Though I fully plan to collect mostly Kruelboyz, I did write a history for my Maggotkin army known as "The Sweltering." They were stuck in Aqshy during Khorne's domination of the realm and fled to the rim. A TL;DR version is that they were slowly starving because they could not grow so close to the fiery edge of the realm and prayed for relief. When the rain came down to cool them, it was called down by Rotigus and the tribe who became the Sweltering was given over to a burning, literally burning, fever. Now with sweaty steam signaling their march, they intend to raze Hammerhal to the ground and use the ash for fertilizer in Grandfather's garden. I posted the full thing in the community on Patreon!
My Nurgle Warband is led by a Sloppity Bilepiper and they are called "The Joy Spreaders". They want to bring joy and laughter in the name of Nurgle and travel the realms to find the sad souls that need the humor of the Grandfather. When they catch prisoners, they infect them with diseases and put on a grand show with Nurglings as the stage hands, Beasts of Nurgle jumping through burning rings, Rotflies flying acrobatic maneuvers, and of course the musical comedy show of the Bilepiper, while a Spoilpox Scrivener organizes everything. Whoever survives the performance turns into a Putrid Blightking and joins them, while the rest laugh themselves to death and their souls travel to the Garden of Nurgle to become daemonic reinforcements. Long term goal is that my Bilepiper earns enough renown to impress Nurgle and that he is transformed into a Great Unclean One, "The Joyfather".
Well this is absolutely horrifying. And so *very* Nurgle. My Nurgle collection is mostly 40k stuff, but I absolutely love that theme for a band of joyous revelers dancing across the Mortal Realms!
Find those refugee camps of displaced people from the attacks of Khorne and others. They need some happiness!

Even in its original janky state, i've enjoyed PtG a lot with friends. I'm super stoked about this
Hosted 4 campaigns of it that started gaining alot from local community until IT hit. Lol now it's so much more. Before it was a month long couple games every week winner got trophy as the best general... Now it looks like a more narrative fight. The four factions fighting for the most territory or something exciting.
Maybe my highlight for 3.0 as a Narrative Player!
I think the best part about the new Path to Glory is that it has rules for using it even if you're playing people not using it. So you can tell your own narrative even if you only play pickup games at the local game store and they aren't interested in a campaign.
So glad you are doing this Doug! It made me sad how pretty much no one covered crusade for 40k.
So true! I've tried reading it over a few times from the 9th Edition rulebook and I've been struggling to get a good image in my head of how it actually plays! I'm very excited for this new Path to Glory though!
@@auroralee same! the Crusade chapter is really fucking confusing and something similar to the new Glory system would have been so amazing. Like...pciking your own planet as base etc and then going from there

I think I'll use the Anvil of Apotheosis to turn a Chaos Lord on Karkadrak into a Chaos Sorcerer Lord on Karkadrak, team him up with the rest of the start collecting box, maybe add in a Fomoroid Crusher or something from WarCry, and go from there. As for backstory, I'm leaning towards former slave labor/gladiators who were sent visions of insurrection from Tzeentch. During the overthrow of their duardin masters, they liberated creatures in the menagerie and stables.
Killer backstory, I love it! May Tzeentch grant you his boundless wisdom on your path to greatness.
Having a PtG campaign where everyone makes their starting hero with the Anvil sounds like a fun idea.
@@adambielen8996 I'm pretty stoked. After bringing it up with my friend, he's using the anvil to make a legendary gun hauler crew. I really hope GW makes explicit rules for tweaking existing units instead of just making new ones whole cloth.
@@jcephrie That would be nice. Though I do like that I can make stuff that doesn't exist, like cavalry sized characters for CoS.

