The Wages of Fear 4K UHD Blu-ray review - Henri-Georges Clouzot - BFI - classic suspense thriller
James Franciscus is a very underrated actor.
Same who North sea hijack was to faill
Very good The wild geese
the added music and ambient sounds really took me when i was watching it. it was very loud, so some lines of dialoque were missed because i wasn't using subtitles. 🤣
just watched this today. i think it's pretty enjoyable. i say that as a fan of glynis johns of course :) diana dors is very pretty as well!
I’m sure Disney loves this. Going after kids sexually and now public nudity. Way to go Hollywood. Really dodging those SA and PDF allegations in the industry… /s
They don't make em like this anymore
I got mine other day. However I haven't opened mine yet. With your copy, on the top AND bottom near the spine, are there the slightest white tears? I'm not sure if they all come that way. I didn't want to open mine in case in was damaged. Please lmk. Thanks!
Wow! Look at that ethereal face, simply put "a knockout from any angle". Jean is not one of my top faves for nothing. She was a superlative actor, covering every genre of film that was made. She was on top of her game for many years. She was a hit too on television with many made-for-TV movies and serials. She was loved by both the American and British press and the complete world too. There'll never be another Jean Simmons!!!
I wonder how it compares to the Criterion 4K version in terms of picture quality.
The criterion 4k doesn’t have hdr or Dolby vision so it’s going to be incomparable
@@PanfluteExpedition_ I'd imagine the Dolby Vision BFI edition would look better.
The Film is at the moment not available at BFI....hope, I can buy a DVD....
My favourite Film since I saw at the Leeds Film Festival 1996 !
You people are deceitful and dishonest, making people think it is the actual movie you are running.
Deaf Crocodile just announced they’ll be doing the North American distribution which is how I ended up here. Was trying to find any kind of info on the movie - definitely looks like one to check out.
Google The Outcasts BFI.
The film is wonderful, about mythic in the old Ireland, about prejudices between the human beeings in the little villages on the countryside and the Ghost Michael (the fiddler) . Wonderful film.
Recommend playing this at 1.5 speed if you want to stay awake
Thanks for this! I love Jean Simmons but never heard of this. Just subscribed!
I wrote to the BFI last year asking them to re-release this film. I probably didn’t impact their decision but I’m going to pretend I’m the reason this happened 😎
Just watched it. Beautifully shot. Lovely music. A time capsule of early 60s London. Sadly the story didn’t grip me.The murder came out of nowhere and seemed out of place. The comedy was poor and I didn’t find Bates convincing here. Shame because technically I loved it.
It's hard to get this movie available oversees.
Reed made nothing good after The Third Man? What is he on about? Numbskull.
bullshit!
I was in high school, maybe fifteen when this appeared on late night TV.I watched and became completely engrossed in it.I was literally on the edge of my seat as the trucks rolled along the mountain paths.sorry,I lost my self. This is a great movie!!!
The movie, The Long Haul starring Diana Dors and Victor Mature 1957.
Rip Diana dors
Just read Peter Hunt directed Death Hunt in 1981. With Marvin & Charles Bronson. Seems like a 'Shout at the Devil' type film. Quintan Tarantino is on RUclips praising it. Will check it out.
im just about feature Peeping Tom on my channel as Criterion are about to release the same restoration in the US - interesting that the media response for this in the UK caused Hitchcock to stop press from seeing it ahead of its release. Studiocanal continue to fly the flag with classic UK films.
Love him...Roger refused to eat the disgusting cruelty that is fois gras...and stood up against this vile abuse of animals. Well Done Sir!
The carachters of Young jedu adventires are so good but the cast....
Cheers for your review, its a rare guilty pleasure this one, kinda dumb but the eye candy is still nice. There's certainly no other film like it!
No, No No! "Escape to Athena" from 1979 was the best.
wild geese and the man who haunted himself 2 best Moore movies
"The Man who haunted himself" is Roger Moore's absolute best non-Bond movie!
Hey, nice Airplane! reference.
We try!
Shout at the Devil is so little known and so underappreciated. I make a point to mention it and recommend it every chance I get.
The story of director Peter Hunt's life, as he also helmed On Her Majesty's Secret Service, which is extremely underappreciated too.
Movie, The Card, one of my favorites.
THE WILD GEESE is easily Roger Moore's best film.
That's a brilliant movie.
Moore’s best non-Bond films are “The Wild Geese” and “The Sea Wolves,” both made by the same team: producer Euan Lloyd, writer Reginald Rose, and director Andrew V McLaglen. Solidly written and well-acted. Let’s not forget the 1976 TV film, “Sherlock Holmes in New York,” starring Moore and Patrick Macnee. Moore’s own favourite was “The Man Who Haunted Himself.”
There's a nice documentary about Euan Lloyd on the Arrow release of The Wild Geese.
Oh, please let's forget 'Sherlock holmes. No need to bring it up.
Mnn i think personally The Man Who Haunted Himself has to be Rogers best movie.
I don't think you're alone in thinking that. It's certainly a role that's held in high regard.
The man who haunted himself is brilliant, I also have a rare film of his on dvd called Crossplot, it's pretty good too.
Yes, Crossplot sees him in an interesting comedic role, and still looking extremely young!
Well done 🤘🏳⚧(⚵⚶⚴𓌂𓐍𓏏𓁐⚳⚢⚸)🏳🌈🦘
North Sea Hijack is his best film IMO.
yes, a guilty pleasure, awful film great fun to watch ...
thought Anthony Perkins was a hoot. One of his better roles.@@sylvester-jb3lj
The man who haunted himself is Roger Moore's best performance ever in my opinion
Definitely a well-respected film with good direction from Basil Deardon.
Good review of Shout at the Devil on here - 'A bit louder'.
Liked the first hour of The Wild Geese. Then the action was a bit silly. The Cannonball Run is good fun.
That Lucky Touch is engaging. Would have Escape to Athena ahead of North Sea Hijack. Bigger budget & cast.
Thanks for commenting. For me, Escape to Athena was spoiled by Elliott Gould; he seemed to be trying far too hard.
@@4kfellowship The ETA director directed Rambo a few years later. Didn't mind Charlie. Loved Stephanie Powers getting the Germans excited and Claudia Cardinale with a machine gun.
@@adamcollins915 Alright, you've convinced me! I'm rewatching it tonight!
@@4kfellowship Didn't see North Sea Hijack for years. Didn't have a video & missed it on TV. Was expecting a Die Hard esq big budget action fest. But was more of a drama.
Yes Telly Savalas did a nice job in Escape to Athena. liked a much.
That opening shot looks just like the shot from Blade Runner 2049. The Film reminds of the movie Xanadu interesting it has Gene Kelly connection too!
One of my favorite actresses. Thanks for the video.
You're very welcome. She's such a fun actress, it was a pleasure to make this video. Thanks for commenting.
What about Yield To The Night, showed she could act and not only a blonde sex pot
Miranda was fun. I recall finding it on youtube.
You can also find the sequel, Mad About Men, on RUclips - well worth checking out!
She was always a delight. To me she was THE perfect English girl-next-door. Thanks for remembering her.
Thanks for commenting. I think that sums her up very well - she's so charmingly relatable and grounded.
@@4kfellowshipRelatable and charming are perfect descriptors. BTW I can't forget her portrayal of the lovable eccentric aunt in "While You Were Sleeping" very late in her career. Cheers!
