    The thing that actually matters when picking a class in Fire Emblem is maximizing how many Wyverns you can have in order to make an army of dragons. XD

    Good video, I hear lots of people trash the master classes for "bad growths" so this helps disprove that. Another thing to consider is movement. Even though the mounted horse classes all give -Spd when mounted, you get extra movement. Up to you whether or not that movement is worth the loss in Spd.

      Who need growthrates anyway when you are lvl 30? Growthrates are only relevant for the first 10 to 15 levels (depending on your basestats). Even if you had bad luck with your growthrates the promo bonuses will balance it out.

      I'd argue that Mortal Savant deserves a bit of a thrashing (in the case of Felix, anyway) Mortal Savant gets one more movement compared to SW which is good, but theres actually a gap of 30 between Savant and SM when it comes to speed growth, which is pretty huge imo. Savant doesn't even give Felix anything special, you can give him a Levin Sword+ for 1-3 range, he only gets Thoron and Thunder lol

    • @sdw4527
      @sdw4527 5 лет назад

      @@xXOldCampXx My opinion on this has somewhat changed since I posted that. I agree Mortal Savant is definitely one of the weaker master classes. I think the ideal users for that class are actually Dorothea, Marianne, Ingrid, and Lysithea (though those last 2 are probably better off in other classes). It's more of a side grade mage class than a physical one.
      Assassin should honestly be promoted to master class status. It has the 6 Mov while also keeping Swordfaire. It just loses SM's Sword Crit which isn't that big of a deal.

    • @sj4iy
      @sj4iy 5 лет назад +4

      It is...but between the stride and dancer classes, it's not the end all be all. If you have someone that can move anywhere on the field but is screwed because they lack the other important stats like speed, strength, res, dex...then they're nothing but a sitting duck. I personally value those four stats more highly than movement since there are so many ways to add movement to every battle simply through a dancer and gambits. I had stride gambits on two people and a dancer for movement in my last playthrough and I had no issue at all covering the map very quickly. Add on the fact that gambits don't require rng, either...just training your authority (unlike the stats).

    • @jotarokujo4754
      @jotarokujo4754 5 лет назад +5

      sj4iy most high movement classes aren’t as statistically deficient as people say they are. The video compares Paladin to High Lord, which is fine for the point he was making, but is not a reflection of the quality of mounted units. High lord has one of the best speed modifiers in the game and is a personal class to Dimitri. Paladins in particular are bemoaned for the deficient speed modifier and growth, but most units who are good in those classes, either won’t be super fast even in other classes or have high enough speed for it to not matter. Ferdinand and Sylvain are not going to be speed demons even on other class paths and Leonie and Ingrid have high enough speed for the class stats not to matter. And then you have fliers, which just break the natural order completely with good stats, high movement, and completely ignoring all terrain. Even when utilizing stride or dancers, mounted and flying units still come out on top because they can make more efficient use out of those one turn boosts. In short, mounted units do not have shitty enough stats to be worse than their infantry peers.

    I would argue that increasing growths on a characters key stats are important if said key statgrowth is low. Ashe and Ignatz really need strength, so Brigand is most likely the best intermediate class for them (of course the main reason would be death blow, which is amazing for them) but even a few points of STR can make a huge difference if that character is quick. It improves their damage output and eve helps them be faster, because higher str allows them to weild weapons with less speedloss. 35% str seems like too much of a gamble for me, 45% is workable on the other hand IMO.

    • @louiesatterwhite3885

    Could have been slightly more precise with better examples, such as a unit bad in one stat with a class "supposed" to fix his stat, or taking all stage into account.

    Well done I most agreed it bassicly what I was saying in an other comment (yah sure growth rate aren't super important but still in the end game if you stay as a cav that give -10 % for 30 lvl or something + there -2 SPD or something the classe give it just had up to about 10ish overtime.)
    Also yah Basse stats could be nice to show how it work (basse stats of a classe.) For exemple does it worth it to go get forteress knight 17 basse DEF or it doesn't things like that could be nice too look at what Classe give what good basse stats like what Warlock give 17 magic or so? like it may help a raphael that want to go whit a mix of magic / physical for some reason :D

    • @xakuray5522
      @xakuray5522 5 лет назад +1

      So, to answer everything, yes if you compare 2 classes with completely different focuses on just 1 stat, on the (very) long term, the difference will start becoming meaningful, but even then you end up neglecting advantages covering most of the game for small late game gains in a game with no online battle.
      When it comes to promotion bonuses, those are mostly there for making anything "viable" you can easily take advantage of thief and armored knight, but for advanced classes it would mean investing a ton of learning into useless skills. Getting A in magic for anyone not being a mage is basically unthinkable, for forteresse knights, it still ask for "B" in heavy armor, an axe user may be able to pass it with only a C and a bit of luck but it's hardly ever worth to hunt those promo bonuses outside of NG+

    • @dylc3373
      @dylc3373 5 лет назад

      Moving from mage to for. Knight for a base defence isn't really the way to go, going for min-max stats may seem like a beautiful thing but I'd suggest against it but you do you. Moving from mage to most physical classes hinders you since most physical, if not all, prevent you from using your magic spells so jumping Lindhart to a knight just makes it so you have a character with low str and Def playing a tank role with a dead magic stat (I haven't used fort. Knight so idk if it prevents magic use like peg. Knight) also you might get class stat bonuses, for example a fort knight might give +3 def, but you'll lose that or have it adjusted when moving to another class, especially one outside that promotion line. There is a way to min max stats and that's probably game manipulation. But not many are going to hit max stats unfortunately.

