Nice! Glad I could bring back those memories. Sadly my little guy died. My guess is he feel asleep near (for those who don't know, dwarf puffers actually sleep) on a rock near the filter inlet. I thought my inlet was small enough it wouldn't cause problems, well I never had any problems for a year, until one night it seems as tho his tail got sucked in and he puffed up in panic crushing himself in the process... it was really a sad day because these little guys have so much personality...
Respect! Exuisite tank setup and size, love the big stone and tree. Appropriate music and great filming. How is that shrimp doing? Has it been shredded yet by the puffer? If not, do you know why not.
My professional local fish store told me that shrimp were excellent tank mates for Dwarf pea puffers. They said they are just about the ONLY tankmates they will not bother. They actually had a set up with five puffers and several shrimp sitting in the plants right by the puffers and they were acting like they weren't even there.
Puffers are very advanced to keep. Sadly mine had an accident and is gone now. As sad as it was, I'm not replacing him, it was just too much work. I wouldn't recommend putting it with any other fish, not even other puffers unless the tank is very large and there are a lot of plants to break the line of site. Once they get older they become very aggressive and will attack other fish.
Beautiful tank set-up, the water is crystal clear and your fish is obviously healthy. I just bought an Aqua one Aquanano 40 (55l). Do you know roughly how many dwarfs I could keep in it ? Maybe just 2 or 3 ?
@nivrot Thanks for the kind works! The shrimp died on their own shortly after the video they may have been sold to me as ghost shimp but they may have been for brackish water. I'm not 100% sure if my puffer will attack them now. It's a pretty tame female and they are know to be less aggressive then males. I've had 2 small apple snails in the tank for about a month now and they are untouched. Sometimes you luck out. Check out my other vid of my puffer eating mosquito larva.. no mercy there!
What a lovely tank! I love the whole setup, and the tank looks perfect for that puffer. Do you have any other fish in there? It's a very nice puffer, as well. It looks in really good shape. Do you have it in brackish water or fresh water? I have a green puffer in fresh water, but he's lived in it all his life so he's fine with it. Anyway, nice to see a good tank for once. :D
You have a beautiful tank. I am a new owner of a Dwarf Puffer and I was wondering how many worms do you feed him a day? Thanks. Just so you know, I have heard that these fish can be very aggressive and territorial. I added my Dwarf puffer to a tank of two Neon Tetras and they seem to get along moderately well, one of the tetras goes for the puffer a little but seeing as the Puffer is known to have the worser temperament I am rather happy on how they are getting along.
Everyone asking about tank mates: I've had various dps over the past 6 years and for the past 4, mine have lived with eel loaches (pangio anguillaris). I currently have 9 in a 20g with the eel loaches and the dps seem to be more comfortable with others like them, if the get nervous or scared, they'll all hover near each other like a safety in numbers kind if thing
How many bloodworms do you feed in a day and how often do you feed snails? what kinds of snail should i feed that don't multiple too much? sorry for the questions thinking of buying one
He is sure a cute little bugger. Do you still have him? Your aqua scape is EXCELLENT! Are there any kind of tank mates that can live with a dwarf Puffer? I've thought about keeping one but I've heard they have to be by themselves. Not even with their own kind either.
Beautiful tank! You only have one puffer in there, right? He must really love to have that entire space for himself. Doesn't he attack the shrimp though...?
@crimsonkurls Yep, I kept ghost shrimp with my little one, so it will clean up whatever Mr. Puffy would drop. Everything was fine till shrimp got to be the size bigger than my puffer. Then shrim got aggressive and they fought, I mean really fought. Shrimp lost, but Mr. Puffy had the scar on his side for the rest of his life.
@666elcam they are verry teritorial especially males but i would imagine scince that shrimp is clear it cant see it all that well so doesnt even try to get it becoz it probally doesnt know its there if you have a tank big enough 15g or more i would consider a few more dwarves try if u keep more than one to have 1:2 male to female puffers
@@A-Wall I just got one few days ago. Used to have snails to help with the algae but it was biting them so I took most of them out. The two I saw in there are no longer anywhere to be seen... lol... I want shrimp but I'm scared it will terrorize that too
