 👏👏👏

Plant covers for these wacky up and down weather! Perfect for keeping frost off of the plants!

"Konmari," has been a blessing in my life! Letting go of unnecessary items is so, therapeutic!
Good day
How are you doing? 😊
Proud of you for paring down! I learned to live minimally after my house flooded. Sometimes it takes a life upheaval to get your priorities straight.
Loved this episode! Have never heard Becky laugh so much in a video. This is defiantly a feel good video. I'm trying to declutter my home and this video was inspiring.

So glad Darci is with you!!! She really is the best at decluttering!!
This was so inspiring! I wish I had a helper to come help me organize and purg! I love seeing the before and afters!
I'm taking this as a sign to start my spring cleaning this weekend. getting rid of stuff I don't use or I don't need
On one of the days you Rebecca said that your feet were hurting, I am only watching you guys and my brain is hurting, you are doing so good.

I just loved this video! Thanks for being vulnerable & showing this! I love organization and de-cluttering and love seeing this!
My friend says if you haven't used it or touched in a year throw it out, or give it away.. No more clutter.. Way to go! Clean it out...❤️

Rebecca is a Hoarder! My sweetheart was a hoarder. It’s nice she has a friend to help her with this. Hope she will pull through 😉
It’s hard not to be when you’ve not moved for 22 years

Wow! I think we all need a Darcy in our lives. Great job.

Thank you for showing us the clear out

2 minutes in and my lazy bone is already moaning about getting inspired to do something about my maximalism. Thanks y'all!
Good job. 👍
Darcy needs to do a workshop on Abundance Plus. Please please please 🙏
Thank you !!!!!!!!
I love Darci Isabella's channel - so happy to see that you both are friends
Great video. That must feel so cleansing! I love it. I'm decluttering my house also.
So impressive, Ladies! That’s one heck of a lot of work.
Good day
How are you doing? 😊
Rebecca gets loud when she's get anxious! Moving produces tremendous anxiety. Darci is an angel! Well done, y'all!
Rebekah looks so good and full of energy! I love seeing it!! And it must be so refreshing to declutter everything~ decluttering is also something that you can-not-do-alone. Declutter always with someone~ proud of you Rebekah!
Rebecca KEEP THE CONTAINERS! Girlfriend if you are attaches to them because it helps you to feel organized then keep them!
LOVE A 10 MIN PLUS VIDEO AND THEN A 20 MIN PLEASE KEEP THE LONGER VIDEOS GOING!!!!
How moving can be good. Peel the onion!
When we moved from the family homestead where we had lived for 22 years, oh the layers that were revealed in the basement storage shelves. My mom had grown up during the depression where everything was saved.
I've moved many many times, I feel good with a deep purge.
Carry on
Paint those canvases white for another session.
Hi Darci!!! So nice to see you again.
Thankyou for giving me the incentive to declutter my life
This is so exciting. God bless!
I love the jars painting. Im glad you're keeping it
You are doing so well . Honestly, that is no easy task . It looks overwhelming, but Darci is really encouraging and organised. Great help.

Darci is a true friend. I’ve decluttered at least 85% of our stuff, empty nesting.
Good day
How are you doing? 😊
Good luck.
What a friend Darci is! Rebecca, you did such an amazing job!
I can honestly say there is 100% no way I could have done as well as you two!!!