    • @dylc3373
      @dylc3373 5 лет назад

      As for the topic of budding talents, use serenes forest, any budding talent that is a combat art is niche and not as good as a budding talent that is an ability, i.e. Marianne's budding talent in Lance is frozen Lance combat art. Hilda's budding talent in heavy armor is seal speed ability.

    • @AnimePigeon
      @AnimePigeon 5 лет назад +3

      Dyl C I don’t think you get my point - in FE 3 Houses you can pass a certification exam, get the base stat bonus from that class and revert to your monk/mage class via reclass. You only lose class modifiers on class change, but some classes increase your base stats too and you keep base stat increases no matter what.

    • @dylc3373
      @dylc3373 5 лет назад +3

      @@AnimePigeon if that's the case then my apologies and pardon my ignorance. Again you do you but at some point bouncing from class to class for base stat gains will probably slow some characters down in some areas. I'm not sure if enough testing has been done still so as far as I know you may be onto something. But taking that path leads to a lot of teaching grinding. Of course weekend seminars can help with chunks of experience being handed out but do you really need to invest in heavy armor for characters like Lindhart for a few def stats? Considering some have a negative affinity for some skills you'll spend most if not all of the game getting people to c/c+ skills and what kind of pay out are you looking at then since you're taking focus from making them what you need. Again, you do you. Anything can work in this game, you might be onto something but it might require more grinding then I see necessary. Maybe you're onto something, I'll keep it in mind as I watch videos and try things out

    • @wolftamerwolfcorp7465
      @wolftamerwolfcorp7465 5 лет назад

      I don’t think it’s worth going as far as fortress knight since that requires a heavy focus into armor and axes on a mage to pass which can hinder them in learning spells but it could be worth it to at least do armor knight depending on the character since I think that still brings it up to 14 or something like that. That being said in ng+ certainly worth it.

      Class base stats are the minimum stats a character who has learned that class can have meaning that if someone with 15 strength (without class bonuses) were to pass the warrior exam which has a base of 19 they’d gain 4 strength and that is done for every stat that is under the base of the class learned (used warrior and strength since that’s one I know off the top of my head) where class change bonuses are added to a unit’s base stats as long as they’re in that class

    Growths matter a little less in same cases and with ng+ compared to previous fe titles. Mortal savant lysinthia doesn't care about that -10 speed growth since her base str is about 35 to begin with so she's only doubling knight class characters and those affected by -speed mods (seal speed, swarm, etc.) Of course there are always ways to optimize characters but also keep in mind depending on one's route you're looking at 18 ~ 22 chapters so you won't need as many level ups seeing as the max or "required" level will be lower. People will most likely be on par. I've only played hard/classic but apparently on normal one can farm aux battles? If that the case it's even more a moot point. Since the level ups are rng and someone can see an rng screwed Lorenz, like I did, people will drop some characters since you get about 17 units (route depending) outside of house recruited characters. Point is some will be good and others won't be. I ran my last 4 ~ 6 chapters with a critical heavy byleth with wo dai+ looking at 55+crit on hard classic. Sometimes hitting 87 crit w/ windsweep. So even if all characters get rng screwed buff your avatar, get s swords and forge that dai.

      ZimonZieClown I know they’re placeholder entities but the fact that they are that high leveled implies it to be the level cap

    There is no "pick a class" in this game. Each unit can have 5 classes if you pay enough attention to tutoring them

    I'd still rather have the +2 movement than a measly 4 speed increase ANY day. Whaddya know, more bad advice in a FED video. Am beginning to think this channel was made solely to mislead fans with poor suggestions.

      You're being a bit harsh, even if you're not wholly incorrect. I think the issue with this video is the examples given, Dimitri is arguably the best character in the game when it comes to growth rates so using him as a comparison to prove a point leads to biased information. It's only made worse by comparing an infantry class to a cavalry class and discrediting how important movement is in a tactics game like this.
      But there's a kernel of truth to this, despite all of that. Growth rates aren't the end all be all for some units, and choosing classes just to get a 5 or even 10% growth rate isn't the way to go. Where this video definitely went wrong is by not mentioning (at least in a way that matters) what should actually be making you consider classes: Mastered Skills such as Death Blow and movement types.