@@xPorsumCongrats! They are a lot of fun. Hmmm, I would say that since things aren't going so well with the snails, it won't be any better with the shrimp. If the tank is big, well planted and the shrimp have really good places to hide, maybe, but I would still be a gamble.
Do the pea puffers have to be in brackish water or just fresh water, I am so confused! Some say I have to make it eventually into salt water for them but some say pea puffer care is different for spotted or figure 8 puffers, any info on what I need to do before I get my pea puffers for my 5gal tank please would be such a big help to me.
Amanda Smith they are 100% freshwater, the care is totally different than a spotted or figure 8. The feeding regiment would most likely be the same although much less. Their teeth do not need trimming as compared to the two. Check out the Aquarium Co-Op youtube channel, they have a bunch of videos specifically for pea puffers. Best of luck!
Amanda Smith No prob, it's making me want one again... haha. I was just at the fish store today to pick up a few cherry shrimp and they had a tank full of tiny pea puffers, ahhh! so painfully cute!
A- Wall I think I might of been they're although I'm not sure!anyway I wish I could of brought the lot of them they're so lovely!and what do you recommend to clear out algi problems in the future that will go with one Pea puffer and eight Chilli rasboras?
FISHMAS (fish keeping) algae is a problem i never solved in that tank, I had to deep clean that tank once a week, and then i had a BGA outbreak that was unstoppable. In my big tank I can keep snails which keeps the algae at bay but you can't do that with puffers... So unfortunately I can't help. Hopefully you have better luck than me!
you can go ahead and google dwarf puffer. there's plenty of forums and websites that can tell you. unlike other puffers these dwarf puffers are entirely freshwater. they can do fine in a 5 gallon, but if you want more then you're going to need about 5-10 gal per puffer and densely planted so they can hide from each other. they're quite territorial.
what kind of substrate dude? what about the rocks as well? how long have you had the puffer for? I was pretty successful with one, when I first started the hobby just adding salt in the tank every so often. how do you maintain yours? what's your method.. I agree siiik tank.
EpiK ReM these are actually true freshwater dwarf puffers. they love in freshwater their whole lives unlike the other types like figure 8 and green spotted which are the brackish/saltwater
Maria Swinning o i see so they where born in freshwater environment. not bred freshwater. which puffer is this the spotted one? its a nice tank set up.
EpiK ReM they are called dwarf puffers, pea puffers, or pygmy puffers. They only get maybe 1.5in. They are perfect in a 10g, but they will also be fine in a 5g for awhile. We sell a lot of them at my store lol
Maria Swinning they are beautiful fish really attractive to look at hehe. its beautiful that you own a store thats living the dream hehe. where is the store located at?
Interesting. I think maybe Pea Puffers have an undeserved bad reputation. I have mine in with a few older female guppies, he isn't bothering them either. He was interested in the beginning, because he's been alone for months, but he never nips at them or chases them at all. Maybe they can live with other creatures. Just not snails, he does eat them.
@BigolePappy2 hmm, i payed like $4 for it, i'm sure if you had to get one online, shipping would cost a small fortune. I can't help ya. plus i'm from canada so i'm kinda far away.
Too small? I’m sorry is it Opposite Day for you? That tank is fine for the one puffer! The rule is 3 gallons per puffer. These puffers grow to be 1 CENTIMETRE! That is not animal abuse. You should check the definition of animal abuse! Check yourself before you wreck yourself. By making this comment you were just asking for hate.
Love the little Puffies! I have a gang of 6 in a 36 long tank.
Very nice tank set up. Love the puffer. I have two dwarf puffers with neons and they seem to get along fine, so far.
He's so cute, this is very good content I love pea puffers and yours is just so beautiful and healthy!
this tank is simply amazing i love the way you've set it up
Que bonito Puffer🤗🤗🤗
This tank is amazing. Love those rocks.
I am in love with your tank! I have two of these little guys they are the best!
Nice! Glad I could bring back those memories. Sadly my little guy died. My guess is he feel asleep near (for those who don't know, dwarf puffers actually sleep) on a rock near the filter inlet. They get maybe an inch big, I have 3 of them in a 5gallon and they have been alive and happy for two years! get them!!! you will love them haha

