i started fishing west lake erie when i was 14. i caught my share of walleye and yellow perch. at one time i had a 14 c.f. upright freezer pretty much full of both. you made my taste buds crave some deep fried heaven.i am now 76 and due to back issues i no longer fish. catch a few for me.
That's amazing! We all started fishing young as well... not the Great Lakes though. We didn't start fishing the Great Lake until about 10 years ago when we moved here, we live right next to Lake Superior. Trust me, we'll keep catching them for you! Have a great weekend!

Nice Walleye’s! I’ve never fished the St Louis river but back in the mid 80’s I used to install the buoys there when I was in the coast guard. I also remember catching jumbo perch under the ship when it was docked at the coast guard station.

You should check out the St. Louis River, if you like walleyes, it's really turned into a great walleye fishery! Jumbo perch would be awesome too. I know, fresh fish is super tasty! I don't know how to use the fish scraps as fertilizer yet... I don't think I can directly put them into my composter because then the bear will get it. That's a good thing for me to look up because we always have these fish scraps that we just throw in the woods far away from the house. I would love to use them for fertilizer though. That vintage Pyrex was my late mother's bowl, love to still have some of her dishes! Hope you have a great weekend!
We used lard. It works so great, I love how it solidifies again once it cools down. Makes for some very easy cleanup. We've used vegetable oil in the past, it's nice and cheap but switching to the lard has been great. It makes the fish taste good. I tend to cook with a lot of oil when frying fish, so olive oil would get expensive. Lard will be a great choice especially once we raise pigs and can get our own that way.
