@@WojtekTheBear2005 Mahabharata was an oral tradition at the beginning. Later on those fragments were compiled (during 400 BCE to 400 CE). The Epic genre is not History. It looks back at the past nostalgically (just like Sanjay Leela Bhansali movies). It might be possible that while compilation of Mahabharata some Buddhist ideologies were introduced, since the audience was already exposed to it. Teesta doesn't ask critical questions and doesn't give the grace of her opponents. But she expects that of her critics. She asks questions in which the answers she can agree with. She says its a "tragedy" that babri mosque is destroyed, which it is, but never uses that word to describe the destruction of indigenous structures by foreign invaders. Ever. It is also intriguing that the supposedly greatest Indian historian has publicly claimed that she has no expertise in Indian languages like Sanskrit, Parakrit, Tamil, Pali. Most translations she relies are from European scholars whose translations were funded for the colonial agenda. Her main influence D D Kosambi himself was an amateur hobbyist Historian who dabbled in applying dialectical materialist framework on indian history while he had idle time in his day job in the Indian Statistical Institute. I am as a matter of fact highly intrigued by the idiocy and gullibility of her eulogizers who claim that she is some kind of scientific historian who relies on archaeological and literal scientific evidence. My only guess is that these people are impressed by her authority and pomp and have not read her works where she does not hide her biases and politics. It is pretty open out there and you don't need to be sherlock holmes to discover her Hindu phobia.

some of her arguments are wonderful but some are pure lame, and reflects her reading of history or mythology through the prism of Western concepts...for example, her illustration of rigveda and Mahabharata having references of dasis and equating it with women being cattle is pure bunkum...the word das or dasi or dharm doesn't have an equivalent in English language...so she construes that since the word dasi is there, she might be equating dasi with a slave woman in her wisdom, so it shows that women in early India were not as equals as they r projected to be...here she is completely exposed as servant would be a more crude equivalence to the word dasi as against slave...further, she chooses not to highlight that das or male servants were also part of yudishtars wealth...this selective analysis or representation of Indian texts is a reflection on her bias...I hope she knows her bias...
