      Oooooh....be careful when using "take a chill pill". It may actually make a situation worse. My girlfriend was being certifiably irrational one time and I told her to "take a chill pill". Unbeknownst to me it was definitely the wrong week to say that. I still have the scars.

    A Russian saying: Nobody will praise you if you don't praise yourself :))
    If someone makes a bad joke in Russian, then the joker may say "you laugh after the word spade". Or someone can ask the joker "do we laugh after the spade?"

    Comedy is all about timing. A simple dad joke can be really funny with good timing. If she would have paused for just a second before saying I'll show myself out it would have been much funnier. Even more so give a dissatisfied grin then say I'll show myself out.

    Invention of sliced bread is one of the worst inventions in my books. I like bread to be sliced as thick or thin as I need for specific reason, and it differs from bread to bread and from food to food. So for me this idiom has a completely opposite meaning...

    I didn't understand the last expression " i'll show myself out". I heard another meaning like: the term is used when you're at someone else's house.
    "I'll show myself out" means that you'll leave the house yourself, and do not need the host of the house to send you out."
