You want to always have a pair of side cutters handy to cut the wire if you have to. But usually you can pull it out or back the boat up and get it unstuck. We also use snaps for the weights that are straight where they hook so if a weight snags too bad, you can just pull it hard and the snap will straighten out and dump the weight. It’s been years since I lost a weight.
Would love to fish with real fisherman . Love that technique. Never seen that. We are buying a place over there for retirement. We would love to dial us in on that technique. .. love the video explaining. Fish on fisherman's
Check out the Lk St Clair Walleye Assoc. They have a lot of people that could help you out. Richard and Joanne do seminars for the club once in awhile too which would be a great place to start learning the technique.
No, you mostly handling up river or cross current. Once you’re to the top of the run, you can turn downstream and cruise to the bottom and start over. You let the fish tell you how fast upriver. Some days you can really cover water, some days you want it to wiggle in front of them longer so you slow down. The weights also vary depending on the depth of the water. 1-2lb is pretty common for most areas. If you have about a 45° angle or a little less with the weight on the bottom, that’s about right.
Old timers know all though tricks, tips and secrets😂😂❤
Unfortunately, as the world is now they just don't make'em like this anymore!!! Good folks right there, makes me miss my Grandparents..
What do you do if you snag the weight?

don't they eat walleye ?
Yeah, they kept enough for a couple meals. When you catch hundreds of walleye a year, it’s easy to keep a few anytime you want.