I've been painting up my Nighthaunt for 6 months and you inspired me to use them for a Path to Glory for AoS 3.0 :) Gonna have to find a lore for them, but Ghur stuff might lead to some interesting and refreshing ideas :)

We've been running the old-style path to glory, and I've enjoyed it as a Beastclaw player, but less so when it seems very unbalanced for other armies. We had to do lots of homebrew balancing to (attempt to!) prevent completely unbalanced matches.
This new Path to Glory seems really exciting, I'm looking forward to running this process for either my Moulder rats or maybe starting Fyreslayers. I'm glad there'll be a reference video for how to do it!

another tip:
If you you want to start a Path to Glory campain, but can't come up with a lore behind your Warlord try some DND (or similar RPG) tables. I knew I wanted to do a Soulblight Gravelords Army and I knew I wanted them to be kinda stereotypical vampire villains. I wanted to have a vampire couple and the two spread terror with the help of their Necromancer henchmen who raises the dead for them.
But that was just the overall structure, I wanted to know what their motivation etc was but had no idea, so I just took my Dungeon Master's Guid and rolled on some tables as if I were creating a villain for my DND campain. Really helped a lot!
If you ar enot playing any evil characters, you can just go to the character creation tables from the Player's Handbook or the Heroic Chronicle from the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount :)

This is gonna be so cool! I'm going with a Beasts of Chaos path to glory. A really strong Beastlord being manipulated by a great-bray shaman who actually running the show. Not sure about the quests yet, anyone got a suggestion?
My friend you are a legend! So far I think I'm going to build a Slaves to Darkness warband, then after that ill build a Cities of Sigmar. I'll be running this as a T.O. soon, at the FLGS that work at, so I better get comfortable.

I'm planning a P2G campaign against my friend's soulblight vrykos dynasty army with my OBR. My obr are chaos hunters in Shyish, they're sent out to take and destroy chaos settlements and purge places where chaos has taken hold. Basically defend the back of the end gate. They think that this group of vrykos gravelords have been tainted by Khorne so are hunting the hunters. Starting SUPER small since it's getting him into the game. Just a single hero and some battleline (I get a liege kavalos and a unit of death riders, he gets a vampire lord and some dire wolves, both equal about 400-500 pts right now)
Darn Soulblight always taking the bones for their skeleton hordes. We can make better skellies than them! We should have dibs!
@@Waywardpaladin it's just an inefficient use of resources really; we can't have that... I do hope that the new nighthaunt and obr battletomes discuss the death civil war between obr, soulblight, nighthaunt, and fec now that nagash is taking a little dirt nap.

I'm currently in a 3 player Path to Glory campaign from 2nd edition where I have and Ironjawz army, there is another Ironjawz army, and an OBR player. My Megaboss I've kitbashed with the extra sword (unsheathed version) from a friends Nagash sprue. So these Ironjawz originate from Shyish and went krumping until he got the biggest boney boi's shiny sword after some brutalizing. This fits in pretty nicely playing against OBR because they have their spreadsheets to fill in perfectly and Nagash having his sword taken messes up their intricate plans.
I have collected stormcasts for a few years and imma keep doing that, but I have a path to glory campaign that me and some friends are gonna play and I’m going to use it to expand my Oruro war clans army. (So far limited to dominion

Hi great video! I know it's a bit old, but could you maybe explain something for me. So I wanna play lumineth, Helon. And as a Helon army, all ranged gets ekstra attack if within 6 inches of an enemy. Is that just a thing they have in narrative, or is it something I have to chose in place of a command trait?
Hope we get some new mortal human units and heros in 3rd edition. I imagine they will be one of the most popular races to play as in these narrative campaigns because they are the most relatable.
I will be making my Gretchin Sky Pirates the Trivial Revolters (a Kharadron Overlords Army). I suspect it won't be easy to have all the Ships I want in the air....
I was curious if endless spells would be in Path to glory but I can see they are in the vault under enhancements. I wonder how this effects your order of battle as currently they cost points. Can you just add one to your order of battle as an enhancement or will it be a quest reward. Really looking forward to getting into a campaign. Thanks for the video.
I think I will start with the smallest size gloomspite gitz, as I picked up models to paint during the past 4 months with intentions to eventually play now that things are better in my state.
I'll have fun coming up with some lore for my ragtag team of squig herders and company.
You could start with a making a Warcry group and go from there.

