The reason Russia does not invest in aircraft carriers is that it is mainly defensive and not particularly interested in an offensive navy. Its military is predominantly land based as opposed to the USA that likes to project dominance like the UK did in the past. Nowadays, surface vessels are no match for modern missiles and have turned into targets. As the Russian submarines can go significantly deeper than the American ones and are faster and have similar or even better technologies, the balance swings in favour of the Russians.
Any Tank on the world would work like the russian tanks if hit by the weapons used in ukraine. They are incredible for what they are but its not Iraq here, they face some of the worlds best weapons.
Agree much more lethal to their own crew who tend to die from uncontrolled sinking, radiation poisoning, and having their own weapons and machinery explode while submerged due to shoddy maintenance.
