Good video, thank you! What about the vinyl seam sealant? I have this exact problem. I also have both vinyl seam sealer and adhesive. This is the third video, where adhesive was used, rather than sealant. So, I'm guessing I'll use adhesive too.
The seam sealant will work, too, if you have only a slight gap and the vinyl has not pulled up too much - less than 1/2 inch from the edge. Otherwise, I find the adhesive will hold better in the long term. Smooth sailin', matey!
My linoleum is old and needs to be replaced. Many people say just lay new linoleum on top of it The dining room is carpeted and it joins the linoleum in the kitchen. I plan on pulling the carpet up and putting linoleum there and on top of the kitchen. The linoleum will obviously have a little bit of a lip compared to the bare floor where the carpet was. What could I do to smooth out that edge or is there something like fill it with so that when the linoleum goes on top it'll be smooth? I try and do things myself but this is definitely something I'm paying my friend's husband to do. I'm on disability and figure linoleum is the cheapest option as well. Thank you in advance.❤
Aye, lass, there is something you can do. I would ask a linoleum dealer about a floor filler that you can put up against the lip and feather it out over the bare floor, making like a shallow "ramp" all along the lip. The further out you feather it, the less of a hump there will be.

What does the heat do caise i gotta fix mine its curled up and back like 3 inches. We gotta step over it each day. Would i even need to apply hest cause i could put the glue under there in most places already ?
Aye, matey, the heat makes the linoleum more pliable and easier to "stretch" if there is still a small gap. The pliability also keeps the lino from curling again while the glue is drying.
@thepiratehandyman2225 hey mate, thank you for that information and reaching back to me soon. I really appreciate it. I'll subscribe to your channel God bless mate I'm gonna head out and look for some lino glue
Is there anything you can clamp a section of wood to? Otherwise, you might need to talk to a flooring expert at a local store, because I have no idea - sorry!
I once worked with a guy who lost an eye to a ram set and you lose depth perception I would come behind his work and anywhere there was a reveal the reveal would go from something to almost nothing because he couldn't see the depth of things
Aye, it be a challenge, but as you age, your brain develops spatial relativity which counter-acts the loss of depth perception. Not completely, but enough to function.
i was looking to repair a big air pocket and your video popped up, i said he looks cool, he has a eye patch ! i too have a bad eye from a injury 20 years ago, blind in the same eye as you, and looks pretty gross to boot. always thought i could never pull off the eye patch look, i say to my self "but i dont want be a pirate" like how jerry seinfled says "but i dont want to be a cowboy. anyways your video isnt the same situation i have. going to check out the rest of your videos on your channel if there are any. we'll see..
Hope you find something you can use in the videos. As far as the patch goes, I had no choice. I have a bit of very distorted vision in the left eye, enough that I have to block it or it adversely affects my ability to see.
@@thepiratehandyman2225 i too some what have a problem with left eye exposed , can detect light in left eye, seems when i close left eye i can see better out of my good eye , is like a little white hue/haze in good eye with bad eye open. going to go on ebay now and look at patches ,.i looked, once before and saw guy that made leather ones, looked cool, one i had my "eye" on was a brown worn weathered look. but yeah ill have to hit subscribe to your channel, sent the link of your toilet repair to a lady friend of mine who is not all that handy that has been having toilet problems since day one of moving into her new home.

@@thepiratehandyman2225 Thank you! Hey, Mr. Pirate, do you know what a pirate's favorite letter in the alphabet is? It's "R" (Arrr, matey) 😁
Arrrr, you may think so, but I've always been partial to the "C" (the "sea" - get it, me hearty???)
Nice job. First time watching and love the pirate theme
Thank ye, matey!

Will this work for 1950 old spackle tiles? i have a couple of them coming up!
I never worked with those. Are the tiles pliable? If so, then this should work.

What kind of caulking would you use on that linoleum floor to finish?
I used a silicone base. You have to make sure it is completely dry before walking on it, but I like it because it is pliable.
@@thepiratehandyman2225 Will the caulking not attract dirt?
Would sealant not be better?
I would say this video is helpful and also grrrrrrrrrrrrreat! 👍🏽
Aye, thank you, matey!
I think I can do this - as a 75 year old woman, some of the other videos were not going to work for me. Thanks
Aye, lass, ye CAN do it - smooth sailin'!
I get the process....my curl is on the rise of a step...how can I weight that?

I thought this was Mick Foley at first
Aye, matey, I've heard that before...
I can't unsee it now. Even if I cover one of my eyes.
can i use wood glue ? tnx
Nay, matey, wood glue will not properly adhere to the linoleum.
