Theres a hype in Darjeeling about korean culture and as far as i know its before bts and blackpink. The first time i watched korean movie was My tutor friend, in 2007. We really loved it and we continued watching korean movies like Millionaires first love, seducing Mr.perfect, Sex is zero etc and then came the legendary drama Boys over flowers which we watched in 2009 or 10. Then we shifted into watching several dramas like - you are beautiful, My Sassy girl and so many some of which i even forgot. I dont remember the year but one korean drama was there in doordarshan named GHAR KA CHIRAG, Which we used to enjoy watching. It was dubbed in hindi and broadcasted in Doordarshan. And fast forward we got into kpop through Taeyang. His wedding dress was really hyped and then we knew about kpop groups. Bts came much later so yeah i love to watch old korean dramas. 🎉

I feel I am the only one here who knew korea long before kdramas,k movies and k pop came into the scene. As someone who is interested in Current affairs and general knowledge, I have been following Korea, japan , China since almost two decades now. I am a millennial Indian btw. I knew very few people who actually heard even abt Korea. more than Kdramas or k pop,I knew Korean news, politics,companies,culture,beauty,geography ,History abt korea etc. I remember the news of a Hyundai CEO/high official committing suicide by jumping over from the building in the news. It was in 2003. I remember many other such news. Coming to k movies and dramas. I started watching in 2009. My first movie was Phone(2002) and drama was Cain and Abel(2009). Most of the fans you see from India are teens or youths below 25 and most of them have hardly any knowledge of Korea other than Entertainment stuff. I love k movies and dramas(thrillers) but not obsessed like teens. I love Korean nature and my favorite thing to watch is mostly Camping videos and SBS Tv animal videos on youtube. I used to watch The return of Superman from 2013 to 2017. Sarang,Seung jae,triplets and yakkung were my fav kids. Coming to the actors I like mostly the older ones like Song Knag ho,Lee Byung hun,Kim yeon Seok,Choi min Sik, jung Jae young,Hwang jung Min etc. I also like listening to old korean songs rather than k pop (no hate). I advise youngsters not to obsess over korea and pickup fight online,this behaviour just makes the youngsters get more hated. I also advise koreans to visit india and enjoy the beautiful country. Also don't believe all the filthy videos abt India mostly presented on media. just avoid shady places for your own safety :)

I feel I am the only one here who knew korea long before kdramas,k movies and k pop came into the scene. As someone who is interested in Current affairs and general knowledge, I have been following Korea, japan , China since almost two decades now. I am a millennial Indian btw. I knew very few people who actually heard even abt Korea. more than Kdramas or k pop,I knew Korean news, politics,companies,culture,beauty,geography ,History abt korea etc. I remember the news of a Hyundai CEO/high official committing suicide by jumping over from the building in the news. It was in 2003. I remember many other such news.
Coming to k movies and dramas. I started watching in 2009. My first movie was Phone(2002) and drama was Cain and Abel(2009). Most of the fans you see from India are teens or youths below 25 and most of them have hardly any knowledge of Korea other than Entertainment stuff. I love k movies and dramas(thrillers) but not obsessed like teens. I love Korean nature and my favorite thing to watch is mostly Camping videos and SBS Tv animal videos on youtube. I used to watch The return of Superman from 2013 to 2017. Sarang,Seung jae,triplets and yakkung were my fav kids. Coming to the actors I like mostly the older ones like Song Knag ho,Lee Byung hun,Kim yeon Seok,Choi min Sik, jung Jae young,Hwang jung Min etc.
I also like listening to old korean songs rather than k pop (no hate).
I advise youngsters not to obsess over korea and pickup fight online,this behaviour just makes the youngsters get more hated. I also advise koreans to visit india and enjoy the beautiful country. Also don't believe all the filthy videos abt India mostly presented on media. just avoid shady places for your own safety :)