I have 5 Dwarf puffers in a 10 gallon. Water parameters are great, they all get along and its my favorite tank in the house.

How big to dwarf puffers get and do they really do ok in a 5 gallon?

Then shrim got aggressive and they fought, I mean really fought. Shrimp lost, but Mr. Puffy had the scar on his side for the rest of his life.
@BigolePappy2 thanks!
is that a twig you wrapped the java moss around?
Cant wait til I get a tank cycled for a puffer!
I seriously never understand how they make these 5 gallons looks so big
nice tank!
my dwarf puffers have been alive for 2 years and they have been easy to keep...
So the cleaner shrimp isn't being bit by the puffer?
Thanks!

if anyone else would like to see pea puffer nad otocinclus content i am here 4 you. mainly dwarf puffer
Love the NIN
It's so cute
what are you using to drop the food in? as I'm getting a dwarf puffer soon
Frozen blood worms
Nice setup, did he eat the shrimp yet?
Thanks! The ghost shrimp the store sold me weren't actually freshwater and died. The puffer at the time showed absolutely no interest in them.
A- Wall Sorry about the shrimp, sounds like such a rookie mistake on the seller’s part.
@Armadillofun glad i could help!
what do these guys eat?
Is this a saltwater or fresh water cause I seen people say both?
where did you get those nice looking rocks?
jordi lizaola just from my back yard

I've heard that some puffers will live with shrimp. Some, on the other hand, may eat them.
@suvattii this one is a female, not very aggressive at all. I can only imagine this one nipping at things if i was starving it.
@BigolePappy2 I got mine at a pet store. some one the smaller pet stores can order them in.
how many can i fit in a 10 or 20 gallon?
Can you make a care video ? And are they freshwater ?
you can go ahead and google dwarf puffer. there's plenty of forums and websites that can tell you. unlike other puffers these dwarf puffers are entirely freshwater. they can do fine in a 5 gallon, but if you want more then you're going to need about 5-10 gal per puffer and densely planted so they can hide from each other. they're quite territorial.

I throw in some pond snails as a snack between meals. Lots of fun watching them hunt for the snails and suck them out of there shell.

Oh i wish it was MY store!! i work at a chain pet store but i help run the fish department and they let me order the more exotic fish
how often do you feed those dwarf puffers?
vince1964100 I don't have it anymore unfortunately but I was feeding it a couple frozen blood worms or live mosquito larva once a day.
thank you
How do you keep the puffer from eating the shrimp?
Sassifrass7 Mine showed no interest in the shrimp.

Sassifrass7 Well that's good then. I've read that the females are more docile than the males.
A- Wall how do you see them I'm intreed now and want to get a male in my 5 gallon tank.
You do realise this fish is 3/4 of an inch long? It is 150% a 5 gal tank.
ok If I get some tank space I will! If I can.

what is the name of the song
i had one female but she got stuck in the filter output the same day :.(....... im gonna get one and turn the filter down and give it a million snails
what shrimp is that at the end?
benjitheluckyguy i think ghost shrimp
Definitely a 5 gal, the fish is only 3/4" long.
Tht doesn't look like a 5gal to me but great tank
wow the meal was bigger then him..
I'm in England, and I have seen them for £2.
100% fresh water.
that tank is sick
Rod Belding are you sick too?
@Armadillofun Left you a message to your youtube mailbox.
