  • Top 5 movies starring Roger Moore. Not his James Bond movies, everything else. A personal choice, of course, so please add your own choices in the comments below. My list includes Shout at the Devil (1976) with Lee Marvin, Gold (1974) with Susannah York, The Sea Wolves (1980) with Gregory Peck and North Sea Hijack with James Mason and Anthony Perkins. A lot of his movies fall into the post-colonial/wartime adventure category, with big ensemble casts. #rogermoore #70s #ww2 #britishfilm #jamesbond

The man who haunted himself is Roger Moore's best performance ever in my opinion

Definitely a well-respected film with good direction from Basil Deardon.

The man who haunted himself is brilliant, I also have a rare film of his on dvd called Crossplot, it's pretty good too.

Yes, Crossplot sees him in an interesting comedic role, and still looking extremely young!

Moore’s best non-Bond films are “The Wild Geese” and “The Sea Wolves,” both made by the same team: producer Euan Lloyd, writer Reginald Rose, and director Andrew V McLaglen. Solidly written and well-acted.
Let’s not forget the 1976 TV film, “Sherlock Holmes in New York,” starring Moore and Patrick Macnee.
Moore’s own favourite was “The Man Who Haunted Himself.”

There's a nice documentary about Euan Lloyd on the Arrow release of The Wild Geese.

Mnn i think personally The Man Who Haunted Himself has to be Rogers best movie.

I don't think you're alone in thinking that. It's certainly a role that's held in high regard.

    That Lucky Touch is engaging.
Would have Escape to Athena ahead of North Sea Hijack. Bigger budget & cast.

Thanks for commenting. For me, Escape to Athena was spoiled by Elliott Gould; he seemed to be trying far too hard.

@@4kfellowship The ETA director directed Rambo a few years later.
Didn't mind Charlie. Loved Stephanie Powers getting the Germans excited and Claudia Cardinale with a machine gun.

@@4kfellowship Didn't see North Sea Hijack for years. Didn't have a video & missed it on TV. Was expecting a Die Hard esq big budget action fest. But was more of a drama.

Love him...Roger refused to eat the disgusting cruelty that is fois gras...and stood up against this vile abuse of animals.
    Well Done Sir!

The Cannonball Run is good fun.

Shout at the Devil is so little known and so underappreciated. I make a point to mention it and recommend it every chance I get.

The story of director Peter Hunt's life, as he also helmed On Her Majesty's Secret Service, which is extremely underappreciated too.

Just read Peter Hunt directed Death Hunt in 1981. With Marvin & Charles Bronson. Seems like a 'Shout at the Devil' type film.
Quintan Tarantino is on RUclips praising it.
    Will check it out.

No, No No! "Escape to Athena" from 1979 was the best.
