I have to say, if theres one thing they did right with the remastered pixel version, its the magic and graphics. friggen epic!! I want this game on my switch.
They are using the same sprites for espers, enemies, and I believe battle bg as well. All they did was butcher the player sprites, add awesome spell effects, and had an intern programmer design the UI 🤣 I would have been happier with player sprites also untouched and a much cleaner UI. After having ffvi on SNES, psx, GBA; I have became a tad jaded over the years from their 'remasters' God I loved the dragons den end content added to GBA though 🥰
@@rainbowk1ng 90% of them look better. A few still look early the same. I think you are right though. The ones that look the same have the least amount of global special effects.
Terrato looked amazing, honestly - I didn't even like that esper. Also, love that Crusader was used against Kefka! For a hot second I thought that only Catoblepas and Tritoch would actually get a kill in. But then HEY! Odin and Raiden both got it! And, of course Palidor and Ragnarok. ("I dub thee: DRIED MEAT!" Hah! Love it!)
yea it sucks they didnt add any of the extra content from later ports into the pixel remasters............ that aside i had recently just cleared up to IMRF and holy hell the revamped opera scenario was absolutely beautiful

the extra content for iv was really a neat addition to the characters extra content for v was really neat addition to the already great gameplay of ffv extra content for vi tho was ok-ish imho so I don't really feel missing much other than the dumied out kaiser dragon

Maduin isn't Madeen. Maduin was a name created by Woolsey, and has nothing to do with Madeen that does have everything to do with XII's Maduin. They're two creatures that share the same name, but aren't related. Isn't that confusing?
Wait, if extra espers from gba are not included do that means that all dragons, Kaiser dragon, leviathan, ultima omega, etc aren’t included as well?? Edit: I was more interested into fighting the monster than the espers itself. I love the dungeon of the dragons because was massive and i love how in order to find fight the leviathan you have to take a useless ship to cross the sea. I do not care if the espers sucks or not at all.
Correct those bosses are NOT in the Pixel version and even if they were the summoning of GBA espers they kind of all suck and the Ragnarok Esper STILL sucks on the GBA version so I still chose the Sword.

I was going to give them a shot having grown up with the originals since FF1. I read some reviews saying that FF4 was way easier and FF3's leveling system is broken or something like that. I think what some were expecting was for Square Enix to take the best content from all the different ports and put it all together but it seems that's not what they did.
Such a feat isn’t as possible as it seems. Due to the Pixel Remaster engine being fundamentally flawed, without proper tools, it’s a lot harder to mod this than even the mobile ports, which already was infamous for needing the Atma Mod to fix most its tools. Similarly, I’ve wanted a mod that simply adds in the two PS1 CG cutscenes. However such a thing is still hard to do as this engine does not support the injection of code without the proper tools. Meaning a work-around, like the text, graphic and music mods have by replacing assets rather than modifying the engine…
Can I ask you guys some questions? - If we choose Ragnarok the sword instead of esper, can we still got the achievement "all magicite'? - And what about Odin and Raiden? We have to choose one of them. Can we still got the achievement "all magicite' from the choose?
Just saying, why anyone would choose a sword over the ability to teach your party the Ultima spell is beyond me. It's the Final Fantasy equivalent of a tactical nuke.
@@TheDastard There seems to be only one Ragnarok sword in PR as you can't repeat final boss, PR is also lacking post game content so no best weapons for Celes and Terra either making Ragnarok even more valuable(can be turned to Lightbringer). I seriously don't understand why they cut out so much content from PR when it should have been the ultimate version...
I got the achievement and chose Ragnarok as a weapon. There are in total 27 magicites in the Pixel Remaster, but you can only have 26 since you have to choose between obtaining either Odin or Raiden. The achievement requires you to get 25 magicites. Yes you can only get one of them, and it doesn't matter if you choose Odin or Raiden in order to get the achievement.
Yeah it's the polar opposite of a Crusader even. I guess some can't ever be offended! A shame they kept the ability to it also hit your party, it's unusable still.
I don't know how all the mechanics work exactly or if the numerical difference actually makes a practical difference, but at least in the SNES version, Odin's hit rate is 110. Raiden's is 140.
Said it before.. all this effort put into the remaster, the opera, magic effects, etc, but SQUEENIX COULD NOT BE BOTHERED TO FIX THE FONTS. -There is a fix for steam version but not mobile version -Removed GBA content -No opening credits Utterly baffling.
I still play my SNES version. Paladin Shield, Crystal Sword, all Dances, all Lores, every character has all spells learned, all the little extras for individual characters. Only bummer I got is I only got like 230-240 something of the 251 items total. This shit has old school art mixed with new special effects. Meh.
Sadly no but trying to kill the 2 Soul Savers with Banish/X zone so that when they die Wrexsoul dies with them won't work on the Pixel versions the soul savers will actually be revived in the Pixel version when killed.

Someone doesn't know how to use ragnarok. You can turn enemies into really powerful stuff. I got exp eggs, miracle shoes and genji gloves. Not to mention what you can bet them into at the colosseum it made my party explode in terms of over powering.
No I do know how to use it its just that it almost NEVER succeeds even if you have Gogo Mime it EVERY turn for like hours on end and while the SNES/PS1 version has the Vanish/Doom glitch using Vanish on those versions does NOT make the Ragnarok esper work 100% of the time. That ALONE is why I chose the sword I could get the exp eggs/miracle shoes BEFORE entering the Phoenix Cave as for the Genji Glove I never bother to equip it since 4x Ultimate weapon hits with the Masters scroll doing 9999 damage per hit is good enough and I'd rather turn Genji gloves INTO Genji ARMORS.
Ragnarok's ONLY good use is the Ultima spell but That's what the PALADIN shield is for so I'll still always chose the Sword never the crappy esper even on the GBA/IOS version where you can get BOTH.
Who needs that remaster? Nothing special about it... Its just Square making some extra profit over a 30 years old game. Its almost a copy/paste game. I'd rather play FFVI Advance.

Just different animations. Outside of that Odin gives you a +1 speed boost when you gain a level where Raiden you can learn the quick spell.

The first 5 games reuse the animations. Only VI got unique spell animations for non-Summon magic.
