"Big Business" has always been my favorite L&H short. Watching how you performed the score was amazing! As much as I have always loved player pianos, I never realized that the Fotoplayer had 2 readers so you could switch between rolls! How cool is that! And I thought that the projectionist, with the 2 projector change over system, was kept busy! You are a true talent!
That was a wonderful video to watch! My grandfather was a movie theater piano player during the silent film era in Montreal, Canada. Though he had passed away long before I was born my father often talked about his father working at the theater and as a young boy he would get free passes to go in while his father was working. Lovely to see and hear! Thank you so much.
Absolutely perfect Nate, your timing was superb with everything. I presume rehursal and planning was the key. You should be very proud of this production, it's not easy at all. Also, this short of L&H is perhaps one of their best, sly humor is on full display. More please - Happy New Year ! _(I'd love to see this short full screen with your soundtrack as a keepsake, it's just that good!)_
You're too kind, Mark! I thought about completely obscuring the view of my performance with the film, but wanted to give folks a "behind the scenes" look. Overall I'm glad you enjoyed it!
That’s the first time I have seen the full Big Business short. Earlier this year I had a few old family 8mm movies digitized. To my surprise, right in the middle of our vintage weddings and Christmas celebrations, was 3 minute reel of Laurel & Hardy’s Big Business! I have to think it was a favorite of my grandfather, but even my dad can't remember. 😂
Bravo! I'm a theatre organist who accompanies silent films. This is brilliant but I don't work quite as hard as you do. Excellent job! Keep the history going! Thank you!
A masterful performance, very well planned, demonstrating the capacity of the Photoplayer to enhance silent film - and a much more appropriate and enjoyable accompanyment than that issued on the DVD restoration
I don't comemnt as much as I'd like to. Or even respond to Facebook messages... :/ But I have to tell you this is awesome. I'll be honest, I've never had the attention span to watch silent movies. I did give this a try tho. I have to assume you know this film. You're already aware of what's gonna happen. Like the tree hitting them in the head. That said, this took some time and dedication and that I can appreciate very much. Well done my friend and best to you in '25.
Hey there! I'm new to the film, but put together and practiced this routine a handful of times before showing it to an audience. By the time of this filming I had run it about a dozen times. Even still my performance is never the same twice. I'm really glad this got your attention!
When Stan is tossing the chair out the window, it has a price of it on the bottom, $40.00, as well as the item number! I can't believe the amount of ceramics trashed in this movie! But when Oliver hit the officers foot....
That was great. Changing the volume when it showed the officer in his car was absolutely golden. Excellent restoration and film!
It's fun to push the limits of the machine (and my timing). Thanks!
I'll forever be a huge L&H fan. This was real treat! Thank you.
Excellent restoration and a great treat. Nice to see James Finlayson in an early Laurel & Hardy short like this.

I saw this picture years ago and loved it then. You're music and timing are superb. Loved every minute of this.

This was ridiculously, completely insane! And I laughed heartily! Merry Christmas to you too Nate!
I like your work. I want one now!
As a fan of silent comedies and just moving pictures in general, this is the most delightful and fascinating thing I've ever seen. Thanks!
That's very kind of you, thanks! I enjoy sharing it with others.
Well done a lovely few minutes entertainment. Thank you for your passion and skill.. Have a good New Year.

What I lack in skill I make up for in effort. Thank you!
Those guys were, and still are, amazing talent.
There's nothing quite like 'em!
Great job
Loved it. Happy new year

What a delightful experience! Totally fasciNATEing content!
Heh! Thank you!
lovely work .
I can't imagine where you even found a Fotoplayer to restore. I've only seen one other. But my exposure to them has been limited to RUclips.
They're still out there. I'm very lucky to have come across this one.
Thanks so much for the video. Really enjoy it. Wishing you the best in 2025❤ you in Michigan 🎊🎉
Hi natte I have a question do you Sell player piano parts 😊
De trop rares vidéos.

Great fun. Thanks.
I look at that home they drive up to and realize....back then, that was a new neighborhood!

Hal Roach talked about making this, and they'd destroyed the wrong house
they're as funny without being heard🤣
