Huge shoutout to Micarah for warning the (allegedly) unhoused guy that someone called the cops on him! Random people call cops on unhoused folks all the time, even when they’re not hurting or threatening to hurt anyone, and it’s really painful for all involved.
General advice: If all the person is doing is “loitering,” instead of calling police and escalating the situation, maybe have a conversation with them! Just like Micarah’s example, the conversation will probably be strange, but harmless. It’s always better to reach out in compassion than to lean on cops! Blessings to you, Micarah! You’ve got a good heart!

I would call people without a home homeless regardless of the situation, unless it is the forced de-homing situation… but different people have different terms.
Careful of bedbugs if you are repurposing carpet or furniture etc from the curb. Otherwise, good luck and I hope your New York adventures bring you lots of joy xx

i have a strong feeling micarah is well equipped to protect herself in any city, but will she make friends with the rats and her local bodega person probably. She's friendly, doesn't know power rangers, and nice but theres moments you can tell she is far far from naive. She has lived in an RV. I feel like she is going to really grow in this new part of her journey. Big changes can be good kind of like chicken noodle soup for the soul.
Praying to GAWD rn that we didn't see any footage of the outside of her actual apartment 😭🙏. There are waaaaaay too many creeps in the world--it sucks we have to take precautions like this, but stay safe Micarah! ❤❤❤

Please be careful in NYC. A friend of mine lived there for almost 20 years and in the last two years it’s become awful. She has been mugged, jumped and randomly punched for no reason. And she lived in an expensive part of the city. She just moved (and cried the entire trip to her new home because she loved NYC that much).
Yes, I regretfully moved away from nyc the summer before covid- I had just graduated and couldn’t afford it anymore. Fast forward to this winter when I visited again after having missed it so much, with the prospect of potentially moving back. I was literally taken aback at how much it’s changed in just a few years. A lot less people out and about, especially at night and the subway feels exponentially more dangerous…like there was something sinister in the air. I used to love riding the subway but it gave me the heebiejeebies when I visited again and I don’t think I would have even been comfortable walking around by myself. It’s not the same city…
The city is an incredibly beautiful, dynamic, one-of-a-kind place. Not everyone belongs there, and that’s okay.🤷♀️

Anyone who thinks Micarah staged the furniture on the street, as a New Yorker, that's very accurate and where most of my furniture came from. People do just throw out perfectly good stuff because it is such a hassle to do anything else with it.
Lacking space in an apartment for extra stuff is such a real struggle!
And then not having a car to haul it to a donation center, which might be almost an hour away due to traffic. So many reasons
That's how a LOT of people got stuff back in the day in New York. The GOLD you would see out on curbs was unreal!
Oh, I have seen some the most amazing furniture in New York (especially in Brooklyn), it’s literally just on the side of the street

literally 80% of my furniture in my room is from stooping here
Micarah going over to immediately help bail out the basement after learning she helped caused her mom's uterus to fall out of her really shows how good of a daughter she is.
I love reading the spoiler comments before I watch the whole video because they make the chaos so much more poignant. Also I like trying to figure out the context before I get to that point in the video.
The whole "Aura Boris" conversation made me laugh so hard XD Also, your chickens are such a sweet, benign beings - you abruptly grab them, take them to the car and drive out of home in the middle of the night (basically a kidnaping), and they don't protest at all, just sit inside chillin' like "ok, guess that's what we're doing now" xD They just accepted the fact and moved to JJ's and were perfectly fine with it 🐤🐤🐤🐤

One of my chickens is like this 😂 Except she’s very spoiled. She follows me like a little velociraptor, frantically running to keep pace with me in my yard. I wouldn’t leave her anywhere though, because I love her as much as she loves me 😂❤

Part of that has to do with the fact that it was dark. Chickens cannot see in the dark, so their natural instinct is to roost before dark and then not leave that spot until it's no longer dark. They won't run or act crazy because they can't see. That's why if you ever need to move chickens or handle them for reasons like treating wounds or whatever, at night is the best time.
Having lived in NYC for a hot minute and have friends still living there and man, that apartment search is SO INTENSE compared to anywhere else. They really do ask for like where you lived when you were 2yo. But it's so nice to be there and experiencing it all.
Once a rat that looks like it pays rent (it does) nods at you, you've made it.
NYC is a great place for someone with a passion for costume and fashion! This will be an incredible growth experience for you! Congrats!!

Please be safe! I follow a couple NY youtubers and there are a few reasons people are fleeing from there almost as much as they are from CA. Don’t stand close to edge of platform and stay off your phone and keep your eyes up when out and about. Don’t try to adopt one of the millions of street rats, NY rats are built different and will fight you.

HEY. So, I did that thing and moved to New York when I was 22 and lived there for a year after a breakup. I was so happy to see you get an apartment so quickly!!! It's going to be an awesome time in your life. ***A little note that might have changed since I lived there 20 years ago... they had a couple really neat warehouse stores that sold designer samples... I spent a lot of time in searching there but I wasn't quite tall and thin enough for much. You would go crazy in a place like that! The place near me was in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where I lived. Much love!

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Micarah had more of a plan than my ex did. She figured out housing and she has a job she can take anywhere. I can’t believe Micarah was more responsible than my ex 😂
I could see her really thriving in New York, she's fast paced. Even if she doesn't stay long, it sounds like a really fun experience, especially in that location.

I started following Micarah a while ago, not interested in sewing anything ever and then my friend started sewing and asked me to go take sewing classes with her so I did. Micarah is the reason I was always thought I can sew anything. I mean just take a piece of fabric as wide as a snickers and make a strap out of it, it can’t be THAT hard😆 well it is kinda hard but still at least she caused me to think I can do it, so I tried and learned from it. Now I made my first (pretty ugly) dress, the next thing I make is already gonna be perfect (if I a learned anything from these videos, because it can’t be that hard, right?😂).
NYC has tons of great stuff on the streets that people get rid of, but OMG BE CAREFUL OF ANY FABRIC BECAUSE BED BUGS ARE NO JOKE