I've a question: do you have to use the pitched battles restrictions (2+ battleline, 1-3 leaders and so on) when you are chosing your army for Path to Glory games? Or PtG is a "battlepack" without battleline restrictions? With Vanguard size (600pts) you may play only 3 heroes (200pts each for example) and 0 battlelines? Headache mode on, please help!
Do you need to choose the weapons when you insert the unit in the Order of Battle, or do you choose the weapons when doing the list for the battle?
Is there an anvil of apotheosis in 3.0? Any chance on video on that?
Hey! Question; is there any faction-specific exceptions? For example, I would find it extremely hard to build a Lumineth warband since limit on Wizards is 1 and not only are all our heroes Wizards (yeah, I don't care about Bannerlord), but also our core units (Wardens, Sentinels, Dawnriders) are Wizards too.
Yet we have no Priests at all, so that's kind-of a moot point.

In terms of lore, I've decided to create my own grove, Athel Earrach. The Sylvaneth there are strongly linked to Alarielle's feelings of hope, and as such withered and languished during her depression. Now that she is reborn in her war aspect, hope flourishes again in the glade, and the Sylvaneth there have errupted in blooms of cherry-blossom pink, invigorated and filled with the hope Alarielle holds for the future of Ghyran.

you wouldn't need extra allies if you made a Stormkeep army since they get a 1-in-4 allowment of Cities of Sigmar.
Unfortunately CoS adding Stormcast works better than SCE adding Cities units.
You should totally call the Trackers Trackors though ;)
I plan to start a LRL army based on last year’s battle box but and a unit of Dawnriders from Iliatha for 600 points but I’m unsure about the rules regarding the The Light of Eltharion as the forces warlord. Are there any special rules regarding named characters in 3.0?
They can't be given enhancements like relics and command traits or mount traits is the only thing I have seen.
Still working out names and a story for mine, and any ideas are welcome, but I am running a Soulblight army, led by a Weight King on skeletal steed. My starting list is 1 unit of Deadwalker Zombies, 2 units of Deathrattle Skeletons, 1 unit of Dire Wolves and 1 unit of Blood Knights. It has been a good while since I have gotten to play any, so any feedback and suggestions would be great.
I think the raptors would fit quite well in a Hunter themed warband.

Hey Doug! So I'm going to be starting a path to glory campaign and I am taking slaves to darkness ravagers. The allegiance abilities allow me to give all my heros command traits. Can my heros have these due to my Allegiance abilities even though they don't start with renown?
get the thumbs up from your gaming group, bur I say yes! Specific rules always beat general ones. THe General rule around PtG army construction is broad, the S2D rule is specific if you play that army.
Do you paint your order differently from the rest of your armies?

Any idea how the limit on wizards works for unit wizards? The basic battleline for Lumineth are wizards and only one non-named hero isn't so you'd hit the limit even with a starting boost before even getting started with proper list building.
Im assuming its Keyword: Wizard, which the battleline do not have. So you should be fine!
@@Mika-tc6rg The leader of the unit gains the wizard keyword per the rule on their warscroll once you have models in the unit though.
@@DarkYoshiya assuming this is for Vanari Auralan Wardens, im looking at the Warscroll, all i see is "The High Warden of this unit is a Wizard while this unit has 5 or more models." But that doesn't mean they get the Wizard keyword, only that their unit can function as one. Khagra's Ravagers has a similar effect as only one model is considered the Wizard while the rest is not.
@@Mika-tc6rg Don't know if it changed in the new battletome (would be a pain if it did) but in the original one it says "The High Warden of this unit is a WIZARD while this unit has 5 or more models." with the word WIZARD being written as a keyword

More like Big warcry (warcry is fantasy necromunda). If you like necromunda and don't want to get a full army just yet, warcry is spectacular. Most of these P2G rules came from Warcry and 40k's Crusade mode.
